Bahahaha...sorry! Well you know there are those know-it-alls that just want to tell you what to do...how's that? lmao

I took 11 days. I could have gone back at 7 but was glad I had the time off. My job is more sedentary so I knew going into it that I would be fine. Also I had healed very well from prior surgeries. Everyone is different but the average I see is a week, only you know your body and how well you do. Good luck!

The light has finally come on!
ShrinkingPeach replied to Profkf's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Congrats on your epiphany. I too had to realize that food was something I need to survive not something that I needed to put my life around. A quote I put on my mirror so I see it every morning is "Focus on what you want most, not what you want right now". I am working every day on a NEW relationship with food. Those thoughts still creep into my head but I have gotten much better at seeing them for what they are. Sounds like you are on your way to success! Go you!! -
Congrats on your choices and your great attitude! You have already made the toughest decision and tomorrow you will be on your way. No, it isn't always easy but once you see those pounds coming off you will want more. Success it the greatest reward! Good luck and keep posting your progress!!

Definitely talk to your nutritionist. The pre-op diet is to shrink your liver making it safer to retract it during surgery so they can get to the stomach. There are different plans based on how much they need your liver to shrink. Make sure you are getting your Fluid intake high as that helps, but also ask what can you have? Good luck!

A little over 8 weeks post-op here and I still have passing thoughts in my head of food. Foods I can' t have, foods I used to eat and I know it is just in my head. I have tried to identify when this happens and it tends to happen in situations when I would have mindlessly eaten before. I try to get my mind busy doing something else and I find the thoughts go away. The surgery helps our stomachs but not our heads, we have to work through those issues. Good luck!!

Just as any aspect of life, some people are educated about things and some are not. Yes, everyone's journey is their own but a lot of things are common among us. Most people just want to help as they have been helped, pay it forward. I do not comment on things that I know nothing about. I will always try to help when someone posts a question because I assume they really want help, after all it is a support group. I researched every day for 6 months before my surgery and I am very well informed on the plan and what works for most. You an tell the difference when someone is asking for true help and when t hey are asking for permission to cheat or do their own thing. Agreed for sure that the first stop for advice should ALWAYS be your nutritionist or surgeon. I often email my nutritionist if I have a specific question about my plan or Vitamins. People just have a desire to help sometimes. It is not always about telling you what to do, they just want to contribute. It is always okay to tell them you have a plan in place already and thank them for their interest in helping. You know sometimes they just might have something valuable to offer.

Surgery Preparation
ShrinkingPeach replied to justme29's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The main thing is to stick with Protein isolate since it has a higher percent of protein. Try different ones until you find the one that works for you, we all have different tastes. Ask for help at the store making choices with allergies. Good luck!! -
Drinking more liquids than I was told I could on day 5 post op
ShrinkingPeach replied to Karen Crawford Wright's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is fine...if you are able to get your daily intake accomplished then begin to work on your protein amounts -

What made u decide to do the surgery
ShrinkingPeach replied to bring's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
2 years into my second marriage and I want to be around for a very long time with this man. I have goals to achieve and I want better health for myself as well. Aches and pains are debilitating so I want those gone. On a happy note, I am almost off all meds. My back doesn't hurt anymore and my knees are soooo much better! I have so much energy and I can't imagine how much better I am going to feel when I get to my goal since I am only halfway. Best thing I have ever done! Good luck!! -
Why am i still hungry ?
ShrinkingPeach replied to Gina Fernandez's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Could be head hunger or even dehydration. Have a sf popsicle so you can chew or drink up on some Water? -
Must haves Post Op
ShrinkingPeach replied to TxCoon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@The Candidate has a great point. Take measurements and photos. You will want to recheck those measurements to see your progress. When you his a stall, and you will, measurements will show you that you are still losing when the scale isn't moving. I walked and moved around as much as I could and when I rested I watched movies. Get your supplies together so you don't have to have anyone make runs to the store. Get sf popsicles for the freezer so if you have problems drinking you can do those. Vitamin Water Zero, G@ Gatorade, Powerade Zero for different flavors. Mio drops for your water. Anything you need from your nutritionists plan for after surgery. Good luck!! -
Kinda losing my mind thanks to insurance....
ShrinkingPeach replied to AmandaRo522's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeons office had a big snafu with how they submitted my paperwork. Their insurance coordinator went on maternity leave and they dropped the ball in a major way. It all worked out in the end and I got my surgery. Hang in there and stay on top of things as much as you can. It WILL happen and you will look back on this from the other side. Good luck!! -
Driving after surgery
ShrinkingPeach replied to Jim in Utah's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told I could drive as soon as I was off the narcotic pain meds. I stopped taking them day 3 and drove day 5. I drove every day since. -
Vitamins and Post-Op Diet
ShrinkingPeach replied to PreOpSleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
On a scale of 1-10, I would rate this a 4. The change of eating habits is not too bad and the 14 day pre-op diet I did of liquids was not bad either. The head hunger is real and something I will probably have to deal with every day but doable. I will gladly take Vitamins instead of medicines any day. I take 2 Multivitamins a day, 2 calcium citrate chews a day and 1 sublingual B-12 twice a week. -
11 months out and no weight loss for half of it
ShrinkingPeach replied to kgunchic's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Agree with @@OutsideMatchInside and @BLERDgirl. If you are feeling hunger at this point and it isn't just head hunger you will have to dig deep to find the willpower. Get back to basics and make sure you are taking in enough fluids. Dehydration is possibly causing your hunger and the Snacks you are turning to are all salty which would dehydrate you. No more bad choices in those snacks. Get healthy snacks such as cheese sticks, etc. The great thing is you have had success so you know you can do this. You haven't caused permanent damage so you CAN turn this around! Look back at your meal plan and see where you can get back to what worked for you. Therapy might not be a bad idea since you turned back to food for solace. Absolutely talk to your NUT about what has happened. That is his/her role in your success is to help you. Don't wait until your one year to do it, make that appointment now to speak with them. You can definitely do this!! We all will make mistakes and good for you for coming here to ask for help! Good luck!! -
For the first week it was a struggle for me to get to the 48 ounces my NUT asked for. I drank as much as I could and sipped all day. Every day got better and by the end of the first week I was there and then she asked for 64...lol You will get there, just always have something to drink by your side, especially if you go somewhere. Good luck!
-
Hang in there! I hear it doesn't last forever and it will grow back. Make sure you are getting in enough Protein as sometimes that makes it worse. Good luck! I am dreading when I get there...lol

Hate chewable multivitamins!
ShrinkingPeach replied to sleeve4086222015's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My nutritionist says you can switch to Centrum MVI. I like the Bariatric Advantage ones, that being said why can't you just swallow that one instead of chewing? -
How to prepare for surgery day?
ShrinkingPeach replied to avRose's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Get the things you will need for the first couple weeks ready. Have on hand what you are allowed to consume per your plan. I only took my ID, insurance card, cell phone and a pillow for the ride home. I wore home what I wore to the hospital. Clean up around home and get any laundry done immediately prior to your surgery. Hard to relax when you are staring at things that need to be done. Good luck! -
What do I wear POST OP(Wks 1-6)
ShrinkingPeach replied to theatrejo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was a little tender around my incisions for a bit. If your pants are tight in the waistband then yes you may want something looser until you heal. Good luck! -
Welcome and good luck!
