    4'11", 200lbs - am I a good candidate?

I was a bmi of 40 with no other comorbidities. I am 8 months post op sleeve and down 80 lbs, 90 from my highest weight. Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App
  2. Hi! My surgeon told me the same thing. Unfortunately it wasn't true in my case. I hit my protein goal every day and have never once missed my vitamins (I have OCD so missing required things in my life isn't an option...lol). You might be one of the lucky ones and I hope you are. From reading these boards for the past year it seems to be hit or miss honestly. Good luck! Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App
  3. Hi. Good luck this week. You'll do great! I was not worried about either outside of just passing thoughts prior to surgery. I can tell you though I have both. I am 8 months post op. Let me start by saying I had thin hair on top of my head prior to surgery. Did I lose more? Yes. It started at about 3 months and is starting to let up now. Was it ever more visually noticeable? Not to others but to me yes. I spent $200 on a beautiful hair topper with highlights. Did I need it, probably not but it makes me feel good. So good I tell people it's not my hair and where to buy it. Nobody believes it's fake. Some days I don't wear it at all. I also use rogaine but that only works because I had hairloss before surgery. Do I have loose skin? Yes. I am 38 years old and have lost 80 lbs since starting this process (90 from my highest weight). Do others notice the loose skin? No, not unless I'm naked (and my husband thinks I'm beautiful). Do I notice it? Yes. But I still look so much better than i did 90 lbs heavier. I am even ok in sleeve less tops. And on days it bothers me, there are Spanx type items I can wear. The moral here, there are things you can do to combat both. Don't let that deter you from being health. You totally got this. I look forward to seeing you on the losers bench. If you want to see the hair message me. I am totally self conscious about my appearance (ridiculous for someone my age but it is what it is)but I'll share privately. Seriously don't let these things stress you out. I struggle with the inability to see my weight loss so I know how concerning this stuff can be. Hugs. Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App

    Well :-(

I'm sorry that happened to you. I read your post and don't understand why it would be removed. I wish I had your confidence. Don't let this be more than a minor blip on the radar. Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App

    Almost 2 years

You look great, you really do. I am 8 months out and also in a rut. I haven't lost any weight in about 2 months and before that I was stalled for 6 weeks (lost 6 lbs between these 2 stall). I am also about 30 lbs from goal and struggle with my image. I don't see the loss and am not comfortable in my skin. I am in a size 10 pants and a medium top (previously a 22 pants and a 2xl top). I understand 110% what these stalls do to motivation. I am on track still (I'd say 95% of the time) but some days I wonder if this is it for me. It is encouraging for me to see your post and know you aren't giving up and neither should I. Thank you! Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App

    In a bad depression slump...

Hi there. We are our own worst enemies. I am a mental health warrior and have been fighting my battle for a long time. Two things I've noticed since I was sleeved in November of 2015. 1. I had to switch my medicine. What I previous had been on for a while that was working well stopped working completely. I was a mental mess. 2. Exercise is an absolute must for mental support. The less I exercise the more my symptoms set in. And I HATE exercise but have learned it's necessary to my mental well being. Talk to your Dr. And hang in there. You totally got this. I believe you can overcome this. We are here for you.???? Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App
  7. Hi. I was sleeved Nov 2015. I've lost exactly 80 lbs (90 lbs from my highest). I have been holding steady at 176 lbs for quite some time now. I am 5'4". I am in a size 10 pants and medium top (previously I was a size 22 pants and a size 2x top-tight). And BTW, you look awesome. Great job! Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App

Me too. I use Fake Bake. I love it. That said, I have been spray tanned while I was heavy and I didn't lift anything up. Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App

    Airport security issues ?

I fly pretty frequently and have never been patted down until after my VSG. Since my VSG the body scanner always indicates my stomach and my stomach is always patted down. Every time. Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App

    What's your favourite...

I also like Rascal Flatts, "I've dealt with my ghosts, and faced all my demons. Finally content with a past I regret. I've heard you find strength in your moments of weakness. For once I'm at peace with myself. I've been burdened with blame, trapped in my past for too long. I'm movin on." Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App

    What's your favourite...

