Waiting on Appeal Decision for Brachioplasty.....Ugh....
ShrinkingPeach replied to livvsmum's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Isn't insurance a pain in the butt? Sorry to hear you are having such a time with your approval. Hoping that the appeal goes through and you get your surgery. -
EMERGENCY ROOM LAST NIGHT
ShrinkingPeach replied to LousPeachy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Ugh, aren't kidney stones so painful?? Sorry to hear about the ER visit and the postponement of your surgery but know it will happen when it is supposed to. Take care of yourself and hope you feel better very soon! -
No one ever answers my posts......so please comment!
ShrinkingPeach replied to GSJourney23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Agree with all the above advice. Just not worth the calories, fat etc for pizza or beer. It is your journey and ultimately your decision. My best advice is to always follow your surgeon and nutritionist plan for you. -
There are not too many out there with the same quality of Protein at a lower price. I like Quest, Premier Protein, pure protein and think thin bars. They all cost about the same.

Tomorrow is the BIG DAY!
ShrinkingPeach replied to jadama22's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Make sure everything at home is ready for you to come home. Then just ride it out. Jitters are normal and part of the process. Wishing you a smooth surgery and a speedy recovery! -
Should I expect to gain weight?
ShrinkingPeach replied to Psychsnob's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also agree that if you stick to the plan you won't gain. If exercising and adding muscle you may not lose weight but you will lose inches for sure. I would suggest taking measurements so you can compare when the scale isn't moving. Good luck! -
Seventeen days post-op summary.
ShrinkingPeach replied to heavyb's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You seem to be right on track. 2-3 pounds a week is nothing to sneeze at. Keep up the good work and it will come. God luck! -
11 days post op
ShrinkingPeach replied to Lisa61282's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Between the post-op diets and the healing process you really cannot eat much but that does change as you heal. Your diet is limited to mushy and softer foods as you heal but real food is coming. I am at 6 weeks post op and introducing regular foods back in. I can eat about 3/4 cup of food and I get full. I am trying to make better cho0ices than I did pre-surgery and looking at healthier options. You will get there, just hang in there. Good luck! -
Spicy foods tomatoe bases and acids!?
ShrinkingPeach replied to alindsey's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
No issues with spicy here either...Been adding in regular foods for a week now, only issue so far was with cucumbers...will try those again later down the line. Just try a little and wait to see how your tummy reacts. -
I feel your pain, I am also getting impatient. I only lost one pound this week. I went through a 9 day stall. I get it that it will come off as long as I follow my plan. I just want to scream today though...lol I think this just happens for us at times. Even though I have lost 67 pounds overall I feel frustrated today. idk why I just do. Tomorrow will be better and we will look back and smile about when we were so impatient. We've got this!! Hang in there and I will too!

Eating plan help!
ShrinkingPeach replied to alyssaajoan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can google meal plans for after bariatric surgery. Put together your own plan staying high Protein and low carb. It shouldn't be very hard to do. -
pre -op stage and going on a long road trip. What apps do you like?
ShrinkingPeach replied to Michelle Tarver's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also use My Fitness Pal, love that it syncs from phone to laptop and vice versa. -
protein shake suggestions?
ShrinkingPeach replied to xxjosettexx's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I also like Premier Protein and they are so convenient being ready to drink. I also like Jay Robb brand that I get at the Vitamin Shoppe, it is powder only. No matter the brand they will all take you a while to drink but it will get better as you go. Until you can drink a whole shake in a short time, pour them into smaller amounts to drink while you keep the rest refrigerated. -
Should I be on a liquid diet 2 weeks before my surgery?
ShrinkingPeach replied to Karen Crawford Wright's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The whole purpose of the pre-op diet is to shrink the liver to make it safer to retract for surgery. The length of pre-op diet is determined by BMI and how much your liver needs to shrink. That being said, your surgeon has made an educated decision on what he needs for you to do prior to surgery. So yes, follow your specific surgeons orders as he/she knows what will make your surgery the safest. Good luck! -
@@Inner Surfer Girl pretty much summed it up. It varies from person to person but you should do really well by the 6 month mark...Good luck!

What was your level of PAIN?
ShrinkingPeach replied to jadama22's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved May 15th and also had a hiatal hernia repair. I was done as an outpatient and had liquid hydrocodone for pain. I took it faithfully for 2 days as prescribed every 4 hours...then day 3 I went to 6 then 8 hours and day four I took none. My pain really was only ever mild. The only time I really felt tender was when I got up or sat down. Overall I was really surprised at how pain free I was. -
Starting Preop Liquid Diet Today
ShrinkingPeach replied to laceygorrell's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
No sense in starting off cheating as recommended by@@SaintTeresa. A lack of willpower has gotten us to where we are now. I applaud you for following your doctor's orders. The ability to do the right thing now means you are more likely to succeed later. Everyone says look what I did and nothing happened with all kinds of things in life but there are reasons why we have these rules. Someone has ignored them and paid a price, don't let it be you. I am continually amazed by people on here who say, "sure go ahead and eat it". Way to be supportive. Way to help when someone is trying to stick to their plan. There always has to be one bad apple. -
Sleeved June 24th & I have questions
ShrinkingPeach replied to KeepOnRockinMe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was on the pain meds for 3 days after surgery. I did every 4 hours at first as prescribed then I started stretching them out until I was at 8 hours, then quit. I am on a whole regimen of Vitamins per my surgeon and he also said not to start taking them until a week post-op. -

Other health issues....
ShrinkingPeach replied to djay210's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So sorry for your flare up, I have no experience in that area. As for the straw, my nutritionist said 2-3 months but I am better able to get my liquids in with one so I started at 5 weeks out. It didn't cause me any problems. Good luck and I hope you get through your flare up soon! -
Advice needed! Clear Liquid diet.
ShrinkingPeach replied to brookealison2001's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Whatever you are mixing with your Protein shake, Water or milk product, you can use more to thin it out. The issue I had was the thickness of it with the tightness of my sleeve after surgery. I would try again when you can. The most important thing initially is to stay as hydrated as possible and the protein will come as you heal. It is very difficult for most, as it was for me, for me to get those Fluid levels they want you to attain initially. Good luck and just try a small amount to start! -
I finally decided
ShrinkingPeach replied to futurefocus's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
How very brave of you to share your story. Thank you for your post. Congrats on your progress and wishing you continued success. Isn't it amazing to see the changes from week to week? Keep posting and letting us know how you do. Thanks again for sharing! -
June 30th is around the corner!
ShrinkingPeach replied to sleevenv's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck to you both and wishing you much success! Your lives are about to change forever! Enjoy the ride and wishing you both smooth surgeries. Keep us posted on your progress! -
Agreed with @sleevenv. The plan is to eat healthy and exercise so in a way you will be doing the things they say but with an added tool of the surgery. If you don't wish to tell them then don't. You should only share with those that will support you not tear you down. When they ask what you are doing then you can say that you are eating healthier and exercising. It is none of their business unless you want it to be. Good luck!!

Powdered Protein
ShrinkingPeach replied to tnf0920's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't mix with Water as all fluids count toward your daily goal. I do use unsweetened almond milk with my Protein shakes. How far post-op are you? If you must use water I have the Syntrax nectar are tolerable.
