Preventing Hair Loss?
ShrinkingPeach replied to gpmed's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Biotin will not stop hair loss but it CAN help what you lose grow back faster. One thing you can do to help is to make sure you get your Protein in every day. Lack of protein will lead to more shedding of your hair. Sorry there is no prevention for the shedding altogether but it is only temporary. -
Pre op diet ultimate failure to come......HELP
ShrinkingPeach replied to mizzlane13's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Agree with @@Elode, will your hubby help you get through this process? One of the women in my live support group made a portion for herself and froze it for later so she didn't feel so left out. Maybe that will help with the things running through your head? -
When would the weight loss stop? don't want to lose anymore
ShrinkingPeach replied to skippy88's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are still losing because at 2 months out you cannot consume enough calories. I would do as @@VSGAnn2014 mentioned so that you keep healthy eating habits. I would also exercise to add muscle...speak to a personal trainer and ask for a workout plan to add muscle not for weight loss. Things should even out soon. -
One Month Until Surgery
ShrinkingPeach replied to MissRobin's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The feelings are perfectly normal. I keep waiting for the loss to stop. I probably won't believe it until I am at goal. Sounds like you are ready that it is just the waiting to get going...you will do great! Hang in there and soon you will be on the other side and losing those pounds! Don't worry if others notice so much as you will see it and you will feel so much better! -
You can do this, you know it because you did it before. Get back to logging what you eat, weighing what you eat...whatever worked for you the first time. At least you caught yourself before you gained it all back! Good luck!!
-
Way to go! Happy to hear you are making great progress! I also think I have finally found the thing that will work for me. Keep us updated on your progress!! Before you know it you will be at goal!!

Unfortunately you have to be your own advocate. You need to know your insurance beforehand and follow their requirements to the letter. If your policy states you have to have the weigh-ins and do face to face then you will probably have to start over. Sorry to hear you have been spinning your wheels so to speak. You can call your insurance and ask for a copy of the coverage for WLS and then you will know what is required if your surgery center doesn't. Good luck!!

I tried steak at 6 weeks...small bites and chewed well. I have tolerated everything really well so far. Love my surgeon and my sleeve!

A secret isn't a secret as soon as you tell ONE person. It was very rude of her to share something that wasn't hers to tell but now it is out there so make the best of it. Use it as an opportunity to educate anyone who asks about how it is only a tool in a larger process. Good luck!!

My surgery is on Friday!
ShrinkingPeach replied to AlphaB's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your energy level will definitely be lower at first but you should recover pretty rapidly since you are already more active. The Protein goals will feed that muscle and you shouldn't lose much. Get up and moving about asap and you will do great!! Good luck! -
Question on Sugar free popsicle and cream of mushroom/chicken for pre-op
ShrinkingPeach replied to wagyu's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That depends on your pre-op diet directions. Are you on Clear liquids or some full liquids? If clear only then no cream Soups or creamsicles...if full liquids are okay then yes. -
Tomorrows the day!
ShrinkingPeach replied to KF2007's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I only took my cell phone, a pillow for the ride home and biotene mouth spray. I only used my pillow and my cell. I played games while waiting for surgery and never touched it again. I wore home what I wore to the hospital. Good luck!! -
Interested in the Sleeve, Dr. recommended Bypass
ShrinkingPeach replied to Rdepps's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The enzyme grehlin is also removed with the sleeve. I had diabetes, HBP and high cholesterol. My surgeon listened to my opinions on why I wanted the sleeve and agreed that it was the best option for me. I came off my blood sugar meds the day of surgery and my other meds have been cut in half so far. As I understand it the weight loss is a bit slower with the sleeve compared to the bypass but we all end up at goal if we stick to the plan. Do what is right for you, this is a major surgery and you should be happy with it because it is your life and you will have to live with it forever. Good luck in whatever you decide! -
100 degrees in the shade...so where are you doing that important post op walking?
ShrinkingPeach replied to nomorechubbybutt63's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Check out dvd's by Leslie Sansone...they go all the way up to 7 miles I think. I am also in Georgia and those are what I do. -
Your surgeon or nutritionist should tell you what to take. If they haven't then ask them what to get.

Happy to hear you are doing well! Keep posting your journey to keep us posted and to help others. It will keep you focused as well. Congrats on your choice to get healthy and looking forward to hearing your story!

Surgery Wednesday still in pain?
ShrinkingPeach replied to dlmacarthur's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It is normal, you did just have major surgery after all. I had pain until day 3 and the more I got up and moved around as I was supposed to do the more I was tired and realized just how much I needed to recover. You will do fine, just work through it. Good luck!! -
New here - exploring surgery options
ShrinkingPeach replied to luvhermitcrabs's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I began this journey in January of 2015 and had my consult then. I had surgery 5/15/15 and got the sleeve. I have lost 79 pounds so far, 30 prior to surgery and 49 after. I highly recommend you do your research and decide which procedure is right for you. The process is different with each but we all end up at the same place if you stick to your individual plan. Recovery times vary by procedure and the individual so find those answers as well. Choose the surgeon that is right for you. Find someone who will be with you through the entire process. Have a great nutritionist so you can communicate often and get answers to questions you will have. Research the eating habits for after surgery. This will be a major change. There will be things you should not do and would be best if you commit to doing them. The food choices you make will be up to you, so removing temptations from your house will be great. Work through and plan for issues such as holidays, parties and social outings with friends. Plan ahead so you don't panic and make bad choices. If you can switch to the proper eating habits prior to surgery it will be less of a shock to you and you can lose some toward your goal before surgery getting you that much closer! Good luck and welcome! This can change your life!! -
Sending prayers for both you and your husband. I wouldn't call them out for their poor behavior because that will only lower you to their level. Sadly they will still parade around as Christians and come out smelling like roses. I am so very sorry that they insulted your husband in this particularly bad time. They will be judged by a higher power. I hope and pray that the people you have leading the prayer now will do an amazing job and God will touch them and lead the way. Your husband will be better in their capable hands. Focus on what is important and you will be okay. All your attention should be on those who come to the party with genuine love and respect for your family, forget the rest as they are beneath you.

I had glue with steri-strips and bandages. I was told the bandages could come off after 24 hours. I could shower then and the steri-strips came off on their own over time.
