I Want To See Before & After Pics! (Cont'd)
Bluesky1 replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
That is REALLY fast! Maybe it's your youth that helps! I hope to have such good results. You really do look lovely! -
You're not alone. It's been one month since surgery (Feb. 23rd) and I lost in the first 17 days, and then only 2 lbs since. And it's not moving. How long does the stall usually last? Because 3 weeks has become 4 weeks. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Beautiful! What was your weight then and now? How tall are you? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Yes, this is true...but you're in Onderland! Yayyyy! I really don't see how I can get 50-70 without Protein drinks. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Don't feel guilty at all! I have had a lot more cravings this last week or too. It's been tough to go out and see all the food I can't eat. I can't eat enough to get even 50 grams of protein in a day. I have been drinking 2 protein drinks (muscle milk 32 grams) a day and then an egg with cheese, pureed meat (ham, chicken), chili, refried Beans with cheese, and I must have some type of desert, so I have 1/2 sf chocolate pudding with 2 teaspoons regular cool whip, or sf Jello, 1/5 of a banana (smooshed) and cool whip. Yes! Happy 30 whole days! I too hope everyone is doing well. I'm doing OK, I'm down 22 lbs since surgery. A little disappointed because I wanted to be down at least 30 lbs and be under 200. I'm at 202 right now. Trying to be grateful though, because I sure wasn't losing 22 lbs in a month before surgery! Still doing puree/soft food. Trying to get my Protein and Water up everyday. Question....how muh protein does your Doc suggest. I was told to try and get 50 (and stay away from Protein drinks...if I can), but I felt too weak and increased my protein to 70-85. Even with that much I still feel weak. I tried walking at the gym twice this week, and I was totally on the couch after. How have you all been? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I've been having cravings A LOT lately. I miss my old food, but glad for the weight loss. I went out with my husband and I wished I could puree a whole lot of things!

Which ones do you drink? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I waa going to ask you what kind you got. I'll have to try it. I've had some problems too (mostly because of my surgeries and then pain medicine). It's probably because we're also not earing that much volume, or Fiber. Maybe your doc will approve a laxative or stool softner. Also, I drink the premade monstor milk drinks. They're probably constipating. Do you drink the Protein drinks? Which one do you like?

Hi All! Sorry I've been MIA for a bit. I've had a hard time of it for a little while, but it seems I'm turning the corner. Glad everyone seems to be doing well. Getting protein and water in is a full time job! I literally log everything and put my phone timer on between eating and drinking so I can try and get it all in. I have to drink the yucky Muscle Milk protein pre made drink...I can't stomach regular milk, or the premier protein pre-made ones. I don't want to spend alot of money on protein powder that I don't like either. So, I'll probably order some samples. I thankfully help my husband with his business from home, and don't have to be at work full time. I began purees on Thursday, and I was SO happy! Not sure if you all have heard of pureeing the food and then putting it in ice cube trays and freezing it, so the food doesn't go bad and you can pop out a couple for a serving. A little tip...get the ice cube trays that you just push the bottom so you can get them out easy. I've pureed Chipolte chicken (yum!) It's $2.69 for a 4 oz container...Wendy's chili (yum!) a small one is just a couple of bucks and it purees so easily. I also did black bean soup and turkey chili from Panera. (They tasted Ok). My husband just bought some carrots and green beans, so I'll be pureeing them tomorrow. I have also eaten eggs and eggs with cheese, one time the eggs with cheese gave me severe heartburn...the next time Intook my Zantac, and chewed each bite 20-30 times over 20-25 minutes, andit was fine. I really like refried beans with a little cheese. I use little forks and spoons and a small plate so I eat slower and don't feel deprived. I am much happier that I can eat more, but I am still so weak and I've felt hot and cold and shaky. On my 17th day I had lost 20 lbs. my highest weight was 234 and my surgery weight was 224.5. I was very happy to see the scale going down, but a few days later once I've been eating I feel heavier. I haven't weighed to find out. I can cross my legs easier...yay! And I put on a couple of nicer outfits and my husband was very happy. He says he feels like he's getting his wife back. How much can you all eat? I can pretty comfortably eat 1/2 cup or pureed food (whih worries me), it seems like others can eat less. Also, how long will you be on purees? I have to be one for 30 days. Best Blender for Puree & Shakes?
Bluesky1 replied to Bluesky1's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thank you for the responses. So, unfortunately I can't afford the Vitamex, so I think I have to go with another. Pureeing food is what I'm most concerned about. I've read to many blenders put air in shakes and it leads to gas. So, I'll stick with puree foods. Still not sure which is the best for puree. -
I am happy to say I'm finally on Puree stage! However, I have had a dizzying time trying to find a good blender. I tried to go cheap and bought a black and decker from Walmart today. NO go. It was to big and tall to puree my small cup of chili, and it was very lumpy even after pureeing for a while. I have been reading that the Magic Bullet & the Ninja (but not sure which model) are good. Please let me know if there is a particular blender that works well for you for puree and Protein shakes. Thank you!

Did you feel restriction on Puree Stage?
Bluesky1 replied to Bluesky1's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thank you! I will take your suggestions. I am so very grateful to have real food today, after 17 days of liquids...even if it looks like baby food! This is day one, so prayerfully it will get better every day. Have a great night! -
I'm on day 17 today, and I've been convinced since I had surgery...that my surgeon left my stomach too big. She is an expert in our area and I didn't think to ask her (before surgery day) what bougie size she used. It turns out she uses a 40 and there was no reinforcing the staple line. she said she uses 40 because there is less chance of stricture. I was and am concerned, because I know the capacity increases down the road....and from what I read the bigger the bougie size...the more chance of regain. Today was my first day of pureed food. I ate a little more than a quarter cup of pureed chili....ate it slow (over 30 minutes)...no problem! And I was still hungry. The nutritionist said I might not even be able to eat a couple of tablespoons! A little bit later I ate 1/4 cup of sugar free pudding...and then started to eat a little more....but got nasueas (from my Vitamins that I took right before)...and left it alone. So, I'm concerned that there wasn't more restriction. Did you have restriction on the puree stage? How much did you eat at a meal? I hope it's just because it's pureed food.

Week 1 - Am I drinking too much too fast?
Bluesky1 replied to newmeme's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I promise you that once you are onto more solid foods, you WILL feel restriction. You aren't supposed to have restriction with liquids. I wish more surgeons would do a barium swallow test and let their patients watch it live. Mine did one and it was plain to see that the liquid passed through my sleeve immediately. It didn't sit in my sleeve for even a second. The "restriction" that some people feel post op is all due to swelling or, in rare cases, stricture. So while on full liquid phases is it necessary to wait with drinking water if I have something like soup Sent from my SM-G900R7 using the BariatricPal App I don't wait...I drink it all when I can, otherwise it's too hard to get my fluids in for the day.
