My belly may be smaller, but my hands are still XXXL
Lynkaosgood replied to LittleBill's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
That is amazing work Bill!!! At the moment, funny you speak of cars. My mil loaned hubby and I her car until hubby and I could afford our own car (hopefully soon!!) Well hers is a 2014 Chevy Spark. Well it's a common problem that heater core goes out on these models. (Mil voided any warranty by having a random guy bypass the heater core with a system of hoses and clamps.) Here we are in Colorado with no heat whatsoever, the hose and clamps separate often so driving is frustrating filling the car with smoke and gross fumes. Hubby is my a mechanic, but a nurse, but can temporarily fix the hack job of the heater core. The fix is $700+ hubby and I can't afford it along with mil. Hubby tried to fix it himself, but does not have the tools or room (it's a tiny car he's 6'5) to completely take car dash apart and put back together. Bill wish you lived closer to give pointers and assist us with finding a good used vehicle!! Sent from my Alcatel_4060O using BariatricPal mobile app -

Anyone with food allergies? Immune issues? Generally cursed? (LOL)
Lynkaosgood replied to bitingcat's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I giggled at the delivery as well!! You are awesome!!! I had surgery on 11/09/15. Shortly thereafter a horrible series of events happened: we lost our apartment due to an altercation between my husband and a neighbor. Her dog was off leash and attacked our service dog through an enclosed fenced area, and I was pushed to the ground by her shoving me. Hubby defended me and punched her while I was trying to make her dog release mine. Apartment company decided that we had 3 days to move out BC cops were dispatched to our location. The apartments falsely stated we were evicted. Because of the eviction on our record we had a hard time finding a new place. In the meantime I had surgery (before the eviction incident) I lost Tricare prime insurance because we could not afford the premiums. I received Medicaid after Tricare was lost. Here is the kicker: they refused to treat me for all of the side effects that I was having: nausea,gi issues, low blood sugar, blood pressure issues, Vitamin absorption, all fun stuff!! They stated that I should go back to the clinic on post that did my surgery...it was a bad vicious circle. Finally a few months ago, I was able to afford Tricare prime insurance starting in November 2016. Last month I had severe abdominal pains and went to er. It was found that my IUD I had placed a year before surgery was lodged in a inappropriate place. It took an act of Congress to get an appt with an obgyn to have the IUD removed. At that appt, it took 2 people and 2 instruments to remove it in one piece. I had no damage to my lady parts, so I'm still able to carry a child. I'm also highly allergic to the whole cillin family of medicine, as well as coconut. Sent from my Alcatel_4060O using the BariatricPal App -
Sex..... Question for adults
Lynkaosgood replied to Raymia's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I removed IUD last month, just shy of my 1 yr anniversary of sleeve surgery. My IUD slipped and was causing trouble, so I decided to have it removed and no birth control. Hubby chooses not to wear condoms... I want to have kids, but he wants to wait a bit until he is finished with nursing school in about 2 years. Well I downloaded the ovia fertility app and have been tracking my cycle. I don't initiate sex at all, but I'm always horny!! I just don't want him to think I got pregnant on purpose. We have been married for 5 years. -

I was recommended to download the my fitness pal app from my nutritionist and it's very helpful!! Love tracking what I eat, exercise, and water intake. You can make notes and treat it as a diary.

Congratulations!!! I am just a bit over a year post op from the gastric sleeve surgery 12/09/15. I'm 5'5 and highest weight was 288. I'm now down to 148. My goal weight range was 130-140. (Whatever I feel most comfortable at.) I have not exercised until now, had lots of health issues that prevented that post op. I'm not on birth control either, (IUD removed last month.)so I could get pregnant any time. It's a small fear that I will gain baby weight and can't keep it off. Where are you on your weight loss journey?
Lynkaosgood posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hi my name is Ashley Osgood, living in Colorado Springs CO. I started my journey for weight loss in December 2014. I had my gall bladder out in December by Dr Wilcox. He happened to be the head surgeon for weight loss surgery at Ft. Carson. That was the beginning for a whole new outlook on life then. I took a few months to think about the surgery and its complications. My mother in law lives with my husband and I. She was less than thrilled to hear of my decision for weight loss surgery. She is absolutely against it and is very vocal about it. Praying for our own place away from her very soon. Anyways I have completed my extensive checklist for tricare approval for surgery. I was finally cleared for surgery on 05/14/15, I was so excited I almost bawled!!! I made the soonest appointment with my surgeon June 10, yeah that seems like such a long wait for something you are looking forward to. Hopefully I can be seen earlier if possible. The wait times for actual surgery after you see your surgeon is about 3 weeks. looks like i might be a July sleever. -

