You are still healing at this point so I would just let them take a look at them at your post-op.

Nothing you can really do but wait it out. We all read it's real and then it happens. Be patient and hang in there, it will pass.

How many calories are you getting?
ShrinkingPeach replied to Sara51692's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My nutritionist said between 600-800 calories but she really wanted us to focus on the fluids and Protein. If you are getting in your protein you shouldn't have much room for anything else at this point so really it is too early to be worried about calories. -

Insurance questions
ShrinkingPeach replied to amber76bailey's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can call your insurance company and ask for a copy of the coverage for Bariatric Surgery. It will show you what they are looking for and what you need to qualify. Good luck! -
Meeting friends I haven't seen in a while for dinner friday evening. Can't wait for the comments.

Are you getting all your fluids in for the day? Dehydration can cause hunger feelings. Also are you taking any antacids? Too much acid in the stomach can cause you to "feel" hungry. I am 5-1/2 weeks out and I never get hungry. I have to watch the clock and make myself eat.

My Experiences - 12 Days Out
ShrinkingPeach replied to Daisy Girl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For MY week after surgery I was on 3 Protein shakes a day. For my plan week 2 I was on soft foods and I was allowed deli turkey, deli chicken and flaky fish...so I did salmon and deli meats. I still to this day do a Protein shake for Breakfast just because it is quick and easy, I can drink it on the way to work. I make it with extra add-ins to keep the variety up and to make it taste great. What does your plan say for week 2? -
Juts know that their lack of support comes from something within them and it isn't truly about you. Keep up the great work and you will be fabulous! They will be green with envy!

My Experiences - 12 Days Out
ShrinkingPeach replied to Daisy Girl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi @@Daisy Girl! Good going so far. Glad you had a smooth surgery and an easier recovery so far. The sipping thing will not last,, you will be able to drink more in time. I drink normally and can take huge swallows now. Water goes straight thru so it doesn't hurt my sleeve and I am better able to get my fluids in now that my tummy is mostly healed. Keep up the good work!! -

Near constant stomach pain 14 weeks out
ShrinkingPeach replied to goodnuff's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Have not experienced that but it seems to be a question more for your surgeon. Can you get an appointment to see him/her to be checked out? -
Outpatient sleevers?
ShrinkingPeach replied to xxjosettexx's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved as an outpatient on 5-15-15. I did great! Surgery at 7:30am and home by 1:30pm. I took my pain meds on schedule and was off them by day 3...I was driving myself on day 5. I didn't have any issues with gas or nausea and did really great. I kept having to remind myself I had just had major surgery. Everyone's experience is different but I am not one to lie around and dwell, I got up and got moving. Good luck and wishing you a smooth surgery!! -

Sleeve vs gastric bypass
ShrinkingPeach replied to neeciehoohoo's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@@lauraellen80, what a great post! It is truly your decision to make but involve your surgeon. They have done tons of these surgeries and can help you with expectations and what would be best for your overall health. I chose the sleeve for all the above listed reasons but I also had the conversation with my surgeon about my options and what he thought. He agreed the sleeve was the way to go. Good luck and let us know how it goes! -
Congratulations!! What an amazing journey for you so far. It is posts like yours that help others see it really works. Keep up the good work and keep us posted on your victories!

Surgery tomorrow
ShrinkingPeach replied to Debbie623's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well howdy neighbor! I am in Lawrenceville! I think that my pre-op chnages in eating habits definitely helped. I started high Protein low carb in January prior to surgery. I had lost 45 pounds before surgery and I can't imagine that didn't help. I followed my pre-op diet for the two weeks prior to surgery to the letter. The purpose of course being to shrink my liver for surgery and I wanted a safe surgery. I truly believe that it makes a difference in their being able to more easily get to your stomach. I think those that cheat think it is no big deal but I have to wonder how that correlates to the differences in recovery after surgery for those who didn't shrink their liver as much as others. I also had a hernia repair with my sleeve surgery and still did fine! I was a good patient and stayed on my pain meds for the first 3 days. I took them by schedule so I didn't let them wear off before taking more. I stayed on top of any pain that might have been. When I was awake I was moving, walking around the house and getting up. I drank as much as I could get in, I drank as much protein as I could to help promote healing. Now mind you I couldn't get in much but I strived to get more every day. Day 2 I had my emotional meltdown just because I couldn't get a lot of Fluid in and I had a panic moment but after that 30 minutes I never looked back. You will do fine! Good luck!! -
I don't understand how I gain weight now?
ShrinkingPeach replied to akreese02's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
And that is why you have a plan for eating of high Protein and low carb. Most people seem to get off track when they backslide into bad habits or stop measuring their food. The sleeve is a tool and will not make you lose by virtue of the fact you have it. You still have to do the work. -
Where were you at two weeks into recovery?
ShrinkingPeach replied to 4shooters's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was on soft foods, back at work and almost getting my fluids in. I tired easily and was trying to get a handle on pre-planningmeals to make sure I got my Protein in. -
Get back to basics, plan out your meals and Snacks so you are not grabbing snacks and eating all day. Do what you did in the beginning...you can do this!

Hungry after being full?
ShrinkingPeach replied to simplyamy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
High acid can mimic hunger as @@liannatx said. If you are physically full and yet hungry then it is definitely in your head. Measure out your foods and when you eat what you are allowed to have leave the table and go find something to do. You are most likely not hungry. Good luck! -
Empty hungry feeling
ShrinkingPeach replied to TheOnlyDuchess's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As long as you are meeting your Protein goals and staying hydrated your body won't starve. I am 38 days out and I do good to get 500-700 calories in a day and I am not hungry and I don't feel bad. Eat on schedule and don't wait to feel hungry, follow the plan given to you. Good luck!
