United Healthcare - Just Beginning
Applebootom9 replied to amy.taylor8414's topic in Insurance & Financing
I was approved immediately without having to go through the 6mths of supervision and all the other things that so many are being told but with that being said I already had a history with my doctor and submitted that information to my surgeons office. Also, I contacted my UHC and asked what would be the stipulations for surgery and was told whatever the doctor required of me. I received approval first attempt. I believe it has to do with the surgeon and hospital that you choose. I wish you and others who are trying the best of luck. PS don't forget if you already have history with any of your doctors trying to loose weight submit the information it helps. -
As of today I am 203.4. Ready to start the Labor Day Challenge, yeah!

What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
Applebootom9 replied to bigjoe102's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I agree with Sue she could not have said it better. One of the reasons for going through this is to test our strengths as well as not doing what we have always done, frustrated we eat, sad we eat, hard to deal with life's issues we eat. The purpose of going through the testings and getting approval is to better our lives, no one can do it for you. This will be your story to tell and all of its ups and downs that are going to go with it. "Life Style Change" Best results are with accuracy and precision, trust that your doctors have your best interest at heart. Janice -
Way to go Steph on the triathlon! 214 .lbs

Hi everyone 217.8 today! YAY -
When I started on my journey I only told a few friends. After I got my surgery date I had a meeting with both of my parents. Well surprisingly my father was okay with it and my mother took it a little hard. So she asked questions for better understanding as to why I would go this route. I answered as best as I could for the sake of her comfortability. I realized that her being uncomfortable was because she had never really heard me talk about my weight. The day of surgery my parents were right by my side 4/13/15. Today my mom is asking me about my progress and has been proud of how I have been accepting of this journey. My father almost doesn't recognize me now and the rest of the family now knows. I have told more of my friends who have been supportive of my choice and have seen my previous struggles. When asked why did I do it I remind them that I have never been one to workout hard or turn my back on food..ha ha ha. Also because of some of my medical issues it was best decision made. I have been working harder at maintaining the goals that I have set for myself and that is not easy either but I'm happier doing it. You have to know the person you are when making the choices that best fit you, that's what I have done, whether they like it or not I personally don't care.

Itching all over body
Applebootom9 replied to amyecpa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm having the same itching issues and am planning to see an allergist or dermatologist. The itching is causing my skin to darken in areas. The itching is on my arms, upper back and kneck line, tried the cortisone cream and allergy pills none are helping. Will keep you all posted. -

I have hyperhidrosis which is excess sweating so I'm more aware of it and always sweet more than the average person. It sucks. I've let it control so much of my life. I'm kinda hoping I'll be like a lot if the people and be chilly after surgery. I'd like to see how the other side lives You are going to be in for a big surprise! Like the few of you that have expressed the hatred of sweating, I feel every word you speak of,lol. I had my surgery on April 13, 2015, and Ican tell you I don't feel hot like I use to and its surprising to me, I want to embrace it but afraid the heat will come back, ha ha ha.I thank you all for the words of encouragement to workout, to find something that you like to do. I need to get started on a regular regimen. GLA I sure hope it is that way for me!!!!!! Surgery is tomorrow for me... Eeek!! Congrats on surgery day, I will pray you have a speedy recovery! God Bless.