There is a group that I am heavily involved in on Facebook called All Things Bariatric. It is a closed group, so tell the administrator that Ashley Cuff Osgood sent you. Everyone there is so amazing, supportive and gives the kick in the butt needed. If you are having struggles both pre and post weight loss surgery, this is THE place to be!!! -
female only Losing the Dream (Mcdreamy that is) haunting parallels to my life
Lynkaosgood posted a topic in The Gals' Room
My name is Ashley. I watched last night's Grey's Anatomy and had a haunting flashback to my own life: When I was a newlywed my husband had gotten into a serious car accident with a semi truck on the highway. I had to go to the hospital to see my semi comatose husband who had just barely survived. I had received a police escort to said hospital and had to deal with millions of thoughts going through my head. I did not know what to expect when I had gotten there. I replayed every moment we were together thinking that it was the last one I would ever have with him. I bawled pretty hard that night, just needed to let some fear and other emotions out before my surgery. The image is the aftermath of Jacob's Accident.- 4 replies

Losing the Dream (Mcdreamy that is) haunting parallels to my life
Lynkaosgood replied to Lynkaosgood's topic in The Gals' Room
He was injured a year ago in Iraq from another rollover accident prior to this one. He has some nerve damage and shrank 2 inches of his 6'7 frame due to back compression of his vertebra. He has since retired medically from the Army and receives full veteran benefits. He is now finishing his degree in Emergency Medicine. On his really bad pain days, he walks with a cane and limps a little bit. He is quite my inspiration to lose the weight (100+) pounds gained within 3 years after marriage. I want to be able to push him to be able to work out and get healthier too. He is unable to do traditional army fitness exercises or run anymore due to his injuries. I want both of us to get healthier before we start our family. PCOS is no fun at all!!! This is our engagement picture, before weight gain and accident in 2010. -
Impatiently waiting...June sleevers?
Lynkaosgood replied to Seahawkgirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi my name is Ashley and I live in Colorado Springs CO. I have tricare, so I have been receiving care at Evans Army Hospital. I started my journey when I was having my gallbladder out in December 2014 by the surgeon Dr. Wilcox. I have been unhappy about my weight and being diagnosed with PCOS. I saw a book in his consult room that told about bariatric surgery. I was sold even before he came into the room. We discussed it at length and he told me he was the one who performs those surgeries. He invited me to come to the next months info session to feel it out. I was absolutely sold!!!! Right now im waiting on my blood test results to come back on my vitamin D levels. 4 weeks ago I was tested and I was dangerously low, so I was pushed back a month on getting my surgery. I have to wait until 4/30/15 to see the nutritionist about my levels, so excruciating!!! There is about a month waiting period once you have seen the surgeon and when you have surgery. So hopefully May/June sleeve surgery is on the horizon. -
PCOS and have been battling infertility for years, I am getting the Sleeve gastrectomy for my health, and to try to have kids. I am awaiting the dreaded lab results to see if my vitamin d is high enough to be placed on the month long surgical waiting list. Would love to meet up with locals to share fears, hopes, dreams and share encouragement. Feel free to pm me if you would like

Hi my name is Ashley, and I am 31 years old happily married to my DH since August 2011. He is a former Army member, so we have had our fair share of moving, but as of now we are living in Colorado Springs, with another move in the works to who knows where just yet. (He is retired but still likes to move around). We have 2 lovable 60 pound furbabies. I was diagnosed with PCOS after gaining 100 pounds following a foot surgery. We have been trying to expand our family since before we were married (when I thought I was at an OK weight of 170). I have always been overweight, but never obese until recently. I lost my mom at age 53 due to complications due to her being obese, smoking and eating bad foods. She weighed just over 300 pounds and was 5'3. I reached my highest weight at 289 pounds and I freaked out,not wanting to end up like my mom. I knew my days of being obese were numbered. My husband Jacob is completely supportive of all of my decisions I chose to make in the name of being healthy and happy. My mother in law on the other hand is less than helpful, ( she lives with us, for now.) She came out and said that I was taking the easy route and I should try different options and just try to lose weight that way. When she found out I had miscarried a few months ago, she just said its all for the best... Just want to smack her sometimes. Her negativity fuels my desire to rub it in her face when I finally succeed at losing weight and finally becoming a mother. Sorry its so long, that's just how this journey got started.
