Sleeve restriction Question....
thisfathasgot2go replied to Frodo's Mom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did not eat soft foods until 2 weeks out. I could only eat about 1 oz. at first. I could possibly eat 2 oz. but that would not include the cheese I added. Your sleeve might still be a bit swollen at first, but whenI ate too much, my sleeve told me. I could feel a hiccup or burp or uncomfortable feeling like I could puke. I did not feel like eating more, nor could I, unless I wanted to see the inside of a toilet. Once you start soft foods, I think you are at 3 meals a day, rather than 4-6 small meals per day. I have Breakfast, then a Protein drink for AM snack, then lunch, then the rest of my Protein Drink for PM snack, then dinner. Drink 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after those meals, not during if possible. If you feel thirsty during the meals, maybe your meals are too dry. Make them as moist as possible. I am having the hardest time getting in my Water, but I have always lacked here. You can do it. Pay attention to your sleeve. Track your food and drink. It helps. -
I'm afraid to eat
thisfathasgot2go replied to Seahawkgirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was apprehensive. I had read about people getting sick, having diarrhea, etc. after moving to soft foods. But I tried scrambling some egg whites and adding some shredded cheese and it was fine. I could tell when I was full because I started to hiccup and/or burp. I felt it in my chest. I knew not to push it. I did have some loose stools that first day or two (this was last Thurs. and Fri.). But I have steadily tried new things to eat and so far so good. No sickness, some almost throw-up moments, but I got over the hump and soft foods are ok with me, which is good because I gotta go back to work so I need to have a menu for lunch items and balancing Protein shakes too. You can do it. Take your time and try something. -

I am just eating lunch now. I am having 1/2 pouch of Bumble Bee Tuna in Olive Oil with jalopenos with some Water crackers. Very good. I added some diced onions and cherry tomatoes. So good. I guess I will have the other half a pouch for dinner (as long as my sleeve likes it!). Glad your sleeve is accepting your food choices today! -
Things I didn't expect my first month post-op
thisfathasgot2go replied to SleeveMe247's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did not expect to have my period twice in this first month of GSV. Period 1 started on 10/6, sleeved 10/7 and Period 2 started 10/28. I have not been on a 22 day cycle before. But when I did some research on the site, I read about hormones going crazy and affecting periods. I did not expect this! -

Anthem blue cross
thisfathasgot2go replied to halalo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My daughter is going through the process. She is going with Dr. Feiz and was given a surgery date of November 18. She just met with her PCP today and has blood work tomorrow. She has had phone appointments with a psychologist and dietician. She has to get an EGD on November 16. I am not sure about Anthem's response for approval, but I think they are submitting this week after the blood work is processed, but Dr. Feiz seems to think the six months not apply in CA. My daughter has a BMI of 41. -

@@Shakti Welcome. Are you getting all your protein in to hopefully make you feel fuller? My weightloss is slow, but steady. Pre-op education helped me with my food obsession. This is definitely not easy, but just keep making good decisions at the grocery store and eating out. Surround yourself with high protein, low sugar and low carb foods so that you can eat and not deprive yourself. You can do it. -

Hope your body did ok on the Taco Bell stuff. I ate some chili my daughter made with ground beef yesterday and it was not the best reaction. I felt like I was gonna puke, but I did not, I breathed through it and walked around to shake the feeling. I will stick with ground turkey for now. I went back to old favorites today -- egg whites for breakfast and refried Beans and cheese for lunch. Thinking about dinner tonight, might just fall back on slice of turkey and cheese with a splash of broth. -
Are you tracking your food and exercise on MyFitnessPal or a similar site? I used it pre-op and post-op so that I physically see what foods had Protein and it helped me get to my goals. I am not doing the best with my Water intake, I am trying, but I hit my 60-75g protein goal most days. I also friend stalk other GSV/GB patients food diaries for motivation and food ideas. If you are on MFP, friend me and check out my food diary. I am 3 weeks post-op tomorrow and on soft foods. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/food/diary/thisfathasgot2go

Doc says no fruit--EVER
thisfathasgot2go replied to Whynotnow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, never is a long time! My post-op recommendations allowed a 1/4 cup of fruit beginning 2 weeks out, like soft peaches and pears (in juice for softening, but refraining from drinking said juice). I don't think it would hurt being a part of your diet in the future. -
