Surgery date is set!
ShrinkingPeach replied to NellZ's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a small bit of pain but had great pain meds. I was sleeved as an outpatient and took my pain meds for 3 days to be sure. Once off them I never really had any pain. I just couldn't sleep on my sides only on my back for a short while. I followed instructions for no lifting etc and did fine. Idk if that has anything to do with pain tolerance or not. I really was amazed at how I felt in just a few days. -
Definitely happy I did it. Wouldn't change a thing...well except that bit about doing it sooner!

I Just Want To Cry
ShrinkingPeach replied to LousPeachy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Forgive yourself and get back on the horse. You have had more than your share of stress the last few days. You are still human and we make mistakes. You have done so well and you know you can do this! Good luck and it will all work out. -

What do you mean by "gauged" foods?

Anyone else aggravated?
ShrinkingPeach replied to ShrinkingPeach's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Perfect responses! I know we are all too human as am I. I know we will slip and fall on this journey and no one is perfect. The ones I am referring to are the people basically asking for someone to tell them its okay to cheat, etc. I will be the first to say get back on the horse, you can do it! But I will also be honest. Everyone is amazing here and so supportive. @@Miss Mac, I love that you keep it real! I love your posts! @@CowgirlJane, bully on, at least we are honest while being supportive. @@JamieLogical, I also see your posts all the time and you definitely have a handle on what to do and not do. @@lexiemia, my friend, you are simply amazing and I can't wait to see how far you go with this!! Thanks guys!! -
CIGNA really screwed up this time.....
ShrinkingPeach replied to losinit512's topic in Insurance & Financing
It is heartbreaking to get contradictory information. I agree with @@Genevieve L Thompson that they probably just looked at Cigna as a whole and did not look at your husband's specific plan. If your husband's employer did not include bariatric surgery in their specific employee plan then it unfortunately will not be covered. When your doctors office calls in to the insurance company it is for a pre-authorization. They are assigned a number and all information sent to the insurance company is referenced to that number for record keeping and to keep it all together. The pre-authorization is not a guarantee of coverage, nor is it approval. When all documents are received by the insurance company they review the information received and compare it to your specific policy. I guess at that time they discovered that there was no coverage. I would also be upset and frustrated but I am afraid that this will probably not be covered. I don't blame you for following through and trying but don't be surprised if that is the final answer. Maybe look at other options, perhaps a self pay price? Good luck! -
A little over two years out and thrown right back into my fat days...
ShrinkingPeach replied to LipstickLady's topic in Rants & Raves
How unfair for him to call you out in public like that? I might have said something not so nice back to him. I know I will get caught off guard at some point after my weight loss also. I too am curious what did you say to people along the way when they were rude? Don't let him take away the pride you have in the success you have had. I have seen your pics and you look amazing!! -
Has Our Forum Been Hacked?
ShrinkingPeach replied to Miss Mac's topic in Website Assistance & Suggestions
I duly reported but yeah what a pain! Spammers be gone! We need a block button for people we don't ever want to see in our feed again! -
Getting totally into the routine of eating correctly. Do I miss some foods? Sure. Am I going to eat them? NOOOOOO! lol
-
I am still finding it hard to believe that I actually gave up my diet pepsi and all caffeine. That was the greatest step for me. But I guess as far as food the hard thing to give up for me is bread but I know I can never have it again and will trade that any day for a small pair of pants....lol The big job for me now is to learn how to cook differently. Pintrest is my friend these days.

It is mostly in your head. You wouldn't be able to eat much if you did have sushi or a taco salad. When are you off liquids?

diet 80% and exercise 20% or is it ?

That is stating it beautifully! -
What pureed foods are you eating?
ShrinkingPeach replied to May2015's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did your doctor say that was a list to "start with" or did he say that was what he wanted you to eat? Stick to your plan and you will have better success. -
9 grams of sugar is too much for me but I am glad you found something you can get down. Maybe a sf version?

Approved and pre op diet
ShrinkingPeach replied to strength4fear's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It has been absolutely the best decision for me. I started eating better at my consult in January and had the sleeve done May 15th. I am down 56 pounds with more to go. The sleeve is a permanent procedure but I wanted permanent. My mind is made up and I am committed to this lifestyle forever. If you are ready and it sounds like you are then you will have success. Nerves are normal and we all have been there. The beginning is tough but it gets easier every day! Good luck!! -
I'm stuck in my weight!
ShrinkingPeach replied to la sole's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Make sure you are getting in all your fluids and truly measure and document your food. Sometimes we THINK we are at 600 calories and we are over. Agreed with the exercise for sure. good luck! -
Welcome and good luck to you! The anxiety of waiting is real for sure! Try to choose healthier things and it really will help you transition to post-op choices. Also any weight you lose now is weight you don't have to lose after surgery! Congrats!!

Your Favorite Post-Op Go-to Foods
ShrinkingPeach replied to Garifab_VSG's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The only reason I asked about the ground turkey is because I am not supposed to have beef until week 6...ugh I am not a huge fan of ground turkey either and before surgery I always used extra lean ground beef. Guess I will wait it out and be a good girl. lol -
The 56 pounds I have lost include my pre-op diet as well as weight lost after surgery. I have lost 12 pounds since surgery and am in the dreaded 3 week stall at the moment and have been for a week. Everyone is different and I started my ticker when I committed to this surgery and went for my consult. I started a high Protein low carb diet at that point as I knew that was what I would be eating after surgery. It also made the transition easier for me at pre-op. I definitely do not want to mislead anyone into thinking that I lost all of that after surgery but I am glad I lost some before as that is now weight I don't have to lose post-op. Good luck with your own personal journey!

10-Day Pre-Op Liquid Diet: Day Two Headache
ShrinkingPeach replied to CloserToFine's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It can be all kinds of things. Drastic change in diet, caffeine withdrawal, the type of Protein you are using and what you are mixing it with. Hang in there it will get better!
