Hi, I was banded by Dr Flanagan on 10/12/07. I started out at 116kgs and lost 7 on the liquid diet prior to surgery. I have lost 3kgs since the operation. I go for the first week check up and to hopefully get the staples out on Tuesday the 18th.:clap2: I can't wait for the staples to come out because they hurt when I cough. I have yo yo dieted my whole life so this is quite exciting to think I am finally off that merry go round. I am not hungry but I am kind of grieving for the loss of steak chips and salad. I have got gass though which is gross. :rolleyes My doctor will be away over January so I guess I won't have my first fill until the beginning of Feb. Has anyone else had to wait 7 to 8 weeks for their first fill? I am worried that it will slow my weight loss right down. It is great to be able to make contact with other people going through the same thing as I am. Cheers, TMG

Thanks Lynne,

Just think of all the great shopping for new clothes you will be able to do. I have already lost 10kgs (3 post op) and I only had the suregery 5 days ago. I am noticing a difference in clothes already and it is great that food is not able to have the same control over me. It is the best decision I have made (weight wise), I just wish I had done it earlier. The surgery is not scary at all, it is just the thought of it. I am really excitied for you because I know the decision to do it is the hardest part of all.

Cheers,

TMG

Fanny, I am an emotional eater and really enjoy food, so I too was worried about what I would be giving up. Now that I have had the op, although I still day dream about huge steak dinners, it is really empowering to have taken away the control food had over me. I have already lost 10 kgs (3 post op) and I only had the surgery 5 days ago. I am noticing a difference in clothes and can see light at the end of a very dark weight tunnel. My surgery was moved forward and I freaked a little but it was better to have it sooner. Good luck you won't regret your decision. Cheers, TMG -
Hi Josh, I hated Optifast so I used Tony Fergerson shakes, which are much nicer and lost 7 kilos in three weeks. My surgery date was brought forward so I didn't get the four weeks to liquid diet that they recommend. There are a lot more flavours and you still lose loads of weight and they taste great! I am still using them now in my first week post op. Cheers, TMG

Hi, I had my band put in on the 10th of December. I haven't been sick but I do find myself day dreaming about steak dinners. I am still a bit sore and get tired during the day. I am waking up at 4.30 though. Dr Flanagan did my surgery. He is really nice. I go for my first post op check up this Tuesday. It is really great to be able to talk to other people that are going through the same thing.
