Girl, I am not trying to "run you off the site". I never had any beef with you honestly. As a matter of fact, I always liked you. I was shocked when that conversation went down and ever since you've been pulling the mean girl at the playground card, when in fact, well...
You've been gone for days and the first thing you say starts with the name calling? You do you, but again, I will call ANYONE on the name calling, especially when they are pointing fingers at others. I despise it that much.
    Block me.

Actually, I thought you were talking about someone else, but I am always happy to point out hypocrisy. YOU started in with the name calling and I don't care WHO you were directing it at to be quite honest. I will guarantee you this, if someone calls someone else the foulest of names (the C word? REALLY!?!?!), tells someone that almost everyone hates them, tells a group of people to "F" off and then starts pointing fingers?
Heck yeah, I am going to call them on it.
Maybe some introspection needs to be started by you, too.

Old? It was a few weeks ago! And once again, you threw a jab by calling people mean girls and "Catty", you just don't like it when someone pushes you back.
    Weird stuff right there.
What's that saying about dishing it out and taking it?

    RIIIIIIIIGHT???

    Hold up, wait a minute....
Aren't you the one who told another member of this forum that 75% of the members here hate her? Aren't you also the one who entered a political discussion, threw the first punch, dropped the "f" bomb on the rest of the participants in that conversation and then called them the C word?
I have the screen shots of it if your memory is failing.

First and foremost, I never called anyone stupid or uneducated. Second, I posted my opinion in the appropriate section as I have a right to do and clearly many people agree with it.
Suggestion. Scroll up to your name, click on ignore preferences when the drop down menu appears and add my name to your list. Problem solved. Easy, cheesy.

I personally am glad that @@LipstickLady is concerned. I'am learning so much from her (and her pointing out others mistakes) never mind not losing weight, how about you could make your insides explode!? I know I don't want that to happen to me. This app helps me understand what to expect and how to deal with it. We as newbies do not need enablers. Obviously we had those and it lead us to being this over weight. We need vets that can and will tell us we effed up and what can and will happen if we do it again.
Yeah sure, some peoples plans are different but it's the same basic rules. If your fresh out... Don't eat normal food.
I do have a plan for the future, if I'm not sure I should/can eat it. I won't. Until I talk to the doc or nut. I'd much rather have professional input or at least hear from someone that's been in my spot, than throw caution to the wind and wind up sick or worst... Back in the operating room.
So I say thank you to all the "outspoken" vets. I pray you never have to type in all caps to me

I'm not real good at looking away if you haven't noticed. Why? Because there are SO MANY LURKERS in this forum who are reading, reading, reading and if no one speaks up, they are absorbing bad advice and patronizing warm fuzzy validations.
Am I wasting my time? Absolutely. Am I ever going to win any popularity contests for having strong opinions and a big mouth? Probably not. (And I really don't care. I have real life friends who live outside my computer.) Did I get my fair share of finger shakes', eye rolls and kicks in the pants as I went through this process? YUP. Did I learn from those "meanies"? Without a doubt (and DANG I miss them!!) Was I always happy about it? NO FREAKING WAY. But I listened and ultimately, I earned back my health and a MUCH smaller number on the scale.
Giving myself permission to eat what I wanted against the advice of WWs and Jenny Craig and Atkins and South Beach and my doctor got me to 264 pounds. Clearly I **didn't** know my body best and caving to the head hunger and cravings did some permanent damage to my body that can never be undone.
So if even one person can be reached and jolted back into their new reality of WLS, FABULOUS. That's why I waste my time.

When you can no longer shop in your favorite plus size stores anymore
When you and your 12 year old and raiding each others closets
When you reach a weight lower than your hubby and kids
When you buy Jeans from fashion nova in a size 13 (juniors) and they are a little loose so you buy another pair in an 11 and when they arrive you realize you could have gone down 1 more size
When you don't have to try on your clothes anymore when shopping. You can pretty much eyeball it.
When you wear clothes that were purchased as a NSV award during previous weight loss attempts and they are now too big
When people see you and say I want to look like you

That was my first question & biggest concern! My surgery is May 30th & the thought of not being able to chug water freaks me out! That's just how I've always drank it.

The amount of time you can eat only small amounts of food is very short.
I know this before surgery, but you don't really know it until you have lived it.
And you can chug Water again. I was more sad about not being able to chug water than anything else and by 1 year I could chug down water again without taking a breath like a champ.

Great question! Every body is different, and the most important thing is that you eat VERY SLOWLY. Our stomachs nerves are still healing so you may not get that "full" feeling right away. Look for signs of fullness like burping, hiccups, chest tightness, heartburn, even sneezing or coughing. These can all be indicators of fullness. It should take you about 10-15 minutes to eat that scrambled egg. As long as you are taking your time and not getting sick I don't see a problem.

Once I got to the description of the device, I had to stop reading. It would be so much simpler to take the unwanted portion of food and, rather than ingesting it so that a little gadget will spit it out, simply toss it into the trash or back into the refrigerator. This Aspire thingie has less charm that a penny gum ball machine.
On a slightly serious side, it sounds as though it isn't being considered [openly] for people who have had surgery: "The AspireAssist procedure is indicated for adults with a BMI of 35 to 55 who have not succeeded with more conservative therapies."
It may well sell like wildfire. I wonder what horror stories will come out a couple of years along.

siddarhi reacted to AvaFern in How do I tell my surgeon he screwed up?
How about you confirm he screwed up before accusing him of doing so? Did you have a bariatric swallow test? If not, go get one done- you can clearly see the size of your stomach and compare it to others to determine if your surgeon did indeed do something out of the ordinary. Next, request your patient files- they're yours, they have to give them to you. See what size bougie he used and then compare this to the norm for a patient that is comparable to you.
Much as I am completely fine with calling out a surgeon for being incompetent, I like to make sure that I have documentation that he actually did something wrong before I make myself look stupid for nothing.

siddarhi reacted to Kindle in I am man, hear me roar....a nice side effect of HRT
For anyone that missed it, my PCP tested my hormone levels awhile back and turns out I had low testosterone (normal is 20-80 and mine was 11) so I started testosterone replacement therapy. A few weeks after starting HRT, I was putting on my "fancy with the bling on the pockets, can't even wear underwear cause they're so tight" jeans to go to a Kentucky Derby party. Surprisingly, they weren't really that tight. And standing in front of the mirror, I noticed my collar bones were a little more prominent and my ribs were pokin out.
So the next Monday at work I stepped on the scale and it read 135. The lowest number I've ever seen and that was after a weekend of consuming mass quantities of bourbon and sugar disguised as mint julips along with fried chicken, potatoes, and don't forget about all the cupcakes. Must be a fluke I thought. So for the next few weeks I stepped on the scale each Monday and turns out no, it wasn't a fluke. Apparently my normal weight range has dropped from 140-142 to 135-137.
All I can think is its gotta be the testosterone because I'm not dong anything different than I have for the last year. As of last week, my testosterone level was up to 41, and there is a noticeable improvement in my mood and energy level. So between my endometrial ablation that resulted in cessation of menstruation, my complete loss of boobs and butt from WLS, and a boost in testosterone, I guess I've truly let loose my "inner man"..... And he's a much happier, skinnier version of the sad, exhausted woman I was just two months ago.
