Frustrated and depressed
ShrinkingPeach replied to dem16's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Some weeks you may lose more, some less. 4.3 pounds per week is great! You are right where you should be. Don't compare yourself to others just keep your eyes on the goal. Everyone is so different. Follow your plan and success is attainable, just on your body's schedule! Good luck!! -
In a time crunch
ShrinkingPeach replied to crazysexycool93's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Once all the info is turned in to insurance it typically goes pretty fast. Make sure and double check that everything is done and make sure your surgeon's office gets it all turned in ASAP and then become the squeaky wheel to the pre-cert department of your insurance company. Good luck! -
Congrats!! I know you are very excited, I still remember the call from my surgeon's office. Wishing you a smooth surgery and a speedy recovery! Get those before photos and measurements done!
-
Welcome! What surgery are you having? I am 4 months post-op sleeve myself.

Slow losers Club
ShrinkingPeach replied to Beachsprite's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The weight loss does seem to fluctuate and just because it is 2 pounds now doesn't mean it won't be different some weeks. Yeah maybe you could have lost 2 pounds a week at Weight Watchers but did you? Hang in there and the weight loss will come. Have faith in your plan and keep on going! You've got this! -
Empty feeling
ShrinkingPeach replied to agalindo17's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also do a Protein shake daily for breakfast. It is a convenience factor for me and I drink them on the way to work. My team if supportive of that. Of course the preference is that you get the bulk of your protein from food but the protein shake is fine long term. There are those in my support group that still do them years out. -
Feeling defeated :(
ShrinkingPeach replied to LoseItKacy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
When people are negative with regard to any aspect I often wonder what is it in their own life that compels them to tell others what to do. She is probably not in a good place herself or maybe jealous of you. Maybe she is scared she will no longer be the skinny friend. Regardless, this is more about her than it is about you. Surround yourself with positive people and with those who treat you as you deserve to be treated. I would respond to her that she has no idea of the struggles in your life and that she cannot possibly predict the future for you with this surgery. She can either come along for an amazing journey with her friend or be left behind. If she cannot be supportive then she isn't your friend. I also would say let her go and move on with your life. The best revenge is happiness! -
Gained 2lbs 3wks postop
ShrinkingPeach replied to Jazziminna's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
You can have Fluid retention from day to day. I don't know how often you weigh but it can fluctuate greatly from day to day. I weigh every day but try to see where the trend is going. Hang in there, this is very common and if you follow your plan the weight loss WILL happen! You can do this! -
I want to eat everything
ShrinkingPeach replied to cookies_queen's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I read a lot of people have those "food funerals". I didn't do it before my surgery but if you will feel better then do what you need to. I have found that I don't even want those things after surgery so I really, honestly don't miss them. It isn't that you can't have everything you did before but most of the time healthy Protein first means you get full and won't be able to. Since I am losing weight I am okay with that! Good luck to you and enjoy your restaurant hopping!! -
Has anybody fainted ?
ShrinkingPeach replied to Petunia1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't fainted but I have had a few dizzy moments. My blood pressure is coming down with the weight loss and my PCP is playing catch up with what dose to take as I lose. It typically happens when I bend over or when I have been sitting and stand. Hoping your labs are great but help as to what is happening! -
Band Failed at putting weight back on
ShrinkingPeach replied to Kaishek's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I hope your surgeon helps with your situation. I agree I would want to do it before you gain a lot back and feel like you have to start over. Good luck and keep us posted! -

I can't wait to.....

Every step I take toward goal. Every time I need new smaller clothes. Every new victory spurs me forward... -
It doesn't matter what others think, it is what works for you that matters. I weigh almost every day but then I don't let the scale drive me crazy, it is just what I do before my shower when I get up. I will say there will be times when the inches are coming off but the scale doesn't move. I would suggest taking your measurements pre-op and maybe once a month to track progress. I am so glad I took my measurements cos even when stalled I lose inches. Good luck!!

That is up to you. Do you want to cook so many different options? I would put a healthy meal on the table and sit to eat. If someone wants something else, they know where the kitchen is. It is inconsiderate to expect you to do more work than necessary. It is never a bad idea for everyone to eat healthy. Good luck and always feel free to rant!

Pre-surgery - Emotionally STUCK!
ShrinkingPeach replied to bhopeful's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
In a one word response...YES! lol As I prepared for surgery it seemed as though my life revolved around the process. At 4 months post-op I have settled into a routine. I still visit here and read and respond to posts and I attend my monthly support group meeting but my life is settling into the new normal. As time passes you will most likely settle into a routine and life will carry on. -
How long did it take to get surgery scheduled once insurance was approved?
ShrinkingPeach replied to jobillandjosh's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was scheduled within two weeks once insurance approved. I had to do a two week pre-op diet or it probably would have been sooner. -
3 month Post-Op checkup

Awesome! Happy dance! -
I love breakfast foods but hate making the extra effort to cook really early before work. I have a Protein shake that I make with Protein powder, unsweetened almond milk, Folgers coffee drops and ice. Just like Starbucks and I drink it on the way to work. On the weekends I usually have a one egg omelette with veggies inside or a scrambled egg with a sausage link. You can change up the veggies and spices for different flavors. You could use turkey bacon or turkey sausage.

Protein bars or Protein shakes? For shakes I did the premier also and now I do Jay Robb Protein powder. For Protein Bars I did Quest ones initially and now do Pure Protein or Premier Protein bars. Google upper body exercises and low impact exercises. Those will help not be so hard on your knees until you can do more. There is tons of stuff out there for every condition so that you can still get moving. Good luck!

I was on our home treadmill at 2 weeks post-op and fell onto my stomach and slid back to the floor. I panicked and called the surgeon's office after hours. The surgeon called back and assured me I didn't damage anything but I have a long scar from wrist to elbow on my left arm from the edge of the tread. I still hate that treadmill...lol I am sure you may have pulled something but will probably be fine. Call your surgeon's office again if they don't call you back.

10 Bariatric Mistakes - Do any apply to you?
ShrinkingPeach replied to ThreeFifty's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Bahahaha pureed cupcake!! Like, like, like! There is always someone here who advises to buck the system and yeah there are those just waiting for someone to give them permission to do so. When you call them out they get angry. Like you are the bad guy. Love your post!! Excellent! -
Quest bars and weight loss
ShrinkingPeach replied to marypups's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Agreed that everyone is different but I have a Protein bar every day, sometimes Quest and sometimes others. I have not had any issue with weight loss so far. If that changes then I may reevaluate them but if I have consistently lost weight over the last 9 months with eating them then I would dare say they are not the culprit if my weight loss slows down. -
Tell me about weight stall at 3weeks post op
ShrinkingPeach replied to mimorison's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone has it, the body is resetting and you may still be losing inches even though the scale isn't moving. Hang in there!!