So... I am a total girl. That said, I often find myself randomly singing these lyrics thru out the day: "To the window (to the window), to the wall (to the wall) To the sweat drop down my balls (my balls) To all these b!tches crawl (crawl)" GET LOW by Lil Jon & the East Side Boys Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App

The warning signs were all there...i was so stupid

We are human. We all have made mistakes. You were trying to make a marriage work. Forgive yourself and move on. Life goes on and it'll get better. Trust me, I've been where you are. Hugs. Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App
  15. Not a requirement in Chicago IL either, at least not my hospital, though I get it! They made us scrub down during the pre-op check in though with something they provided us with (left me sticky..yuck). I always find the differences place to place so interesting. How do you beat the heat?

I am always cold since being sleeved (low Iron issue that the dr is still trying to fix). It's almost 100 here and I think it feels great. My family is like "seriously lady". It's so weird because I was always the person sweating and the AC was never cold enough. Now I go outside on hot days just to be comfortable. Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App
  17. So, almost another month since my last check in, I am down to 176. Only 2.5 lbs. I have been stuck for over 3 weeks again and lost those 2.5 lbs in the last 3 days. I am betting this is my pattern going forward. It's a struggle but it's all worth it Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App

I havent been here for a while

You look great and are doing wonderful. That's an awesome loss so far! I was sleeved 11/16 so we aren't far apart. Welcome back to the BP! Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App

    Stress-induced Weight Loss

It's definitely something to think about. I was previously married for 10 years. Got divorced over 10 years ago. I've since remarried (someone else of course) and have been married for almost 7 years. I am also a mental health patient (OCD and anxiety) and have taken medication my adult life. I had to make a medication change since being sleeved but absolutely cannot be without it. It's hard to imagine something changing between my husband and I but seeing you and Jamie go through this does give me some anxiety (it's my worrying nature of course). I really hope you can work things out if that is what you want. It's a rough road, but one way or another you will come out stronger. Just believe that. Stress-induced Weight Loss

Lurking on this thread feeling sad for both of you Jamie & Babbs. I don't know either of your individual circumstances but it's sad to see two solid rocks on this site in these situations simultaneously. Take care of yourselves...both of you. Hugs. 22. I am down 78 lbs. My surgery was 11/16/2015. I lost 72 lbs by 4.5 months post op. I then stalled for 6 weeks, dropped 6 lbs in 3 days, and have been stalled for 3 weeks again. Though I am sure the stalls are impacting my mentality somewhat, they aren't my real concern. The past few weeks I have gotten very down about the way I look. I don't see the loss like I did before. Mirrors, pictures, and glass reflections are upsetting me. I am 8 lbs away from being in the overweight BMI category, which means I am still deemed obese as I am. I am wearing a US size 10 pants and mostly medium tops (formally I was a 22 pant and 2X top). I currently weigh 178 lbs at 5'4". I have quite a bit more to lose. I do see a therapist (appt in a few days) because I have OCD and anxiety, but this doesn't feel like either of those things. I know there are such things as "phantom fat" and body dysmorphia. Is that what this is? I never imagined I'd feel this way. I truly feel like I look heavier than ever. Has anyone been through this? How did you help yourself?
  23. Don't be discouraged. I will never forget my first time on the elliptical. I think I did 2 minutes but I literally wanted to stop at 1 minute. I didn't because my husband was watching and I was too embarrassed. At 2 minutes though I thought I was going to throw up or pass out so I quit. Every couple days I added a little more time. It took a few weeks to get up to 20 minutes. I now do it on the highest resistance while I carry 5 lb hand weights in each hand for 30 to 45 minutes. Do I enjoy it? Honestly no because it kicks my butt and I sweat so much I might actually evaporate, but I do it regularly. I tell that machine I hate it every time I go downstairs to it. Truthfully though, It's a great work out that is gentle on my hips. It takes time. Don't be discouraged. We all start somewhere. Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App

Hair Loss :( What to do

Rogaine does not help with this type of hair loss...save your $. Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App I had hairloss before this surgery which is why I am using it. It was only $30 for a 3 month supply so I will give a a whirl and see what happens. Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App

Hair Loss :( What to do

I am almost 7 months post op and suffering significant hairloss. My hair was already thin before surgery. I am 6 weeks into starting Rogaine for women. In the last week I've started to think maybe my hair looks a little thicker but nothing significant yet. Apparently it can be 3 months before you see results though. I will update this post if and when I notice any hairs growing. Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App
