I am going to TJ on the 8th to be sleeved by Doctor Zavalza. I am going alone but I am comfortable with it! I have done so much traveling alone and I have seen and heard from his previous clients so I have faith in the people who will take care of me while I am there! Nobody that I have told wants me to go to Mexico alone. Nobody that I have told has to live with the extra 130 lbs of weig by and the consequences it brings either. So I am doing this for me and I will be my own support if I have to. I have online friends who have used this doctor and that is all the support I need for now. I fully expect my family to still love me when I get home and to slowly become more accepting of my decision once they see how much life I gain from it. That being said, you must be all in and comfortable with your decision. This life changing surgery will have emotional ups and downs so you really should be confident in it going in. Also, I'll be your friend

The 8th is my day. Coming up quick! I was pretty hungry today but finally had some weight loss on the scale so doing my best to stick with this! 10 days til surgery. I'm self pay and going to Mexico. Anyone else going there for their July surgery?

I am in the Midwestern united states. I'm already on my preop and doing alright. Going to try to slowly focus more on liquids. I like protein shakes which I am greatful for. Just counting days now!

I am self pay too so I understand the worry you have about extra costs. I'm on my 2 week diet too and it is very similar. Who are you having your surgery with/where at?

This is a bit of an introduction since I have stopped lurking and officially got an account. I have been considering VSG for a little over a month and am set on it. I am a preschool teacher and am hoping to have the surgery this summer. I have Molina (medicaid) insurance and feel like it would be very hard to get it covered and just plain don't want to wait a whole year to have the surgery if I can even get covered. For this reason I am very seriously considering Mexico. I would need to get "financing" for the surgery. I am wondering about people's expriences with Mexico, loans, wait time, etc. Sorry for being so long winded and vague. Just looking for some anecdotal information from people who have gone through this sort of process or are currently in my position!

@@tnkrrbl I am feeling exactly the same way. I'm close to making a commitment which is making me nervous and more excited. It is a roller coaster ride of emotions. Who and where? 5 days to go, I'm sure you're feeling the excitement / worries!

I'm in Illinois too! Hoping to be sleeved in Mexico since I don't believe my insurance will cover it. Waiting on my PCP and local tests to come back but hoping for June 16th as my date.

I'm with you there! I've been on phentermine multiple times. It scared the daylights out of me the last time in particular. I was having heart palpitations randomly throughout. One night I thought I WAS having a heart attack. I woke my bf up I was so terrified. Never again no matter how desperate I get would I take it. I too worry there is permenant damage. This is one of the things I'll be asking about at my next PCP appointment.

Hey everyone, I am anxiously awaiting my appointment with my PCP. I am hoping to get sleeved in Mexico in June with Dr. Zavalza. I am going to meet with my PCP on May 11th to talk to her about it. I want to be sure she will be on board for follow up care. I have had her all of my adult life and she is amazing! I'm just wondering what everyone's experiences were telling their PCP about Mexico (good or bad) TIA

I'm hoping for June 17th with Dr. Zavalza! I have to get checked by my doctor first but about 79% sure I'll be sleeved this June! So excited!

I have told my boyfriend and he is leary of both the surgery and Mexico but is trying to be supportive. He too is sworn to secrecy. I have told my aunt and my coworkers. All are worried about me going to Mexico but I do not really have fears after doing so much research. I was going to join that group but I know if I do other people will be able to see that I am a member of it, which is why I havent. Waiting to talk to my sister tonight. Nervous and excited. She vacations in Cancun once a year so I think she will be the most level headed and supportive. My mom is a worrier and my best friend. I am so scared to tell her!

I haven't committed yet but it is looking like June with Dr. Zavalza in Mexico for me too! I'm so excited as well. Telling my sister today and very nervous. I know people cringe when I say Mexico but hoping she will be open minded.

I'm considering Dr. Arellano. Anyone here had him? I'm torn between this and another option. My main worry is that it is a clinic and the hospital they work with is 5 minutes away. I know complications are rare but this is what is holding me back. Arellano seems to have good credentials but I'm wondering who has had him and what their experience was. am now looking at early June for surgery. Probably with no companion
