Where are you buying Bariatric Fusion? The creamsicle flavor sounds good. We have Premier Protein and I prefer the vanilla and strawberries & cream.

Still scheduled to start my pre-op diet on the 6th. Surgery is scheduled for the 21. While insurance has approved it, the surgeon has yet to sign off on it. Fingers crossed that it'll remain the 21.

I was thinking about getting one myself for that same reason.

Another roadblock...
naturegirl replied to Margie122's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been dealing with a similar situation for the last week. My case manager informed me that my doctor has not yet signed off on my surgery that's 3 weeks away, due to a recommendation on my sleep study evaluation. The evaluation recommends that I see a sleep specialist, the surgeons office has had this report for 3 weeks and never said anything. So I called my pcp to get a referral, then my insurance to see if it was approved, then the sleep doc to schedule an apt... For September. Panic set in. Called the sleep Doc to learn more about the evaluation and learn that it was to be fit for equipment and to check back later on to determine if it's working. I received my new equipment and have been using it. So they're going to fax my surgeon explaining this with the hopes that he will sign off on my insurance. If he does then I'll be at the hospital in 3 weeks. If not, I have more time to wait. -
1st of July: July sleevers - how are we all feeling?

I'm nervous and scared, yet excited. Three weeks to go. -
sleeve done on the same day as spouse
naturegirl replied to TLCRC3SexyMom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My husband and I are both being sleeved. He was sleeved last week and I will be sleeved in three weeks. Our doctor encouraged them to be spread out do that while one is recovering the other will be there to drive, handle the kids, take care if the house, etc. we have 4 kids ages 4. 5, 8, 10 and the last week would have been challenging had we both been sleeved. I would encourage you to spread them out by a few weeks do that one parent us healing, the other functional. -
Bruising and Swelling following surgery
naturegirl posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
DH had his surgery yesterday and was discharged today. The nurse said some swelling and bruising is normal. My question is how much did you swell? Was it just at the incision site(s) which made you look lumpy? Also how long did it take to go away? BTW, We're not concerned/worried about his swelling, just wanted to hear about others experiences. Thanks! -
how long is the Gastric Sleeve surgery ?
naturegirl replied to boosh10's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
DH had his surgery yesterday and it was only an hour. -
DH has been using the Knorr bullion cubes. To help with added flavor he's mixed in a little onion, celery, and seasoning. You don't have to eat the veggies, but they do add a hint of flavor.

Pre-Op Shakes...Help!
naturegirl replied to ashley126's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
DH and I have been drinking Premiere Protein pre-made drinks form costco. So far chocolate is the best tasting in our opinion. Vanilla isn't too bad, but a bit sweet for my taste. In order to combat the sweetness/chalkiness I poured it over crushed ice and it was much more enjoyable. I actually drank it much quicker than when out of a cup or the disposable container. DH has added PB2 to his drinks to help add variety to the flavors. -
Last week I was able to schedule my surgery date and pre-op appointment under the assumption that my insurance company would approve the surgery. Today I contacted my insurance and confirmed that they did in fact approve my surgery! So come July 21 I will officially begin my new journey!

I Got my APPROVAL phone call today!

Congrats! -
Welcome to the group. I think that for many of us this is a learning experience where we are often on our own, not knowing anyone who has gone through the process. You'll find lots of good info and encouragement here.

I think you nailed it when you said that you need to find something to do. As I mentioned my husband is going through this right now and I do my best to cook meals when he's not home or serve dinner when he's downstairs relaxing after work. It's easier for us right now if he's separated form the temptation. But I know that once I start I will need to cook and serve dinner for the kids and then leave, or find a new hobby to invest my time in to get me through those two weeks, as well as when temptation strikes later on. Right now my worst time is after work but before dinner, as well as weekends. I think there are walks in my future as well as possibly planning out the upcoming year of Girl Scouting.

First Appointment Questions
naturegirl replied to thinner-me's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
These were three separate meetings for me, and I've only been through the meeting with the surgeon and psychologist, but I made sure to ask questions pertaining to the surgery itself. What are possible complications that they have experienced, and is there a way to avoid them? I am think of X procedure, and you are also recommending either X or Y, what are the benefits of this procedure over Y? I also asked about the little things like scaring, pain, healing process, and the procedure itself. With the psychologist he wanted to know about my diet/weight loss history. For me this included my athletic pursuits in high school to maintain my weight, a balloon of weight in college, and from there my ups and downs of diet and exercise. He was looking to see what I have tried, what has worked and what didn't, and why? It was actually a nice conversation IMO. Plus he also inquired about my family mental health history, and obesity. -
Can you possibly replace the craving with a flavored Water? They make drink mix ins that are sugar/caffeine free. My husband is a big drinker of diet soda and had to stop it as well for his pre-op diet, and the flavored drink mix is his solution as he dislikes plain water.

How am I supposed to document all of my previous weight loss attempts?
naturegirl replied to keddykat75's topic in Insurance & Financing
I just listed the multiple times (years) that I attempted WW, and the weight lost. Same with Ketosis, Calorie Counting, MFP, etc. We then went over them some more at our first meeting, and then again with the Psychologist. They just wanted to hear what I have tried and why is was or wasn't successful. The paperwork only required the last two years, but when we met we discussed the last 15 years to highlight the yo-yoing that I've gone through. -
Anyone here in northern Idaho on the Palouse?

What are you using for birth control
naturegirl replied to AnA92212's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
While I haven't had my surgery yet, I've had a Mirena IUD since 2011 and love it. Occasional cramping signals what would be that time of the month, but less than half a dozen incidents of spotting in 4 years. Honestly a period free lifestyle has been wonderful! Plus having conceived on the pill twice, it was time to switch to something else. I was on the pill for roughly 12 years, and honestly wish that I had considered the IUD sooner. -
Another person for July 21.

Cooking/meal prep for family during recovery
naturegirl posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How did you handle this during the days leading up to and weeks following surgery? I am the one who usually prepares meals for our family, and would rather not burden my parents with cooking each meal for the kids. Nor do I want them to eat fast food every night (if left to my parents). Did anyone prepare/freeze a bunch of meals in advance? My thoughts are the more that is done for them, the more likely it is the kids will have better tasting, healthier meals. Plus I doubt I'll have any desire to cook right away. Also DH is about to undergo surgery himself, so I don't want to burden him with this during his recovery process. -
My husband just finished week 1 of his 2 week post op diet. For the first 3-4 days he was grouchy and fatigued, but by day 4 or 5 he started to regain energy and wasn't quite as irritable. Hang in there. I realize that this is extremely difficult but remind yourself of the road ahead and the goals that you have for yourself. I start my pre-op diet in 3 weeks, and have been on a ketosis diet before, so I'm not looking forward to the restriction.

A friend of mine told me about the show a few weeks ago, and after watching a few snip-its became hooked. I've also introduced DH to the show and we use it as a reminder of what we don't want to become. It's nice that they are profiled over the course of a year so that you can see the process that they have made; plus the update episode was nice because you can see where they are further down the road; lke the one gal who now works in the clinic. I do however find myself frustrated at some of the patients when they refuse to walk/exercise or stop consuming junk food.

Did anyone loose weight on their pre-op diet
naturegirl replied to jabez's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
DH is currently finishing week 1 of his 2 week pre-op diet. He's on Protein drinks, sf Jello, broth, and a small amount of chicken or fish daily. He's down almost 10 pounds! I start my pre-op diet in 3 weeks. I have a feeling that sf jello will be my best friend as I'm not to thrilled with the taste of the Protein shakes.
