I'm starting to be much more focused on my fitness pal, so having buddies would be great. My user id on mfp is craigcuer.

must be dr. Specific. I never even had dressing on my main 5 ports. I think they painted them with a liquid skin. I've not had so much as a band aid and the sites look great. My drain port has required a dressing which I changed a couple days ago, all good on that site as well. But wounds usually close quickly for me, so mileage may vary by individual. I bet they are just fine..

I think I need to start watching electrolytes. I'm very concerned about dehydration, etc. I may look into keeping some gator aid around and using that for some additional liquid to head those issues off. Thanks for sharing and glad your on the mend. First post op appointment tomorrow and feeling pretty good. Hoping to get my drain out and get cleared for light gym workouts. I can literally see where my body has eaten the muscle out of my arms, shoulders and legs over the last week and need to get that muscle loss to stop.. Also, I'm hoping to move to squish /purée as well. I'll post my weight loss after getting on the accurate scales at the dr. Office.

Awesome!!!! I'm down 10! Can believe how fast is falling off. Anyone else have times where you feel like you need a few more calories? I've had a couple episodes of what I think is low blood sugar. I'm not diabetic but I had gestational diabetes so I know the feeling well. Any thoughts? yes, I find that focusing on protein only sometime does not get me energy in the near term and occasionally gets me light headed. I adding a few more carbs in when one of those low points hit me and I find it passes quickly. My wife made a package of instant mashed potatoes 3 days ago, which I will get a tablespoon of and then add some chicken broth too. Heat and mix to a consistency you like (can be soup, can be creamy). Lunch or anytime I'm feeling weak. Has taken 3 days to eat half a package, so don't think I am over doing it. Just my .02

May Sleevers...where are you?
craigcu replied to bvenegas's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i've had plenty, but am proud to say I am now brown and normal. Vs black, tarry, explosive, etc. see previous posts of mine. After this long, I suggest talking with your care team and/or introduce a small amount of miralax into morning drinks. It will help get things moving.. Luck.. -
i licked a saltine cracker today... I am not ashamed nor embarrassed.. My 6 year old laughed...

I never had a drain so can't help on this one sorry. I have 4 ports and I'm meant to take the dressings off tomorrow for good. For some reason that makes me nervous as if I drink something, water will come pouring out of them all???? I really have too much time on my hands to think too much at the moment...how are you doing Rosie? I'm fairly certain that if you take your dressings off and then drink a bottle of water in your garden you might pass as a sprinkler then if that true!!????

lily, how are you doing?

Had my drain removed today
craigcu replied to MissMotivated's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm five days post op, drain still in. I'm getting 10-20 cc every 6 hours, which doesn't seem like much, but who knows? I like the idea of self removal, I changed dressings on the site today and saw where the stitches would need to be cut.. Is my drain volume normal? -
Good topic, I day 5 from vsg and have a drain, annoying but I didn't get a lot of info on how long I would have it, etc. don't mind getting rid of potentially dangerous liquids, however it's counter productive to keeping the hydration up I would think. I'm getting 10 to 20 cc about every 6 hours now, don't know what's normal..

New question: anyone still got their drains in place? If so, when are the coming out? Mines still there, had to change the bandage because it got wet, everything looks fine, but are supposed to continue to see drainage all the time or what? I'be got my follow up on Tuesday, I'm hoping it comes out then..

. Great idea Rosie, I think right now my stomach name will be GuRP (gurgling unpleasant reactionary pot). It's name will improve when it treats me better..???? How is everyone doing 5 days post op?
-
how are you doing post-op would love to have a buddyI'm now 5 days post op, got most of my liquids in today but noticing more gas at night. I'm still sleeping in a recliner, but having not a lot of trouble getting around, so will try and switch to the bed tomorrow. Had an emotional outburst to my kids this evening (6 and 9) when they came running into our room for movie night with sunflower seeds and bags of popcorn, I said something about stepping on the feed bags and had to put myself in timeout in the other room. Then had to apologize to them for lashing out. Felt terrible. Keep on eye on those emotions y'all, I'm the normally calm and logical one in the family. I'm going to time out about for the next couple months...

hi Rosie, they finally decided it had happened at surgery and was one of those rare cases where some blood stayed inside the stomach. Which when intestines were finally working, came out. So, when the drain was pulling normal fluids out and ct scan did not show additional bleeding, took a wait and see approach. Hemocrit is your most important number to watch for improvement in this case.. And I was verifying everything I was being told real time with my cousins (a surgeon and an internal med doc). I would ask for photos of my lab reports and text them to my team to keep me sane..

Hi all, had surgery 1 pm on 19, spent night in the hospital and then went hom next day. Unfortunately I got the lucky roll of dice for post surgical bleeding and got read matted to hospital the following Thursday to do ct scan, see where the bleeding was coming from ( inconclusive).stayed the night for more observation and then headed home finally noon today. Moral of this story.. shit happens.. If it's black, tell your doc immediately.. Sorry to be so graphics, but you need to be prepared.

Heading for hospital now. See you all on the other side...

Yeah, looks like I'm late day on the 19th, arrive at hospital at 12:00 pm. Surgery around 2 I would guess. A little surreal I think. As far as being on the losers bench, I just want to be able to sit on any bench and not have to check its support and balance to ensure it doesn't collapse under me or launch my 6 yeah old into the air when I sit down.. My list of things to get rid off post vsg: 1: xxxxx clothing. I never want to buy any thing with more than one X on it. 2: seat belt extenders on airplanes. 3: Cpap machine. Any others?
