I have a dilemma! Help please

I am only 8 days out, and I definitely need another week. Having said that, after all you've done to have the surgery...In my opinion you should really just let them know that it was planned ahead of time, and you need to take the two weeks (with a possibility of returning before that time is up). Prayerfully they'll understand. It is really hard to get approved, and you're not alway guaranteed an insurance situation in the future that even covers it, or you can get approved easily.

So...in trying my popsicles...I found orange, citrus, and the tangerine hurt my tummy. I sure hope that goes away because I really like citrus (I had to put all those popsicles to the side

My favorite is the Lipton noodle soup (strained) with a tiny splash of lemon juice. Sooo good! Sent from my 831C using the BariatricPal App Sorry...I don't know how to multi-post...what flavor lipton? Is it onion?

    Feb 23 Sleevers!

Hey Gals, just doing my regular check in. Today was a good day. I decided that I look sick (this surgery is my second in 8 weeks). My skin looked pale and grey, and I had bags. I decided to take a shower, put make-up on, and get dressed (in loose clothes of course). I felt better. I saw my face was thinner, and my dress fit loser, a new pair of panties that didn't fit...fit....and the best part...my bra wasn't cutting of my circulation! That felt good. I also went grocery shopping...I was weak, and it was exhausting...but It felt good to be in the world with other people. I've been recovering for weeks now. Also, I tried a new way of liquids after getting nasueas forcing it all in too fast. I drank Water, and the other half broth, popsicles, and Jello today. It seemed once I put 32 ounces of water in a clear measuring cup and sipped....that got half my ounces in..and then when I felt hungry...the other items helped me to feel fuller. I got up to 57 ounces so far, and about to eat to popsicles...making it 60. I'm so grateful for this site...I feel like I have learned so much, and got so much help. So, I was looking for a new broth, or popsicle type. I found THE best popsicles after a recommendation from here. They are fruit bars (it was on my OK list from my doc), and they taste so much better than my regular popsicles. They are called Outshine *No Sugar added fruit bars in strawberry, Raspberry, & Tangerine (make sure you don't get the regular..the box is close). They are so much more creamy, and they taste better than Popsicle brand. A tad bit more expensive...but soooo worth it! I also bought some broths to try (based on info I found on here). One was called Better Than Bouillon chicken base (you mix it with boiling water)...It wasn't cheap either...$7.50...then I bought ramen and will just use the packet. Not sure how they will taste. We shall see. I wanted to share these with you and post pics of the items...but, I don't know how. Hope you all are feeling better and better. Nighty Night!

I'm still on my meds...tapering down, and plan to be off by Saturday. One incision is really painful, and my go to drug was always Ibuprofen...but we aren't supposed to take that any more. I remember I had the surgery, it's just hard when I see other people eating. My husband eats pretty healthy, so it's not that bad...but commercials and the grocery store are really hard for me. I really had food cravings today...

So, I pushed and pushed to get those liquids in...got to 59 ounces (the most I've had so far), and I feel nauseous for the first time. Too much too fast...I suppose. I'll try again tomorrow.

    Feb 23 Sleevers!

I found it much easier to get the fluids in at the hospital too. At home, I worked really hard yesterday and I was only able to get 41 ounces Thts a great idea well today i saw my doctor she started me on Protein shakes I have to drink a shake every 2 1/2 hours and it's so hard right now I'm hungry ugh it's so hard. At least I lost 16 pounds. That would have been a struggle for me without the sleeve 16 pounds so far is awesome!! I have lost 12 so far. How about everyone else? I feel like once I start eating solids I may gain a pound just because there will be food in my stomach but I'm good with that. Feeling great today and water and broth is going down so much easier today than in the past. I start work again on Thursday but from home for a week instead of the office. I'm already restless. If I was off any longer I would be working on home repairs and probably hurt myself. Im at just over 10 lbs so far! Getting all the water in is still a challenge. Working on it though. Found if I mixed my s/f chocolate pudding with the vanilla unjury powder and freezing it make for a lovely treat. Getting super tired of the shakes though. Glad everyone seems to be doing well! That's great! Glad you are feeling better and found a way to make the powder taste better. I'm quite tired of my options right now too, but I keep telling myself (and my Drs. office reminded me..this is the hardest part)...it's going to get easier for us as time goes on...and we can ad more.

