Sweet! Glad things are going smoothly

Good news! Glad you got out. I just walked around my house today. I'm no on Protein (which is so odd to me), and I hardly got any fluids in yesterday. Today, I've gotten 27 oz of Clear Liquids (with great effort). Not sure how to get in more, when I push it and drink to fast or more, a weird sound happens, and it seems like it gets stuck in my esophagus before going down. I'm trying to pick it up though, because I know you feel worse when you're dehydrated.

Welcome to the Party! I had a similar experience with the pain meds making me nauseous...after a while it stopped though. The gas pain was minimal, it seems to be worse yesterday and today. I feel the pull on my incisions too, and turning in the bed is PAINful! Wish I had a recliner. I am doing popsicles, and Jello, juice...but my Dr. does not give Protein. That seems strange. I am much hungrier than I thought I would be, and I would love real food right now too! Hey, at least we will appreciate it when we can eat it again!

Wow! You're doing great! I hope in the ne t few days, I can get out to the store. I've been trying to keep my fluids up....but i'm probably getting only half lf them. It feels like gurgling, and pressire when I drink...so I try and slow down even more. I mainly have SF Jello, popsicles, water, and I tried Campblells broth today (I didn't like it). I bought some Campbell's chicken noodle soup and have strained out the noodles and chicken. And am just having the "broth" that's left over. It's alot more tasty. I ate 3oz of it yesterday with 1 scoop of unflavored protien powder mixed in. It took me about 30 minutes to finish it though. I tried the straining method...it sure tasted better, but I think the onion or garlic hurt my stomach. So I only drank an ounce. I guess I'll have to try Campbells beef broth (it's in the cupboard) or another type of chicken broth.

my doctor did both surgerys at the same time. I thought my doctor would do it at the same time if needed. But, at the time of surgery the residents said...that's not something she does. A thoracic surgeon does that. I hope that it was small enough that it was better to leave it alone. I sure wished I asked my surgeon some more questions. She's super famous where I live, and I didn't want to bother her. Also, she did a gastric bypass on my aunt 14 years ago, and my aunt has been maintaining at 250 lb weight loss for over 10 years. So, I just thought...she's the director...she knows what she's doing. I sure hope so for my sake!

Th instructions say clear liquids only until mynext Drs. Appointment in 12 weeks Oh my doc said clear liquids and protien shakes. The protien shakes are the only exception. But I'm mixing unflavored protien into my broth so that I'm getting something in. It's helped a lot Sorry, I meant to type 2 weeks, I go back on March 10th, and then I go to pureed food. It seems like a ling time to go 2 weeks without Protein. I already feel week, and hungry. Maybe I'll check with her office. It does say all clear for 2 weeks, until she see's me. Glad the protein is working for you!

I sure hope it goes away. I have been concerened since right before the surgery (when she said she uses a 40 bougie (a larger one to measure the stomach cut). She said that takes about 70% of the stomach. I know it's early, I would just hate To go through all of this to still be hungry all the time, or not lose weight.

I have it too. I think it has to just evaporate. I've only known to use gas x stipe, and walk. I also resd something that said to pull your knees up. Maybe google it.

The gas pain js hurting me too, mostly in my stomach, upper back, shoulder and even my neck hutts (but it always hurts)Gas X Strips not really helping me either, and my tummy hurts too much to walking out doors. I did walk around my house though. I'm on liquids only and having a tough time getting all the flyifs down, it feels like it gets trapped in my chest and I burp after I eat.

Not sure about the vitamins you're taking. My Doc said to take Flinstomes Complete with Iron ?

I'm hungry ???? And upset that I am. I realty hoped I would be one of the ones who isn't really hungry. And I have pain in my diaghram (i had a small hiatel hernia, but apparently my doc doesn't do that suegeey

i have severe pain im not able to eat anything. just ice chips im not hungry at all. if i try to sip a little bit of broth my stomach hurts severly kind of like cramping. my oxygen levels were low too. im suffering guys im on percocet every 4 hours and still feel so much pain. I felt the same way when I tried to eat the jello and broth. I only at 1/3 or it, and then had pain when I did. The Lord is close to those that are suffering. I'm praying for us. Also, you can call on Him too, when you're afraid. Also, remember...this surgery isn't easy...but the choices we had were to remain the same or get woese...and that was painful too. If you really feel like something is wrong, have them call the Doctor to maybe run a scan. Did you do the swallow test yet?

Are you in the hospital, or outpatient? If you're at the hospital, can you tell them you're in too much pain. Maybe they can give you more pain medication. I'm hurting too, and scared...I think it's pretty normal.

You're not alone. I have bad pain too. I was on th Delodid pump that i pushed myself, until this afternoon. Then they changed me to Percocet every 4 hours, and tylenonl. Can they give you some Tylenol. I tried eating some broth and jello and my stomach hurt, anf I felt sick, got bad hiccups, but didn't reallg feel full. It's what's to be expected....We just had our surgeries yesterday. Little bu liytle it will get better. Praying for us all.

So, I'm on day two of surgery. I drink the little medicine cups of water and it then the eater sits in my esophogus for a long while, and it feels like the water tries to come back up, even when sleeping. The barium swallow before surgery saw a small hiatel hernia. My batistric doc says she doesn't do repairs. Just a bit concerning. I am also HUngry! I was so bummed, because I Wanted to be one of those people that get a break from hunger. Were/are any of you hungry? How are you coming along?

Hello all! Glad we made it through. I'm in pain too, and I'm hungry ???? I realy wanted to be one of those people who are never hungry for the first 9 months to a year. My barium swallow before surgery showed a small hiatel hernia, but when I asked my docs resident doctor about it, she said my doctor doesn't do hernia repair. I hope the hernia is smalll, but maybe that explaines hunger pains. I've drinken three little medicin cups of Water, and I will have broth snd Jello in a few minutes. Have you all eaten yet? Also, no drain for me either.

Me too! Try and relax and see if anestheisa can give you something. Praying for a successful surgery for all of us.

Me too!what time is your surgery?It's scheduled for me to be there at 7:30 am (Eastern Time), so sugety will probably be at 9:00 am (6am your time). Say a prayer for me ???? What time is yours? I'm praying for us all today!

I am having surgery on Tuesday. Besides being super nervous, I can't find my day before instructions. The nurse is not very nice (and I've already called her twice). If you are someone who didn't have a pre-op diet before surgery...what were you allowed to eat. I think she told me regular Breakfast, then Clear liquids until 12am...then nothing by mouth.
