Can anyone else eat this much?

I think for a lot of us, we don't have that feeling of being full. For me, I will always measure my food so I don't overeat ever again. I don't want to stretch my sleeve out. The fact that you can eat more may also depend sometimes of what it is. Good luck and good for you for measuring, keep it up!
  3. I am a little newer than the others but it has been a decision I am thankful for every day. I have also been overweight my entire life. Lost up to 80 pounds a couple times but stalled and gave up. My joints ached, my back ached, there was a lot I couldn't do so my life was limited. I am 14 days post-op and started this change of eating habits mid January. I am down 52 pounds and already have more energy. I don't ever really feel hunger yet. I am on soft foods so far and I am satisfied with very little. I am down from a size 32 to a size 22 and that just amazes me. Keep us posted on how you do. Good luck on this amazing ride!

Congrats on the weight loss so far! That is weight you don't have to lose after. I didn't have issues with my 2 week pre-op diet also. Good luck on your journey and what a great learning experience for better eating habits for the kids!

    Who was your surgeon?

Dr.William Johnson, surgery done at Emory Johns Creek Hospital as outpatient. His in-house NUT is Tracy. Surgery was May 15th, I am 13 days post-op. I would HIGHLY recommend him. I had no gas, no nausea and have lost 52 pounds since my consult. 21 pounds since pre-op.

Share your rants about the fashion industry!

UGH! Sleeveless shirts...not with these arms. Clothes that are shaped like pup tents...it needs to fit or it makes you look bigger. Ugly patterns...guess they have to use that fabric for someone so why not the plus sized clothes? The stores that DO carry plus size clothing but only have 1-2 of the larger ones and tons of 18/20's, they are sold out before you even get to the store. Lack of options in the first place. So looking forward to getting into smaller sizes.

I just got my surgery date!

Congrats Cara! How exciting! Begin not drinking while eating and for at least 30 minutes after. Practice eating slowly and chewing. If you haven't already do tons of research for things you can eat/drink per your nutritionist plan. Get yourself a scale to measure your food. Go ahead and reduce carbs and increase protein. It will help the eating habit change be not such a shock. Good luck!! Any questions ask away! I am 13 days post op and down 52 pounds since beginning this journey. Down 21 pounds since my pre-op. This is a great tool with other changes to your life!

    I'm in need of help.

The more protein you eat the better...starches should be limited

    Plateau

Plateau's are going to happen. With rapid weight loss the body has to play catch up. Fluid intake is a key component tho so really try to get it in. You will definitely notice a difference when you drink enough! Good luck!

    1 Question for everyone

That I had an unhealthy relationship with food. It isn't a social event or just something to do when I am bored. That I would rather be healthy than fat. I am sure there are more lessons to come but that is a start!
  18. ShrinkingPeach

    Someone please answer!

Totally agree... with regard to the amount you are eating, try not to eat more. at this stage according to my nutritionist I should be able to eat 4 ounces, so I measure my food. I don't wish to stretch my sleeve which is possible to do. Check with your nutritionist and see what their plan is for you and measure. Idk if we can really rely on "feeling full" anymore. Good luck!

    Hello everyone!

Welcome Nellie! Congrats on making a life changing decision! I am also so sorry that you have not been supported. People can be so mean and it just means they are unhappy within themselves so they have to bring you down to make themselves feel better. You will be a huge success and then they will be jealous of that...just know you are doing the right thing and look to where you will be a year from now. Good luck on your journey!!

3 weeks pre op vertical sleeve

I am 11 days post-op and I read everything I could get my hands on. I researched the foods I would be eating after surgery and went ahead and cut out all the bad stuff. I researched what I could eat at each stage and prepared for them but noting things I could do to make it less boring and flavorful without adding calories. It was less of a shock than abruptly changing after surgery when I had so much more going on as well. I am currently in the soft food phase and its great! I had some nervous moments before surgery also but it has been amazing so far and I am excited for you both!! Good luck and see you on the loser's bench.
