What to tell co-workers
healthyagain replied to Rachel In L.A.'s topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I told my co-workers. I'm a pretty open person and have a friendly relationship with most of the people at work. The people who want to pass judgement are welcome to. I've decided I really don't care. Everyone was really nice and supportive. there were plenty of questions, But I felt they were mostly due to curiosity not being nosy. The office sent me flowers while I was home recovering..And when I came back to work after my leave, The co-workers had decorated my cubicle with welcome back signs and there was a beautiful card with a $100. gift card to Kohls because they said I will be needing some new work clothes eventually. I thought it was really nice and I feel great that I have the support of the people around me. Also, I wouldn't dare fail now that everyone knows...So it's keeping me motivated. I understand everyone's workplace is different and that others would prefer to keep their private lives just that. But being open worked out really great for me. -
I'll put it on my list...I like the Twins...I was a big Kirby Puckett fan in my younger years...
-
I'll make it a point to get to the new Stadium. My Brother lives in Astoria and we visit quite often. I love to visit the different stadiums...Have been to Fenway, Shea, Camden Yards, Wrigley and AT&t in San Fran.
-
Your not going to hear me argue that Yankees fans are obnoxious!!!
-
Chrisanne...I'm a Red Sox fan here...How's Pedro taking the whole Santana thing..He doesn't like playing second fiddle...Just curious cause I haven't heard any feedback from the media about it..P.S...I've been to Shea and my Daugther got her photo up on the Jumbo-tron there...SOO KOOL!!!

healthyagain replied to jweiss1000's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
jwiess, If you don't mind my asking...are you Male or female? It doesn't matter. Your accomplishments are incredible regardless and you should be very proud. I'm just curious because with my experience reading these boards the guys seem to loose so much faster than the women. -

try the Isopure Clear from GNC. I love the Icy Orange and the Mango peach. They are completely clear. Nothing gross and textured floating around in there. The other thing I can take is Sugar free Carnation Chocolate mixed with skim milk and warmed as hot chocolate. Not bad either. -
Has anyone had this done in Massachusetts?

I was banded at Winchester Hospital by Dr Ameri -
Hello, Before I had surgery 2 weeks ago I had asked many questions and researched extensively. (I thought) Anyway, I had asked my Dr if I was getting the 10cc band and his response was, "exactly, Right, I see you have been doing your homework. Good for you." anyway, I went for my post-op today and was given a package from Inamed explaining how my band works. There is a tiny card in there titled Patient Identification Card. It states in small writing "Max fill volume 4cc". Nowhere else in the entire package does it identify the band type or say what the capacity is. Anyone know what size band I have???
-
I'm confused. Max fill volume 4cc
healthyagain replied to healthyagain's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Do you know what the difference between the 2 are? -
Also, Just incase you are going the insurace route and have an HMO, You best contact your PCP and get a referral.
-
You can call Dr Ameri's office to set up an appointment. His # is (781) 662-2288. He is excellent. Also he has a meeting on Feb 12th from 7-9pm at the Jenks Center in Winchester. It is very informative and open to anyone. It's worth going to.
-
I already replied to your other thread. But I now notice you are in Salem. Stoneham/Winchester are right off Rt 93. (next to Woburn) If this is not convenient you may want to try the Lowell Area. There are 2 hospitals (Lowell General and Saints Memorial) that both have Bariatric surgery departments.

I went to Dr. Ameri. His office is in Stoneham Ma and the surgery is done at Winchester Hospital. He is wonderful. He has an open forum meeting/support group on the 2nd Tuesday of each month from 7-9pm at the Jenks Center in Winchester Ma. It is definately worth going to. His next meeting is for pre-Op/and imediate Post-op and is on 2/12/08. He does both Bypass and Banding. You should check it out.

