That was my experience exactly! Congrats. The oxy is great. I took it round the clock even if the pain was fine because once it flares up you want to die. I stopped about 3 days after I got home and then took it once or twice at night only. My only advice is don't overdo movement even when you feel good. I definitely have been and I am sooooo sore by the end of the day Lol. I'm two weeks post op!

I'm Two weeks out and my incisions are all scabbed and good. I sleep on my side I can RolL over gingerly. I only took a week off I feel like I had to hut the ground running. I'm basically back to full speed just get tired faster. I had a quick recovery -
30/30 rule with protein shakes
rnyryry replied to F4T-TRAP's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wait to make sure I don't intake too much too fast. I am 2 weeks post op and can swallow all protein shakes and have started on pured foods. Go st your own pace with your docs advice. -
Ditto! chew chew chew and don't eat foods that are too hard to begin with, I have felt them get stuck even with extensive chewing. I have the full feeling now, I haven't gotten uncomfortably full, just a one or two bite too much full, it's a learning curve for sure.

Gastric Bypass recovery
rnyryry replied to Karlnjax's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went back to school exactly one week after. It was hard, I was very tired and sitting was uncomfortable. I am currently 1.5 weeks out and feel pretty good, I am back to my daily activities. It depends on your pain tolerance and any complications that occurred. I could have done well with 2 full weeks off and been fine. I was clawing the walls during the one week but was still pretty tired after normal tasks like going to the bathroom. My side stitch is still tight so I have to be careful because it can get pretty sore with too much movement. -
I hear ya. I just wanted to take my mom.put to my fave food places and couldn't and felt so defeated but that's how I got here, place so much emphasis on food. We will eat again...soon Lol n

yes. Gas strips. Two at a time, one after another and it helps. Burp burp burp. I started feeling them in my shoulder. Took a good three days for them to work them all out. Hang in there!

try nectar flavorless in water with crystal light. There's barely any taste, maybe a slight scent of the powder but that may help from the sweet shakes

Eating too few calories can prevent weight loss. I am in the same boat but just congratulate myself when no have a good day and try to remember this is a learning curve. Crying also helps Lol

Late May 2015 surgery date - check in!
rnyryry replied to SeattleDeb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
May 19th, a lot of fatigue and side pain from the largest incision. Had two episodes of dumping from dairy but otherwise slow and steady! -
Oatmeal, weight control with lactaod milk BC I'm intolerant. I split it in two meals. Egg whites, finely minced chicken with overcooked rice Lol. Anything that can be chewed to death. Avoid things with skin though. Enjoy!

Finally Surgery Week May 25-31
rnyryry replied to dolphin_girl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Stay on the meds and nausea meds round the clock even if you aren't nauseous or in a pot of pain. It helps tremendously -
Call them now. I had diarrhea for two days and called and their suggestions cleared it right up. Don't wait, they are experts. In the hospital I was dehydrated and told them and they pumped me with fluids right away. Don't prolong your agony Lol

I'll try and explain...

Chew until is dead and take at least 15-20 mins to eat. I felt the same way but its trial and error. You have to eat lol -
This actually happened tonight!
rnyryry replied to SkinnyDown's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my own private room, all patients in my floor did. Do not insult others on this page because perhaps your hospital stay wasn't as pleasurable. I was able to sleep at night, watch the tv if I wanted, whenever I wanted. I'm an adult Lol. I also requested to get up and walk quite often on my own. Each hospital and staff is different. My nurses were awesome. I understand her frustration at being work up as getting comfortable is an hour long process. I was woken up at 4am to be weighed just as I fell asleep. I totally get it. -
After Gastric Bypass - In ICU
rnyryry replied to Karlnjax's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No ICU for me either -
The 2nd day was by far the worst, I wasn't in pain just uncomfortable. I am now 5 days post op and did some shopping today and made Breakfast for my mom. I still get tired easily and my side hurts sometimes but overall I am so much better. I feel like the hospital bed made it worse. Stay on those pain meds, they made me pass out as well but thats good in a way, I would rather pass out and be in no pain. I took them round the clock for the first 4 days because pain+weakness+head hunger+hospital=misery.

How can I be stalled at 10 days post surgery
rnyryry replied to trishaz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Remember all the fluid and air they pumped you with. Your body think its starving right now so it needs to re-calibrate. I am 5 days post op and have only weighed myself once because I was up 5 pounds from surgery date because they pumped me with extra fluids because I was dehydrated. I can also tell I am still swollen. My advice would be to stop weighing yourself everyday. Weight fluctuates throughout the SAME day, you are going to make yourself crazy. Good luck! -
I am 5 days post op and feel the same! I am hungry and want everything I see to eat. When will I feel the restriction?
-
That would be asking for justification for your bad choices. We are only human. We make mistakes and bad choices. But at least own up to it. I feel that by posting about it we are owning up to it. As this is a journey, we want to know we are not alone. Guarantee anything you have done, someone else has done and can offer support, advice, wisdom, etc.

Liver Reduction Diet... SUCKS.
rnyryry replied to erinmay93's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
STAY BUSY! that will definitely help and I try to space out the shakes so I don't get overly hungry, like have them at regular intervals. I definitely struggled with my pre-op diet and had a lot of frozen meals with lots of protein because the shakes were getting old. I have changed my eating habits a lot in the past two weeks even with eating food instead of shakes and don't feel like I hindered myself at all. Everyday is a struggle to get through the head hunger of wanting something, ANYTHING that is greasy, fried, cheesy, etc. Just because I decided to have this surgery doesn't mean I forget my favorites or love my protein shakes. It's a process that I take a day at a time. I spent 26 years making these habits, a 2 week diet isn't going to reverse that. Acknowledge your feelings, fall down, get back up. It will get easier! -
