    When does the tiredness end?

I was pretty tired for about 3-4 weeks after but every day got better. Make sure to stay hydrated and get your Protein in. This is MAJOR surgery and we often forget that as we are able to be up and about so soon. I see some post they are tired more than others so I also think it is also up to how fast you heal. Good luck!

    4 days post op

It varies from person to person but for me I could drink pretty well at 2.5 weeks. It got better and better as I went. Now I drink like I did before surgery. Good luck!

    When did you get hungry?

8 weeks post-op and don't feel hungry like I used to. I started feeling like maybe I should eat something at 3 weeks out but really don't get hungry the same way. Usually when I do feel it I am really just thirsty and Water takes care of it. Good luck!
  5. Adding food back in, feeling like I am eating too much but my nutritionist says not eating enough...what a conundrum. First time in my life I am being told to eat more.

Years ago when first diagnosed diabetic, and working on losing weight, a Certified Diabetic Educator (CDE) told me the same thing....not getting enough calories....who would have ever thought that! Your NUT knows..... :) smile

    8th Day Post Op

You re definitely right. I had problems with anything thicker than Water initially. As the swelling goes down it will get easier so keep trying. The initial stages are the most challenging then it gets much easier from there. Good luck!

    6 month wait...

If you switch to a higher Protein and lower carb eating plan I promise you won't get as hungry and it is what you will be eating after surgery. I used My fitness pal and logged what I ate and I literally could not eat as much as I was allowed. every pound you lose now puts you closer to your goal for after surgery! You can do this!!

What is one thing you use the most post-op

My blender for my Protein shakes, crushes ice like a champ. Me to measure my food. My Water bottles with straws so I get my fluids in every day. My Bento boxes to pack my small portion lunches and Snacks in.

    Decided to stop weighing!

I feel your pain! lol I weigh 2-3 times a week just because I get a sudden urge just to check but I go with what I get every sunday. It really does fluctuate too much from day to day! Good luck!

    Discussions with PCP about WLS

The sleeve is a tool along with exercise and a change of eating habits. So basically a forever diet with a smaller stomach. It is definitely a life long commitment and not a short term diet. Can you lose weight? Absolutely! Can you gain it all back? Absolutely! Yes you may become nauseous if you eat too much. Just don't eat more than you are allowed. You will have to take Vitamins the rest of your life...you have to be okay with that. You have to commit to drinking 64 ounces Water a day minimum. It is a tool along with a commitment from you to make a change in your life. You can always go for a consult and learn for yourself. Do your research and learn what the process is. There are tons of success stories and yes there are tons of people who fell off the plan. You can choose to be a success story, the choice is yours to make. Good luck no matter what you do!

    Just had surgery yesterday

You DID just have major surgery, were you really expecting to be out of pain already? Hang in there and it will get better every day. Take your pain meds as instructed for at least a few days and then you can wean off. Sounds like you are exactly on schedule. Good luck!
  12. Sounds like you are doing fine. It is so hard to wait I know. Start watching your eating habits and begin eating higher Protein and lower carb. You may lose some weight prior to surgery and that isn't such a bad thing. If you get in the gym now you will recover faster and gat back to it sooner. Any weight you lose now is a step closer to your goal! Go for it!
  13. You can have fluctuations like that from day to day. It is the overall trend you should track. Hang in there!

    Initial surgeon appointment

It can be a lengthy checklist but consider they are being thorough. Your day will be here before you know it and this gives you a chance to lose and get closer to your goal. Good luck!

    Quest bars

Love Quest bars, use them often for Snacks. Favorites are Double chocolate Chunk, Cookies and Cream, vanilla Almond and Smores. The Syntrax nectar did not agree with my sleeve so I can't help there.
  16. From Lawrenceville but didn't use Dr. Williams. I know someone who did and she really liked him and did really well. I am using Dr. Johnson.

July 21 sleeve date and scared

Agreed, most everyone here felt scared at one point or another, me included. I still wonder if the weight loss will stop and I will be a failure. All I can do is have faith in my plan and read the success stories here for inspiration. Good luck!!

    Hair loss

Biotin won't make your hair stop thinning, it may speed up the regrowth. You can only absorb so much at a time so overdoing it doesn't help. Make sure you are getting in your Protein, lack of protein contributes to the hair thinning.

    Back and forth

Ultimately the decision is yours to make but my only regret is that I didn't do this sooner. You are right it is ONLY a tool but for me it is a necessary tool. I have lost and plateaued over and over getting nowhere. For me this may be my only chance of succeeding and I for one have taken it. Good luck with whatever you decide...it will be what is right for you.

    No Pre-Op Diet?

The purpose of the pre-op diet is to shrink the liver for surgery. Everyone doesn't have to do the diet. Just follow the surgeon's instructions and all will be good.

Water. Does water in shake count towards water?

Yes shakes count toward your total fluid intake...
