    Carb Confusion?!

Some people track net carbs and some track straight carbs. There is no right or wrong way to do it. At my live support group the nutritionist said that there is no official way either. Use whatever works for you and if you are not sure try to stick to straight carbs. The theory that increased Fiber means it lowers your net carb intake is a slippery slope in my opinion. I try to watch any carbs I eat and stick to my plan of Protein first, veggies second and then carbs if there is any room. My personal nutritionist did not give me a carb goal but instead gave me a total calorie goal and a protein goal. Hope this helps! Good luck!

    Weight Gain

The advice I always see here is to get back to basics. Start logging your food and make sure you are adhering to healthy choices. Get your fluids in also. You can do this! Good luck!! We are here for support!

    Recovery time

By day 3 I was off pain meds and on day 5 I was driving. Incisions were tender but manageable. The recovery as far as pain was surprisingly easy. The tiredness took a few weeks to get over.

Eating when no one is around

Make an appointment with your surgeon to make sure there is no problem and then seriously consider seeing a therapist. The desire to eat when no one is around could be a sign of an eating disorder since that is hiding your eating. You have nothing to lose by talking to someone to find the underlying cause of how you feel. Then agree with @@Elode get back to basics of how this works. Good luck! Proud of you for reaching out!

    Anyone use Dr.Hart in Ga

I used Dr.Johnson in the same office. The support group I attend monthly has about half and half. He seems really nice and their office is booming. His patients like him a lot from what I hear at support group. I only spoke to him once and he was very nice and helpful. Are you looking at him for your surgeon?

    No one is noticing:-(

Also just a thought but you said they haven't seen you in a bit. They may be afraid of asking and being wrong about you losing weight. The compliments will come...and soon I am sure!

    Vomitting after surgery

I didn't have this happen but have you shared this with your surgeon? I was given oral liquid hydrocodone for pain. There are alternatives. Good luck!!
  12. I had a one egg "omelet". One egg with a pinch of 2% cheese and a tbsp. of chopped deli turkey. Could only eat half but it was amazing!

WTH? All these different post op diets after sleeve! Ughhh

Loved your post! I am also amazed at the differences in eating plans from everyone here. That being said I am having success with the one I was given from my nutritionist so I just stick to that. Ultimately I know the sleeve is a tool and it has to be paired with exercise and a healthy eating plan. No matter the arrangement, all the plans incorporate that and end at a sensible meal plan for the remainder of time. It is just a difference in opinions of nutritionists and we all know the one about opinions right? lol Hang in there and know this will work for you as it has for others in your surgeons office or else the plan would have gotten changed. Every pound lost is a win! Good luck!!

    Right of Passage

Well said, I didn't think of that before surgery but it has become glaringly apparent after surgery. I am learning so many thing I was blind to before in my food induced haze. I am glad to finally be on this journey and getting healthier every day. Good luck to you all in your own personal journeys!

    Tired of being fat

May I suggest taking your measurements also. You will hit a stall and feel like you are not losing. When you measure you will see that even when the scale isn't moving the inches are still going.

    Normal foods

I was allowed to add back in regular foods slowly starting at 6 weeks post-op. I have made a conscious decision not to eat the bad things that got me to my surgery day. I won't be eating rice, bread, Cookies etc. For me now fruit is a treat, or a Protein bar, a Protein shake or something low calorie. The sleeve is only a tool and if I don't treat her with respect and just fill her with junk she will fail. I now have grilled or bakes chicken, salmon or a bunless burger. I eat better veggies like zucchini or squash or green Beans, not potatoes or fries or rice. I would think eating those old habits would just cause one to slide back into old habits. Find alternatives so you can enjoy the taste without having the bad parts. Good luck!
  20. Know that her comments are more about her than about you. Somewhere deep inside her she is very insecure. You have made a great decision and you will be successful. Now don't be surprised if, once you are at your goal weight, she finds something else to complain about. Do this for you and not anyone else! Good luck and great going!!
  21. @@yasky33, welcome! @@proudgrammy is spot on! You will get lots of advice if you ask but definitely listen to your surgeon and nutritionist. Your plan will be similar to some and totally different from others. Do your own plan as it is given to you. Do that and you will be successful! You will consistently lose weight and you will feel sooo much better! Good luck to you and speak up often!

    Any ATL folks here

The journey is going great so far. Lost 38 pounds since surgery May 15th and 70 total so far. I have lost 43.5 inches. I have done so well I asked my surgeon did he really do the surgery at my first post-op. I have tolerated all foods and have really had no issues. He laughed at me. lol I said if not for the fact that I can only eat a small portion I would think he faked me out. How is everyone else doing?

    4 days post op

I never had any real pain to speak of at my incision sites but it took about 3-4 weeks for them to heal pretty well. I only elt tender when I stood up or lowered to sit down. It will get better every day. Hang in there!
