    My first posting

I wanted to thank all the members that responded to my first posting. You made me feel welcome, and so positive! I am only speaking for myself when I say I know I'm like an alcoholic when it comes to food. I will always need the band and support just as many alcoholics need AA. For today, I have replaced overeating with excercise and learning to like myself. When I become stressed, tired or board and I overeat my band reminds me that this is no longer an alternative. If I continue to push the band it becomes irritated and constricts more. I know if I want to keep my band I have to work with it and know that it is part of me. Probably for the rest of my life.

    chew chew and chew

I've been banded a year and a half. Here's my best synopsis. If I don't chew my food really well I eat too fast. If I eat too fast, by the time my band is able to tell me it's full it' already too late. The slower I eat, the better I'm able to recognize the sensation of being "band full". I stop eating and just sit for several minutes during evey meal. People look at me strange, but I'm waiting for my food to get far enough down so I know when to stop eating. Sounds weird, hope it makes sense.
  6. Hi! This is my first posting. I was banded May 15th, 2004 by Dr. Ortiz in Tijuana. I am 44 years old 5'1" my banded weight was 205 lbs. I am now 142 lbs. I would like loose 10 more pounds. Except with family, I'm not comfortable talking about my banding yet. I've joined your group in an effort to change that.
  7. Well, I'll start with the basics. I was banded May 15th, 2004 by Dr. Ortiz in Tijuana. I am 44 years old and 5'1" (almost), at the time of banding I weighed 205 lbs. As of today, I weigh 142 lbs. My weight has gone down very slowly. In fact I've lost the last 20 pounds in just the last year. I would like to lose 10 more pounds. Except for family I rarely discuss being banded. I changed jobs last year and only a few of my new coworkers know that I was obese. I decided to start posting on this website to help me open up about my banding. I feel like I need to be comfortable with who I was before I can learn to be comfortable with who I am now.
