Did I eat too much?
ShrinkingPeach replied to sleevedlife123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It varies from person to person but I would say this. At this point you are still healing and if you are waiting for the sensation of being full or pain it may not happen. You need to measure your foods to keep control over your portions. Everyone is different but when I switched to soft foods I could not eat a whole scrambled egg alone much less with added cheese. Follow your plan and the volume of food it says. Good luck!! -

Pre-op Moody/emotional
ShrinkingPeach replied to JudeaJordon's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is normal to be emotional, you have a lot going on. You are planning for a big surgery and a major change to your life. The relationship you have with food is about to change forever. That is a lot to process and can be overwhelming. Just take one day at a time and breathe. The other side is so wonderful that you will look back after surgery and be amazed. Good luck to you all and wishing you smooth surgeries and rapid recoveries!!! -
Help! Can someone help me interpret my SPD?
ShrinkingPeach replied to Louky's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
You are right, you must have one documented attempt to lose weight within the last 6 months. You are not required by insurance to be on a supervised diet plan. Your surgeon's office may have different requirements than your insurance though, so check that out. -
It is amazing how everyone has an opinion and how they go one step further and feel they have the right to judge or tell you what to do. You are doing this for yourself and not others. Yes yu will get more years with your wife but first and foremost it is for YOU. You don't owe anyone an explanation. It is your choice who to share with and who not to share with. This is your journey and your's alone, leave out those who will not enhance it. Build a support group of those you trust and Celebrate your success. I have told none of my family, only my husband and his oldest son (14). I told 3 friends and haven't heard from them since. Their loss not mine. That says more about them and not me. Good luck!!

Write that mantra on your bathroom mirror so you see it every day...you can do this! Good luck!!!

Well so here I am.
ShrinkingPeach replied to Desmond Longbottom's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Congratulations on making a huge step in becoming healthy. Yes you will show them soon! You will be amazed at how much better you feel every day as the weight comes off. I agree, parents do't teach any manners to their children these days, that seems to be universal. Of course sometimes the parents are just as rude so go figure. Please do keep us posted on your progress and good luck with your surgery! Wishing you a speedy recovery! -

Packed up a huge number of clothes today that still fit!
ShrinkingPeach replied to marypups's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good for you! Letting go of the old life and embracing the new! I also got rid of all my clothes that were current and too big. I am committed to this and never going back. If I wear clothes that flatter and fit I also can see the progress I am making. Others notice as well when the clothes actually fit. Good for you!! -
Food Funeral, Last Meals?
ShrinkingPeach replied to nicash4's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I see some on here post about the food binges they go on saying goodbye to foods they won't ever have again. I guess my question would be why would you want to have those foods? At this point you have made a decision to get healthy. Those foods have made you very unhealthy. For me, after surgery, I don't even want those foods. Before surgery I made my mind up that those foods were not good for my health and I always felt miserable after eating them. I felt bloated and sick, overfull and like a slug. My weight climbed as high as 350 pounds and that was definitely unattractive. My clothes didn't fit and I had difficulty finding ones that did. Take this time instead to begin eating healthy and committing to this new lifestyle. Find things that are fresh, taste good and fulfill yourself in other ways other than food. Start a journal about your feelings and figure out why food filled that space. Just my two cents, I am definitely not a veteran yet and I have a way to go to get to my goal. I just figured the more I ost before surgery, the closer I was to my goal after surgery. Good luck to you whatever you decide! -
The only bad things about cravings is that they could possibly cause you to crave more. You have done so awesome!! Why go back at this point?
-
Sounds like you are doing great. Agree with everything you are doing so far. You can also research things to eat at each of your plan's stages (soft foods etc). Find tasty ways to get through it. If you haven't already, find a Protein shake flavor or two that you like. Get an inexpensive food scale so you can measure after surgery. 2 months will go by before you know it! Good luck!
-
Congrats! Glad things are moving right along for you! Surgery day will be here before you know it. Learn as much as you can so you are prepared and follow your plan! Regardless of the differences you see here, your plan will work!! Good luck!

17lbs n a month
ShrinkingPeach replied to gabbisha's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sooo...17 pounds in one month. Sounds amazing to me. At 17 pounds a month you would lose to goal weight in less than a year. Why so sad? -
Still can't get used to the fact my thighs no longer touch when I walk...can't even remember when that was last possible..l.before high school?
-
It really is the weirdest feeling...lol Makes me aware that I cannot remember last when I didn't have that. Thanks everyone! It truly is a great NSV!

How did your doc know it was time to take you off BP meds?
ShrinkingPeach replied to nomorechubbybutt63's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For some the markers for HBP are not resolved by weight loss. For some the weight definitely makes a difference. Day of surgery I was removed from both blood sugar meds and never went back to them. At 4 months out I was removed from my cholesterol med as I am now well into normal range. Now, for the HBP. I noticed at about 30 pounds lost that I felt dizzy when standing up or bending over, my dose was reduced. Then I felt that again here recently so my dose was reduced again...a bit more and I think I will be fortunate to be off them. Stay in communication with your PCP and check your own BP at home. Keep a log and send/show it to your PCP at your visits. Your pressure's will change as you lose and they will need to monitor them. Good luck! -
I don't miss much. I thought I would miss taking Motrin but I honestly have not had a single headache since surgery which amazes me. I thought I would miss Pasta, potatoes and rice but I get so full from my Protein and non-starchy veggie that I don't even really think about it. It is funny that before surgery the lifestyle we live seems like we will miss so many of those bad habits that got us to where we are, but in the end it is not really an issue. Life is so much better and I have so much more energy so far that I am forging a better relationship with food. Hopefully that new relationship will serve me well going forward and get me to goal.

"Although the number of fat cells in your body cannot be reduced, it is possible to make them smaller. When you lose weight, the size of your fat cells will shrink, leaving you with a leaner, slimmer physique. Although it's true that trimming fat is all about burning more calories than you consume, specific nutrients, notably Protein, can help speed up the process."
