    Out patient or not

I had my sleeve as an outpatient. Arrived at hospital at 5:30 am, surgery at 7:30 am, home at 1:30 pm. I did fine and was glad to be home. After surgery I went to recovery and when I woke I came back upstairs, walked around the halls and had to pee before being released. You will do fine, just follow instructions! Good luck!

    newbie :)

My last visit was a check of all my vitals and a weigh in. I spent a few hours in class going over the process and the post-op diet. Then I met with the surgeon for any last minute questions, then I went to the hospital for my final pre-op. Easy breezy! Good Luck!
  4. I took the pain meds for 3 days and then I was good. The more you walk the better, try not to sit a lot. Get rest when you can but get up and move. Good luck!

    New :))

Congrats and welcome! Everyone for the most part has issues initially getting their Protein in. Focus on getting as much Fluid in as you can and the rest will come. Are you on clear or full liquids at this point. If you are on clear, then Isopure makes a ready to drink zero carb bottled drink with 40 grams of carbs in it. If yu are on full liquids then you can do Protein shakes. Make sure the protein you do is whey protein isolate because it has a higher percentage of protein. Good luck and again welcome!

    Vitamins and supplements?

Calcium is the leading mineral supplement taken by Americans. Many people also take Iron supplements to prevent or treat iron-deficiency anemia. You should not take calcium and iron supplements together, because mixing the minerals may reduce the absorption of iron from your intestines. http://www.livestrong.com/article/436543-should-calcium-and-iron-supplements-be-taken-together/ If you take a multivitamin containing iron (or an iron supplement) and you take a calcium supplement, it’s a good idea to take them at different times. High doses of calcium, especially calcium carbonate, the form found in most supplements, can block the absorption of iron. - See more at: http://www.quickanddirtytips.com/health-fitness/healthy-eating/dont-mix-calcium-iron#sthash.GWkdsYZp.dpuf No you can't. @LisaLouBop. even the MD I work for says you can't.

    6 days postop: parental issues

Agree with the others, so sorry you are having to deal with the stress of all that. It's not fair to have to hide in your bedroom when it s your house. I would speak to them and tell them if they cannot be supportive then to not say anything at all about it. Take your time and rest, don't go back to work too soon. It takes time to heal and recuperate. Good luck and stand your ground! You have already achieved the toughest part, be proud of your decision!

This is 58 Lbs on Me :/

We also lose weight in different areas differently. For me the waist is the last to go. I can absolutely see the difference. Way to go and keep up the good work. Do the measurements, you will be shocked as you go.

    Advice

I used to overeat but I am committed to this and I measure my food. I can only eat 1/2 cup and I make sure to eat only that. That being said I ate 1/2 cup of food the other day and it was about 1-2 bites too much and my new tummy hurt for about 10-15 minutes. That may change later as I am further out but my plan to avoid that is to ALWAYS measure my food and only eat the amount that is okay for me to eat. I didn't go through surgery to mess it up and fail again. This sleeve is just a tool and it also requires me to develop a new relationship with food. I had to change my mindset on what and how much I eat. If I don't respect the sleeve, the sleeve will make me pay.

    Vitamins and supplements?

It is very important to NOT take your Iron and calcium together...they cancel each other out. Just FYI

Will we have to low carb for ever?

Exactly as Sam said. You do NEED some carbs in your diet but it's all about the ones you choose. Don't cut out all carbs. And as always protein first, veggies second and then f you have room...

Idk if I want to have the surgery

We all get nervous before for the most part. I saw my surgeon at my consult and didn't see him again until my last pre-op visit before surgery...so about 5 months later? His staff took care of everything and I was in process the whole time but there really wasn't anything I needed him for until surgery. You can also ask questions if you need to, message me anytime. You have made a great decision and it is healthy to be nervous, it is a big change in your life!!

    Repeatedly overeating

The problem that got me here was what I ate and how much I ate. I asked my surgeon what size the sleeve was and how much it would hold. I measure and that's all I allow on my plate to force me to stop. Right now at 3 weeks post op I can't eat much but there will come a time I am sure when I can and I don't want to regain. I ask for to go boxes anytime I am out and box it up. I mix and match with other things for my lunches and dinners til it's gone. Told my hubby I am a cheap date now lol

Wow....40 pounds is alot of weight

It is crazy what we are carrying around. There is a site called ilostwhat.com and if you key in what you lost in pounds it gives you a real life item of equivalent weight. It can be quite funny!

@@*Lexie*, have you tried that with ground turkey? Sounds yummy, might have to try that. The family had spaghetti last night and I made meat sauce and turkey meat balls. I had /2 cup of just sauce and 2 small meatballs. Was yummo!!
