And the hair shedding has begun...good thing I have really thick hair lol
-
The fun has begun! Even if it is only temporary.
That's what I thought, too. Settle in for the long haul.
My excessive shedding started within a couple months, then about week 13 it started coming out in clumps when I shampooed; lasted about 4 weeks. Now back to just normal shedding, but it's taking so long for new hair to grow back in. The hair loss has caused my crown cowlick to really stand up and the hair in that area is growing in quite curly according to my hairdresser.

I thought that the Biotin was to be taken to prevent the hair loss. Is that not the case with you two ladies? What are you doing wearing wigs? I will be 60 and I see hair in my brush each week. If approved I am suppose to have the surgery in 2016. I can't imagine what I will look like if clumps of my hair are coming out. Why does it come out any way are we lacking something after surgery that allows the hair to grow?

@ssflbelle - I started taking biotin prior to surgery, along with the calcium citrate, etc. The biotin is supposed to help encourage hair growth. I honestly cannot say one way or the other if it has. I do know that a lot of people do lose more hair than what is normal for them when they have a significant weight loss. My hair was quite thick to begin with so everyone who knows me and sees me daily just thinks I've just gotten a new hair cut (smile). I do get it trimmed regularly - 4 weeks between appts. whereas pre-surgery I got my hair trimmed every 6 weeks. No, I'm not wearing a wig I will be 60 in October. The clump hair loss was noticeable only by me and my hubby. Remember: THE HAIR LOSS IS TEMPORARY (just very frustrating for me).