Hello All, Hope everyone is feeling better and better. I have been OK, today is a bit better than yesterday. I have been eating ALOT of sugar free Popsicles. They count as 2 ounces, and I'm trying to get my Fluid intake up. The past two days I was only at around 40, today after eating Popsicle after Popsicle (and a bowl of beef Broth)...I got up to 54 ounces...wohoo! I'm going to try and have 5 more popsicles tonight before bed. I spoke to my Drs. office today.... because I was worried about being hungry, and not being prescribed any Protein when others have. The nurse said It is Really important to get at least 64 ounces of Clear Liquids a day. I told her I felt hungry, and she said...of course you are...the clear liquids go right through you. She said it will be better once we start adding more to the diet. I asked her about others taking protein at this time, and she said my Dr. doesn't allow that because she wants the whole thing healed before adding anything the stomach that it has to breakdown. It's healing and swollen, and susceptible to having a leak. Introducing too much, too fast can cause leaks. So...I guess I feel better about no protein. I really wanted to share it with our group, so if you added it on your own, and it may be something to reconsider after checking with your Dr. Our poor tummies have been through a lot already! As far as weight goes...I think I maybe a little down (but I had gained 10 lbs of Water weight in the hospital!) I haven't checked the scales since I got home. I'm trying to make it to 30 days without weighing. I can check, and check, and check...and I'm afraid that since we are so early on, it may not be what I want it to be. When I had a healthy scale relationship years ago ...I would weigh once a month for accountability, because I would get totally obsessed with the scale. We shall se if I make it..I'm already tempted! Our little support group on line has been a God send to me. I would hate to be going through this alone. So, thanks for sharing.

I have been living on Sugar Free Popsicles...I read online that they count as 2 ounces. And it's easier to me than just drinking water. Are you feeling any better today?

I really hope so! My Drs. office said it's because I'm on a liquid diet...nothing stays (it goes right through me).

I see...I have a lower BMI too. I was just at 35, but I had mild sleep apnea...so insurance approved. I did have to jump through their hoops for 9 months though...not being able to gain (or I would get denied) or lose (I would be denied). I had to really do a lot of not eating..then eating to be approved. I hope it will all be worth it in the end.

SWEET! I was going to ask about BM. I haven't gone since the day before surgery, and I my stomach feels hard. Wasn't sure what to take. I did about the same as far as fluids go...41 oz (mainly popsicles and Jello...the jello makes me feel like I'm eating something). Are you feeling hungry? I'm bummed that I'm hungry...I was hoping that I would wake up and be free of this dreaded hunger that has been with me all my life.

I found it much easier to get the fluids in at the hospital too. At home, I worked really hard yesterday and I was only able to get 41 ounces of Clear liquids in (I'm not allowed Protein yet). I have been VERY hungry all day. Maybe try sugar free jello, sugar free popsicles (this is my favorite), broth, and regular juice diluted with 50% water? I also set my alarm on my phone for every 15 minutes for an ounce (1 medicine cup), once that's up...I write it down in my book, and reset for another 15 minutes...drink or eat another cup of jello or liquid....write that down...etc... (Popsicles are two ounces and should be eaten over 30 minutes). This way, I know how much I'm taking in. Hope that helps!

    Feb 23 Sleevers!

Oh, OK...I thought I was the only one. It appears I couldn't get it in if I wanted to right now. After working really hard to get fluids in (and drinking for 11 hours) I only got 31 oz in. I feel really bloated and haven't had a BM since before surgery. I think that's going to be it for me tonight. I literally feel like I am going to explode. Have a great night.

    Hiccups!

    That's good to know.

    Hiccups!

The key is learning to stop before you get the hiccups. It just takes time to get a hang of it. I get the burp, hiccup, and the watery eyes and I'm only on liquids...it's tough to get all the liquids in. I guess the next learning curve is when I get to the pureed stage.

I seem to be the only one who isn't having the protein. My doctor is the "Director"of the Bariatric unit near me, but some of the information and direction I'm getting from her, doesn't seem very knowledgable. She told me she took about 70% of the stomach out, and that seems to be minimal compared to so many others on here. Also, I had a small hiatel hernia that she didn't repair (and the resident drs. said she doesn't repair...which is strange because it seems like a all Bariatric docs do the hernia repair). I'm trying not to panic about these things, but it does worry me. Staying in prayer for a good outcome. I think you might end up better off in the long run by not pushing your stomach now in the short term like we are sure to be doing. It will turn out fine either way I'm sure. We are at least on the road to recovery. Not too many more weeks before we all end up in a similar eating situation. I SO needed to hear that. Thank you for writing it. Soon, this part of things will be distant memory for us.

    Hiccups!

I had my surgery on 2/23 and when they started me drinking I had Horrible hiccups (several in row). I read up on it, and it seems like hiccups aren't uncommon, and for some people it means they are full if they have 1 hicupp or even a burp. Since the bad hiccups, I've been trying to slow down (which is super hard for me), I haven't gotten multiple in a row...but I have got one big one (or a burp) after drinking liquids (I'm on the clear liquid diet), and I'm treating that as an "I'm full", slow down on the drinking. I get the heartburn too Not horrible, but enough to be annoying.
