Man forced to pay child support for a kid that isn't his
healthyagain replied to kagoscuba's topic in Rants & Raves
I too believe that a child should not suffer. But why should an innocent man suffer?? Let the state dept pick up the tab for this child. They do for so many others who have no self supporting parents. This guy has taken the fall for a dishonest and selfish woman. And if they want what's in the child's best interest, they may allow the man and his daughter continue to have an emotionally healthy father daughter relationship. If the State does not want to pay for this little girl as they do for so many others, Then they should go after her MOTHER. She caused the situation in the first place. -
I'm just curious.Do you all feel the same way about gyms and exercise? Those too seems to be a healthy program that involves will power and determination. Do you think that is a crock? I'm not picking a fight, and I'm here just as you all are. I made a choice for the band because it was right for me. I too believe it is only a tool and involves a lot of hard work. But, if I am totally honest with myself ,I did it because I was unable to keep the motivation and will power to follow any healthy and moderate eating plan on my own. I was a failure at dieting as well as exercise. So I'm just throwing it out there. What are your views on exercise programs and if you are not opposed to them, how do they differ in comparison to weight loss programs?

Have you hit a plateau but are loosing inches?
healthyagain replied to SB0233's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded on 1/14/08. I seem to be losing very slowly. It is 2 weeks today and I'm down a otal of 5lbs. I know they say 1-2 pounds per week...But I expected to lose fast initially and then slow down once I got on mushies and solids. I've been on liquids and only down 5. I haven't checked my inches, but I feel a little better. Anyway, I'm a bit frustrated to say the least. I keep reading all these posts about lack of restriction. That isn't even an issue for me right now...Restriction or not, I'm still only taking in approx 700 calories a day. How could my weight loss be so slow? I'm terribly worried that the "slow losing" mushie stage will be more like a "Full Stop" for me. -
Hello, This may be a silly question. But are you still able to gulp water and other fluids?? I am almost 2 weeks post-op and while I did sip slowly for the first few days, I have found myself drinking large sips at once. I'm pretty sure I could drink 120z straight down shotgun style if I tried....Is this the norm?? and if so why was my Dr. so insistent of slow sipping??
-
Also...Your lunch sounded very healthy...and yummy...Have more meals like that...Satisfying and good for you.
-
Were you able yo eat a whole bagel? If so was it a small frozen bagel or a larger fresh bagel? I'm just curious as I'm only 2 weeks post-op and on liquids..I just want to know what to expect once I move onto solid foods. Hang in there. From what I read on this board it does get better. Just think of how great you have been doing so far and stick with it. easier said than done I know...But hard work really does pay off in the long run. Good luck and I hope you find the will power to refrain until you get filled to restriction.

Feeling No restriciton and FUSTRATED!
healthyagain replied to zippyz's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am not even 2 weeks post-op and i'm still on liquids. And following it religiously. My question is this...Restriction or not, isn't the fact that we are taking in 700 calories as opposed to 3000 calories daily supposed to ensure weight loss? The scale is going down for me, but it's very slow. I lost 12 pounds on the 2 week pre-op diet and was very happy with that. But now 11 days post-op and only down another 3. The scale hasn't moved in 3 days??? I must say I am shocked. I know I'm following the plan, and I expected results similar to pre-op phase..What gives??? -
gross question
healthyagain replied to restrict2008's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't disagree...It's a personal decision and my feelings are to each their own. No judgements. I was just curious as I've been reading about others who have not been able to have the surgery due to lower BMI. Thanks for answering my question and I wish you great success. -
gross question
healthyagain replied to restrict2008's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Restrict...I'm just noticing your ticker. I'm shocked you found a Dr willing to perform LapBand at only 168lbs and a BMI of 33. I'm not passing judgement...Just surprised...Did you have a hard time getting approved and why did you feel it necessary to have surgery? Feel free not to answer this personal question, but you've got me curious. -
Help Me I Feel Like a Failure
healthyagain replied to Ms.Toya's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Crisann, I commend you on your hard work and I'm in no way passing judgement so please don't take it that way...But if you are going to stray from the plan wouldn't you feel better about it if you stayed away from fast food. You mentioned Wendy's and KFC and I just think to myself, it is these places that got me in trouble in the first place. Aren't you anxious to break the fast food cycle? I'm only asking because this will be my hardest accomplishment. I'm going to try and stay far far away from it for as long as possible. -
I just re-read my post...I appologize at how bitchy it sounds...I didn't mean for it to come out that way. My message was just we should all support each other's weight loss attempts whatever they may be. I'm under-nourished and bitchy today (post-op liquid stage) and right about now I'd kill for 12 points to use on real food!!! That may well have been where my big support for weight watchers came from...That's no excuse for being a witch though and I am sorry.
-
We are all here for the same reason...We have had a hard time losing weight for years and years. I too have had many attempts at weight watchers...I have failed miserably...That said...I believe 100% in Weight Watchers program. It is a guide to healthy eating and a program that should be adopted for life. I wish I had been able to stick with it. Then I would not have had to take such a drastic move as surgery. I think people deserve support no matter which road they choose to lose weight. You made no mention of them critisizing your decision so I think you should support theirs...To each their own.
-
I'd come right out and tell him he is not to spek to you that way. Especially not in front of your daughter and let him know firmly that if it happens again you will be asking him to leave the house. I would stick to it too. If he refuses to leave you should take your daughter and leave. Once he knows you mean business he might just change his ways. This worked for me. Unfortunately, by the time I decided to take such drastic action, I had lost all respect for him and didn't want him back even after he changed his behavior. I guess this is where true love comes into play. Maybe I just didn't feel it.
-
I gained 8 pounds in surgery (water weight I assume) and in the past week I have lost 11. But that only puts me down 3 pounds from my surgery weight...I'll take it.
-
I did. I had no idea until my Dr told me after the surgery that he took care of both things. I was surprised as I never felt any symptoms...

