Any South Florida Sleevers!
rwoods200 replied to Shortlynx2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use skim or almond milk with my Protein shake mix. I use both Vanilla and chocolate flavors of the Pure Protein mix. I personally think the chocolate one tastes like cake mix and the vanilla one is quite pleasant tasting. I've also used orange juice with the vanilla powder and it tastes like an orange julius drink. -

Any August Sleevers?
rwoods200 replied to DrewzWife's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm one week out from surgery tomorrow and I'm still having issues getting all the Protein in. I think I'm doing good with the Water intake but I know I'm not getting in enough protein yet. But I've talked to other sleevers and they have said that they are still not getting enough and these ladies are years out. Anyhoo, I'm down 18 pounds since starting my liquid diet on August 9th so I'm really happy! -

I wish I was already on my pre op diet! LOL! I have to do an entire week of liquids and then clear liquids the day before surgery. It still seems so far off but August 9th will be here before I know it. -
Its gonna be here before we know it!!!! I can't wait! One more visit with the surgeon and one more class right before surgery and I'm in the operating room! So much to get ready that it hardly seems real!

Good Luck!!! I'm sure you are going to rock this and before you know it you will be waking up in recovery ready to start your new life! -
I can't wait until I can buy non plus sized clothes. I just got back last Sunday from Las Vegas and man oh man did I wish I'd already had my surgery! LOL! All the cute swim suites and tanks I saw.....not to mention all the cute clubbing clothes! I can't wait for that perk of being able to buy cute clothes that don't look like an old lady dress.

I don't know if I count but I'm across the way in Fort Myers. My surgeon is Dr. Thomas Bass and I should get my surgery date any day now. -
I had my Endo yesterday (Friday) and found a haital hernia which my surgeon said he can fix during surgery. I have my very last class on July 15th..... so since the Endo is done, I'm awaiting approval and a surgery date!!!!!
-
I'm not sure if its normal or not but I'd get checked out if it gets to be too bad. Gotta keep you healthy for surgery! On the other hand.. I'm taking it that they didn't find a hernia? If so that's awesome and I'm glad that your issues are going to be solved with medicine. Rhonda

My second class with the surgeons office is on Monday. So excited that I'm almost done with those! Then a surprise weekend trip to Las Vegas and my Endo on the 19th. Then just one more class with the surgeons office that I believe is after surgery. So hopefully, fingers crossed, I'm done and can get a surgery date. At least that's what I'm hoping and praying for! I should be having my surgery around that same time as well. Fingers crossed that everything works out with insurance and I get approved with no issues. I'm a little taller than you are but our weight is close to the same. I'm in Florida and will be having surgery with Dr. Thomas Bass in Fort Myers. -
I'm not taking them yet, but if you have a CVS near you they have most all of the Vitamins we need after surgery in chewable form. They also have really good buy one get one specials on vitamins. Rhonda

Congrats to those of you who have been approved!!!! When the time comes for my case to be approved, the success you all have had gives me hope of being approved with little to no issues. Again Congrats!!! Rhonda

My surgeons office wouldn't even schedule a consult for me before they had some type of clearance from Aetna. I filled out the form on their website

That's awesome @@perk4756 ! I had my Nut appointment yesterday and that went better than expected. I was afraid I'd be given a ton of things to do or change or thought she'd try to talk me out of surgery all together but really she told me I was the ideal candidate and a perfect patient! LOL! Worried over nothing and happy to learn that my need to research every little thing about this journey has so far paid off!
-
Now I'm kinda worried! LOL! I have Aetna as well and have actually gained 4 pounds since my first weigh in with the surgeon. Wondering if that is just a natural weight flux that might go away as quickly as it started. Hmmm... My surgeons office hasn't said anything about it, but I wonder if it will matter that much since I have 3 of the 4 co morbilities that Aetna require for a patient with a BMI under 40.

Its funny because I thought that I was the only one obsessing about having this surgery. I too have imagined myself buying smaller clothes, walking/running or even climbing steps without being winded, and amusement park rides...Its scary because as soon as those thoughts pop up it seems like the little devil on my shoulder starts taunting me with worries about not getting approved through insurance or the surgery not working for me. Since I made this decision I have researched, researched and researched some more. I've actually been able to tell some of my coworkers who have had this surgery things. Every time I get a call from the Surgeons office regarding another step in this process, I get excited and can't wait to get to my computer to research the new step. (I've already had my Psych eval and the second of the three required classes at my surgeons office is scheduled. My one and only Nut appointment is this coming Wednesday and my Endoscopy will be sometime next month.) Its a long road to surgery and its nerve wracking and scary.... Thankfully, we have this message board and all the wonderful people here to lean on and help us along our journey. I wish you luck in you journey! Rhonda
