@@BohemianBeauty The classes were very helpful. I lost 17 lbs during the classes alone. Start using myfitnesspal to track your food and get used to a 1200 to 1500 calorie diet with all food groups represented and an emphasis on getting in your 75 grams of Protein daily and 64 oz of Water. Also track your exercise minutes at least 5 days a week. -

Need suggestions for Anthem Bariatric Friendly PCP in Los Angeles
thisfathasgot2go replied to thisfathasgot2go's topic in Insurance & Financing
@stacyg1 Hi, my daughter checked her list of PPO Anthem doctors and neither one is showing in-network. So I don't think she can use them because it will be a higher cost out of network. Thanks for the info. Your results look great. -
Need suggestions for Anthem Bariatric Friendly PCP in Los Angeles
thisfathasgot2go posted a topic in Insurance & Financing
My daughter moved off Kaiser and now has Anthem in the LA area of California. Any suggestions for a PCP who takes Anthem and will refer to a plan Bariatric Surgeon? Thanks! -

Had my surgery consult yesterday with Dr. Casillas. I think I have decided to do the GSV. Just waiting for a surgery date now at West LA. He was very confident and easy to talk to, discuss options, etc. He said I could go either way RNY or GSV. I could still change my mind but I have no existing conditions that would be benefitted from RNY like diabetes or GERD. -

I don't know if I am going to go with RNY or GSV. The more research I do, I think GSV is probably a better option for me. I was referred to a Dr. Casillas at West LA and have an appointment with him next week. -

I received lively, happy go lucky phone call (at 7:30AM) from Ginger at Kaiser this morning letting me know they approved me for a referral to the surgeon in WLA or South Bay. I need to continue losing towards my 10% and I need some questions to ask the surgeon. Any suggestions? They also asked me if I am considering RNY or GSV and I said RNY. -
Anthem Blue Cross of California- All about it
thisfathasgot2go replied to bellabloom's topic in Insurance & Financing
My daughter has Anthem Blue Cross through her employer here in California. She is looking for a bariatric, obesity supportive primary care physician in the LA/Glendale/Pasadena area so that she can start the journey towards weight loss surgery. Can anyone give me names of some LA area primary care physicians that support a bariatric surgery option as a way to lose weight? Thanks. -

OK, I will see how it goes tomorrow. Do you mean that I should bring shoes tomorrow to my last class or to the first meeting with the surgeon? I will let them know I am interested in the South Bay location to maybe get scheduled sooner. It looks like Dr. Zane has a good reputation, so I will see if I can request him. Thanks. -

Tomorrow is my last class of 12 in the Kaiser Options Hollywood class. I have to say 3 months has gone very quickly! I am down about 15 lbs. I am thinking of continuing with the Healthy Balance class afterwards because I am not sure when I will be scheduled for surgery. I like going weekly to weigh in and being accountable. I think I might fall out of line if I don't have this regular check-in. The Healthy Balance is $50 fee plus $10 a week though. Has anyone done this before surgery? -

@@surlygal Thanks for the info. That seems to be less than the 3 months of classes. Did you lose the 10% they ask you to lose? I would love to be in a secret FB group, do you know of one. I am reluctant to get on a public one since I don't want people (family and co-workers) to know what I am doing. @@Soexcited The time goes fast. My classes are only 3 months vs. 6 months, but I liked having to be accountable for each week and have found that the food diary, weigh-in's, exercise tracking, etc., has helped me see what I am doing wrong. Good uck! -
