ShrinkingPeach replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions

I think success is up to you no matter the procedure you choose.

Full of Anxiety
ShrinkingPeach replied to thinner-me's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nervous about surgery? Normal Anxious to get going? Normal Take time to make sure you are prepared, get your grocery shopping for post-op done, clean the house, get the laundry done. Make sure everything is done so you can relax and recuperate. Occupy yourself and the time will be here before you know it! Good luck!! -
Ready to give up on trying to lose weight
ShrinkingPeach replied to curlychic32's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't give in to temptation. The food you ate before and the habits you had got you here. You can do this! You can do exercises with an injured ankle. Google chair exercises. Lift light weights while sitting. Keep your eyes on the prize and focus on what you CAN do and not what you can't. Good luck!! -

6 Days Post Op - Calories
ShrinkingPeach replied to WPBFoodie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Initially I couldn't consume many calories. focus on getting as much Protein in and fluids as you can. It is difficult at first as your new tummy is swollen. Every day will get better. Keep something in hand at all times, be it Water or a Protein Drink. Good luck! You will get there. -
Never in my life did I think I would share this!
ShrinkingPeach replied to Elode's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Elode, Thanks for the share. You are such an inspiration to the rest of us working at it. I cannot wait to say I have lost 100 pounds even though I have more to go after that. You are one of a handful on here that have your s**t together. Thanks again and congrats!!! -

Really, really scared about surgery
ShrinkingPeach replied to sonnysun's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@sonnysun, you know the statistics so that won't help. What should help is knowing that your current path is not a healthy one and this surgery will be a tool for you to turn your life around. Your daughter needs you and will be so proud of her mom who took control of her life. You will be around for many milestones with her when you are in a healthier state. This is a major surgery and not something to take lightly but the odds are in your favor with a great surgery team. We always hear about the tragedies in life because they make better story telling but the successes far outweigh those. You will be so glad when you are on the other side of this and losing the weight. Hang in there, you are almost there! Good luck and God bless! -
Protein powder - Smaller scoop?
ShrinkingPeach replied to ttdish's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
100% Whey Protein Isolate is the way to go as it is a higher percentage of protein. You can always add more liquid (Water, almond milk etc) to thin it out. As you are able to consume more you can pull back on the Fluid. Just sip on it longer to get it in. The protein is very important! -
Got the opportunity to meet Kelly Clarkson last night before her concert here in Atlanta. When I looked at my pic with her, I am very close to her size. An eye-opening moment. This journey is incredible!

Off My Diabetes Meds After Sleeve
ShrinkingPeach replied to SleeveSoon's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Congrats!! I came off all my blood sugar meds (Victoza and Glipizide) day of surgery and have been off since. I recently came off my cholesterol meds! As the weight comes off our health really does improve. -
I do 3 meals and 2 Snacks a day at 900 calories. I don't really get hungry but maybe spreading out the calories might help if you had a small snack high in Protein between meals? That might quiet the hunger and the feeling of waiting so long to eat again. Also make sure you are getting in your fluids in. Good luck, it really can be a struggle!

I told my co-workers and only a couple friends. I will never tell my family for those same reasons. I know from past experience that they would be the worst. I cannot wait until Christmas when I see them because they have harped on me my whole life about my weight and I am currently at 91 pounds lost and hope to be down close to 130-150 by then. I cannot wait to see my step-,others jaw drop to the floor. Surgery of any kind is a personal and private matter and who you choose to share with is your business. When you confide in someone it is not their story to share. So sorry you feel a bit out of control of the situation, but hold your head high and Celebrate your success!!

I think it hit me tonight... my worries
ShrinkingPeach replied to Leesa926's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I also felt this way before surgery. I worried that the feeling of "missing out" would make me regret my decision. The only thing I regret is not having done this sooner. With every milestone I hit I feel better and better. I am so excited to see the weight coming off that it helps me to make those good decisions about what to eat. Since I really never get hungry I don't regret the changes I have made. I don't crave those carbs and sweets since I have not had them in months now. When I think I wish I could have xyz, I just think "Do you really want to start those cravings up again?" and the answer is always NO! lol Surgery doesn't mean you won't ever be able to have some things again, just not much of it. When I was at my highest weight my life revolved around food and now my head is so much clearer and I can do other things. I am already healthier and happier and I am only halfway there! You can do this!! Good luck!!!!! -
Dont judge me I need some guidance
ShrinkingPeach replied to jackiemc1987's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you can't touch it then you won't eat it...I can't have bad things in the house or I will eat them so I don't buy them. You know what to do or you wouldn't ask. You already know the advice you will get, purchase healthy choices and stick to your plan. Good luck!! You can do this! -
From the album: ShrinkingPeach
almost 4 months post op, down 54 inches -
Down 91 pounds as of today! My brain still hasn't caught up...

How often did you see surgeon pre op?
ShrinkingPeach replied to Leesa926's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Saw him at my consult and one pre-op appointment a week before surgery. -
Unable to reach protein goal
ShrinkingPeach replied to skirby22's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Initially after surgery it is difficult to get ANYTHING in. Focus on Protein and Water. Get as much of those in as you can. Protein helps you heal and water to keep you hydrated, both things you need right now. Every day will get better and better. It may take you all day to get it in. That is why you see "sip, sip, sip". -
Not weighing things and waiting to feel full doesn't work for everyone. I would recommend weighing if you feel like you might sabotage yourself. If you only eat what is on your plate then you will stick to your plan better. I think at some points we are all afraid of failure. This surgery works, look at all the veterans on here. Use them for your inspiration and work your plan. Hopefully as you lose you will begin to inspire yourself also...Good luck!

Food Regrets Over Time?
ShrinkingPeach replied to thinner-me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can still make easy choices but it can be a challenge. Eat a deconstructed sandwich. Drive-thru's are not the best choice but you CAN find something to eat if you need to. The drive thru and the choices we made are part of what brought us here. I try to stay away from those but have had a small Wend's chili and a grilled 4 count nugget from Chik-fil-A. I, for one, am happy that I can't eat that stuff anymore. -
I tried some before surgery but they were like packing peanuts to me. I just don't do chips anymore.
