    ANY KAISER PERMANENTE SLEEVERS?

Hi I have Kiaser in California and just began the program. I haven't had to a 6 month wait, I'm not sure what that's about perhaps did you read in the literature about a 6 month supervised diet like I did. Well today I went to the information session and they didn't mention it being a requirement. I have my body analysis tomorrow then begin the 12 week options program that's weekly. Afterwards I'm told then we are scheduled for an appointment with the surgeon where they will determine if your ready for surgery. Not to mention we have to loose 10% of your weight. Keep me posted love to keep in touch with someone who is around the same stage as I

    Anyone in Northern California

Hi, I'm I'm los Angeles. But barely starting the process. I'm already excited I've been researching and on forums and it has become a bit consuming.... Okay a lot consuming lol.... 5. Hello I'm praying for you as I type this: Father in the name of Jesus touch this woman right now as she goes into the operating room. Calm every bit of her fears and let her know you are with her even right now. Go to the hospital where she is at and touch her body. Guide the doctors hands as he does the procedure. Give the Doctor the knowledge and ability to handle whatever may arise. But most importantly let this surgery be successful. Let her come out with minimal pain or discomfort. Give your Angels authority to watch over and protect her and everyone who is over her during this surgery, every nurse, aide, assistant and all medical personnel in JESUS NAME AMEN! Your nerves are normal ????

I've decided I want to have the sleeve

congrats to you on surgery glad your coming along well, I'm encouraged by you sharing your experience. Things as small as explaining how you felt satisfied is life changing for me, I'm so excited to be at that stage. I know mine will be well worth it and time will come soon enough.

    Low BMI and Gastric Sleeve

Your situation is exactly what I'm currently dealing with, I have zero support from friends or family because they think I don't need it. They don't see the scale when I get on it, they don't know I'm pre diabetes and pre high cholesterol. My BMI IS 41 I've told them that I'm doing this from a healthier life stand point but they just don't get it. So now I've made up in my mind that I'm not telling them no more. I'm just gonna do it alone after all I'm doing it for me anyways. I'll try and get some of the support I need from these forums I guess.
  11. Thanks everyone for your personal experience and advice it's all appreciated
  12. I know this question will be redundant for many of you but forgive me. I have researched all 3 but I'm still undecided which route to take. I'm aware is my choice but my question is: which surgery did you choose and were the deciding factor (s) for you? I'm about to schedule my informational meeting through Kiaser in southern California. So prior to me going I'm trying to be as knowledgeable as possible but I do realize how important personal experience is! Thanks and be blessed
  13. thanks I've been recently doing more research on the sleeve my issue with it is that it's still relatively new and there is not enough long term research on it What are your "long term" concerns? There is actually more long term data about the gastric sleeve than people realize. This procedure was done as part one of a two step procedure for years, and, eventually it was discovered that the success rate with just doing part one was enough that step two (re-routing intestines) was unnecessary. Furthermore people have had to have stomach reduction surgery for various reasons over the years for ulcers and cancer. Long term, people have done fine in terms of health. If your concern is about long term maintenance of weight loss the numbers for the sleeve are pretty competitive to RnY and better than the lap band. For me, the deciding factors included this: 1) the sleeve does not require as extensive surgery as RnY nor the need for supplements due to malabsorption and 2) the sleeve removes the part of the stomach that affects the production of key hormones and metabolic control so that your hunger is reduced and your metabolism can reset. The second factor was very important to me in terms of my ability to maintain the weight loss. I agree with the others. Continue your research and make the choice that best fits you. Good luck! Thank you for your informative response. It's responses like yours that give me a little more insight than what's in the research. So that's why I'm asking, I want to find out as much as I can to make a decision that will ultimately change my life. I'm not sure if I mentioned but I'm just beginning the research and joining message boards so my information is coming from various sources. This weekend alone I've been dedicating my research on the sleeve. I must say I do find it's information and benefits favorable more than the others. I initially thought I'd do the lap band but all the side effects from people's experience is not something I'd like to deal with, not to mention other factors like the longest term weight loss. Thanks for your help

    Time off work for recovery

thanks a lot for your reply, the reason I'm asking is because I'm not sure how long my employer allows considering I been with the company only 9 months even if I wait until after I been with my job a year I'm not sure how long I would qualify for. But I plan to ask my manager this week so I can plan accordingly