Low Calorie/Band Friendly Superbowl Snacks?
healthyagain replied to Sue Magoo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm sure this is not the answer you are looking for...But it's one day. Enjoy whatever you want and can tolerate. You'll not want anything additional if your full and you'll be satisfied that you had some yummy tailgate favorites...I'm a believer in the "everything in moderation" that includes cheating days...You may have one every month or so. -
Interesting sensation.. slipping?...flutters?

click on your existing ticker from any post. the ticker screen comes up and you need to provide your password and then edit/update weight info. then you just hit next or exit out. It's kinda funny as it doesn't give you any confirmation. But you will notice the ticker changes on all of your previous posts. Hope this helps. -
New member, 7 months post-op & 149 lbs gone forever!
healthyagain replied to MickATL's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Great job Mick. You seem so happy and proud of yourself. As you should be. I wish you continued success. And I just have to throw in this sexist statement...I'm jealous...The guys always seem to do so good!!! -
I'm bored and annoyed!!! I'm 5 days post-op and feeling really good. So I should be very grateful. But I spoke to my Docs office yesterday asking if I would be able to use my car now that I feel almost 100%. ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! She actually kinda yelled at me...Said not until I'm seen for my follow up visit on 1/29/07...That will be 15 full days post-surgery. This seems a bit excessive to me...and I was planning on getting back to work next week...Guess that's not happening. Oh Well...Does this seem a bit excessive to anyone???

2 weeks without Protein
healthyagain replied to CynthiaMcC's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is the first I've heard of no protien. Can you have clear protien drinks. Isopure from GNC? It's clear and has 40g protien per 20oz and it's sugar free -
is sugar free stuff bad for you?
healthyagain replied to andielmt's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Aubrie, I found your post very interesting. I never gave it much thought before, But almost every overweight person I know (besides myself) is addicted to diet soda. I've never been one for soda so that's one thing I'll be just fine without. But I know plenty of heavy people some of whom are diabetic who drink enormous amounts of diet soda. The insulin thing you mentioned makes sense. -
Jersey, Just hold firm with your surgeon that you want to go through with the expected date. Acknowledge your responsibility for the weight gain and assure him/her that you fully plan on giving this 100% effort going forward. I did lose weight required by my surgeon pre-op...But before I made up my mind to have the surgery I said to myself, "I'm going to try my very hardest for 3 months to lose weight and if I can't do it, I'm getting the surgery" Needless to say, I gained 12 pounds in those 3 months. I think I almost did it on purpose??? Anyway, don't beat yourself up over it. Think positive and move forward with your very best effort. Don't cheat yourself this time. Treat yourself as you deserve to be treated.

Oops...Sorry...Got your post on "new Posts" didn't realize it was from the men's room...Sorry for butting in where I don't belong...
-
Derick, I'm sorry for your pain, but I must point out, Your post does not sound like that of a nice guy. It sounds like that of a violently angry man. And I don't know you, so I'll not pass judgement, But I hope now that you are looking better and feeling better about yourself you did not turn into a shallow individual as you describe your ex-friend to be. Further more, what was it that attracted you to this girl in the first place. It appears she doesn't have a whole lot to offer and is more of a user and a taker. So it leaves me to wonder if it was her good looks that had you so devoted in the first place? It is possible that this is not the case. But be honest with yourself. If your attraction to her was mostly physical, wouldn't you expect the same from her?

Weight loss at 1st Postop Visit ? - Jeni
healthyagain replied to Jeni's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too only lost 5 pounds in the first two weeks post-op. I guess we are not supposed to worry about it. And Chrisann, I agree it is most important that we focus on healing right now. But it still is a little discouraging to see such small numbers. After all, I assume this is the time we are consuming the least calories and this should be the time when weight loss is rapid. As opposed to the normal slowing down of 1-2 pounds per week once food is re-introduced. I'm not going to stress over it, and I know everyone is different, But it does seem a bit wierd that some lose up to 15lbs the first week and others are struggling to lose. It just makes me worry that my metabolism is ultra-slow...I hate that!