Did I eat too much at once?
healthyagain replied to mindyemt08's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can eat 6 eggs and a tuna sandwich in one sitting and you have a BMI of 34??? Amazing really....you must have a great metabolism... -
My Dr waits till week 12 for a first fill. I'm only on week 2 now...That's a long way away...But after reading these posts, My Dr seems to be the strictist on everything.. 2 full weeks of no driving or work, 4 weeks liquids, another 4 weeks purees and then onto solids...
-
Ok...I'll admit, I jumped the gun there...just so damn excited by the pure domination of the Patriots in the Brady/Belichick era...But you're right...There are a few very accomplished QB's who through years of hard work alone deserve to be on top...Montanna, Marino, Elway, Young...But I do believe that in 10 years both Brady and Payton will top that list. In that order!!!
-
Dissapointing that more people did not join you in bashing the acomplishments of a Truely wonderful football organization?
-
Romney is right up there. Don't you think he might be the Republican nominee?
-
I think the steroid scandal is overblown too...They're all on the juice..Who cares...these steroids do not work alone...they are paired with extremely hard work and determination ...If these guys are willing to destroy their bodies to reach their personal goals...SO BE IT!!! Yes it sets a poor example for children, as do many celebs, whether it be show-biz, sports, music ect...It is a business and these people are there to make money and fulfill their own goals and milestones. If they were concerned with the future of America they would have gone into teaching or other child-related fields. Further more Belichick's fine was $500K (the league max) and they had to give up a 1st round draft pick next year...It is hardly a slap on the wrist...It is the strictest penalty imposed on a team ever...and There are cameras all over every sideline every single Sunday...I assure you it has been done by many teams many times...It was the arrogance of Belichick to ignore the Commish's warning to the NFL just weeks before that got him in trouble...That same arrogance is bringing his team to their 4th superbowl!!!! It's a tough sport... They're a tough team...Go PATS!!!
-
You're not stuck on that are you??? Blown way out of proportion and an excuse for people to continue hating on the best team in NFL history.
-
I just had to pop in and say...GO PATS...Living in the Boston area I must say it is so nice to have a team considered a DYNASTY...Being compared to those Damn Yankees of baseball just feels really good!!! Brady is by far the best QB ever and he hasn't even been around that long...Another win in AZ and we are the best team ever...undisputed!!!

I'm glad you're feeling better Saleel. And it gets better every day. I was banded on the 14th. On day 2 and 3, I was rather uncomfortable and in a fair amountof pain. Today (day 5) I would say I feel almost 100%. Just minor abdominal pain. Nothing major. So I hope the recovery keeps going good for you and that you too are 100% before long. Keep up the good work...

I had surgery on 1/14/08. I was planning to go back to work on 1/23/08 to a desk job...As of today I feel like I'd feel fine to do that...BUT..Dr. said he will absolutely NOT clear me to drive until I see him on 1/29/08. So it looks like I'm out of work till the 30th and I'm feeling great already...and I have Cabin Fever!!! I need to get in my car and go!!! Oh well...I guess I'll have to practice relaxing..I'm not so good at it.
