  1. Through out the last 8 months I've been reading reading reading. Not just this site but others. My surgery is in 2 weeks and and my Surgeons method of diet after seems much different than what I've read a lot of on here. I am totally going to follow his guidelines because he is my surgeon and was recommended by my Primary Dr. He also works out of a Bariatric Center of Excellence, and I know several people who have gone there with MUCH success. However, he is totally against any yogurt until 4 months post op, and totally against any form of milk (regular, skim, soy, almond, fairfield, etc...) until you're at least 75% to goal weight. No cream Soups either... Huh? From what I've read this seems to differ a lot. I know we all have different surgeons and different direction, but I'm a little perplexed. What gives? For me I don't like yogurt but planned on using it to put Protein powder in. I also like my protein shakes so much better with almond milk but I will use them with Water now. Any one elses Dr like this?

Day one of two week pre op diet...

Good luck!!! How much did you lose in the 2 weeks. Our plans sound similar. You will do great today!! I am so excited for you.I've lost another 10 so far putting me at 47 lbs lost since starting this journey in April. I've read about lots of people having to do 2 weeks of clear liquids so I won't complain about getting the easier diet hahaCongrats on the 47 lbs. WOW!! I am down 15 since I started in April. You will be a sleeve rock star!

Day one of two week pre op diet...

Have you gotten any guidance from your surgeon? Mine pretty much took the guess work out of it for me. A shake for Breakfast, a shake for lunch, and a high Protein no/low carb dinner (basically 4oz of lean meat and non starchy veggies). I was told sugar free Jello and popcicles are OK but I'm going to try to avoid them.
  7. <<< Frantically waving from the corner!!! I posted darn near the same thing 2 weeks ago when I got my date (which is the day before yours). I started my pre op diet today. Been quite the adventure so far. Anyway. I have kids too, one very much a toddler. I am not as tall as you, I'm 5'4" and am at 250 lbs. I have a solid support system so that definitely helps me, and nobody has discouraged me (might be because I'm an onery b!t#h and nobody wants to cross me). Find 2 supportive people that you can talk to through out the next two week as well as afterwards. You'll do great. You've come this far and started this process for a reason, don't forget that reason. Let me know if you need to talk. Also, after my initial freak out I've been much better so maybe it'll pass for you too.

Day one of two week pre op diet...

So I just ate dinner. I am ending the evening at 691 calories. I have drank 102 Oz of Water no additive (and still drinking), and had about 70 grams of Protein. I feel hungry. Lol. I have about 2 hours until I can feasibly go to bed. Ack!

Day one of two week pre op diet...

Thanks all. I knew it would be hard and I know I'm strongest at first go. I just need to grin and bear it. I'm very thankful that I get to eat food for dinner. I am able to sugar free Jello and popcicles, and I did buy some. I have elected to make one part of my dinner. My Dr really encouraged stopping the snacking/grazing. That is a huge part of my problem overall so now is as good a time of any to tame that beast. As much as I wish I could go to sleep for the next two weeks I really need to learn a few things so ultimately this is for the best.

    November Sleevers

Hi. Let us know what your surgeon suggests. They guidance totally variable from Dr to Dr.
  11. I'm not knocking anyone's program, I'm just curious as to why. I have no doubt you can hit Protein goals without it. Also seems rather arbitrary to allow cottage cheese but not yogurt. I understand not allowing the flavored yogurts, but why not plain Greek yogurt? That's exactly what I thought!! I just wanted some variety. I don't even like yogurt but the thought of having something besides cottage cheese was nice...lol. I am also surprised I can't have refried Beans or any beans until 1 month. I was soooooo looking forward to refried beans during the pureed stage because I love them. Sigh. I will definitely be asking. Thanks
  12. I was also surprised that when I get home from the hospital (day 3 after surgery) I can eat cottage cheese, eggs, and all other pureed foods. Nice for me, though a little scary. Soft foods starting week 2, normal meats at 1 month with added veggies, and I can add fruit at month 2. I'm not complaining. Just perplexed by the yogurt/milk thing.
  13. I am not worried about meeting my goals...yet. I know that's easy to say since I've not had my surgery yet, but I have bought several top quality products to ensure I have everything I need on hand, even if it comes down to mixing protein powder in broth, water with crystal light, etc...
  14. I meet with him directly on the 11th and will ask. This was communicated via his nutritionist and nursing team. They had an entire video as well as on hand dietician to talk about the importance of avoiding these things.

    November Sleevers

What does your pre op consist of? And how long? I am so interested in how they vary so much. Makes you wonder what is REALLY necessary, yanno? Mine is lienant compared to others, but then some people don't have to do one at all. I of course have had one shake and my mind is all ready screaming that it's hungry. This is such a mind game for me. I know I'm not hungry, it's because I am doing something that I know will be hard. If I hadn't eaten yet but wasn't on the pre op diet I'd be fine ( I had my shake). Head hunger is real! I am so excited though for this I hope it motivates me thru the next two weeks.

    What exercise 4 weeks out?

I haven't had surgery yet but my surgeon said nothing besides walking until 5 weeks post op. Talk to your Dr. Good luck and way to go!

11/16 folks, anyone else starting their pro op diet in the morning??? I am so ready to get this show on the road! I am all ready. Thank God I found a protein shake I like. It'll make the next two weeks easier. I also got my dinners planned out. My pre op diet is shake for breakfast, shake for lunch and 4 Oz lean meat and half cup veggies for dinner. I'm sure it's gonna be tough but I am fully aware it could be worse. Let's gooooooo!! We got this!

Silver Cross 4 hour nutrition class

Did you happen to catch though that they claim if you take their vitamins you won't lose your hair? I don't know what to think about this vitamin thing.

Silver Cross 4 hour nutrition class

Have you done any vitamin research? I was caught off guard a little when they told us we have to use theirs FOREVER and they are $25 a month. I don't care about the cost as much as I care about how inconvenient it is to go there to the office for their special vitamin.

Silver Cross 4 hour nutrition class

Oh. And the first visit they just go over your health info with you. Take height and weight. Ask which procedure you are interested in. Dr checks you over. No biggie.

Silver Cross 4 hour nutrition class

It is $400 now. I just paid it lol. And yes, all you get is a Protein powder, a shaker to make shakes, a Garmin tracker, Vitamins, and a CD of the Bariatric bible. The class goes the entire 4 hours! I didn't attend the seminar until after I had completed my monitored weight loss. That was early August. I couldn't get an app with the surgeon until late August, and then completed all 3 of the required evaluations within the month of September.
  23. I wore mine tight enough to feel secure. But not like a waist cincher or a corset. Basically just tight enough to hold me comfortably in place.
  24. I haven't had surgery yet but wore them after my c-sections. I wore them for a LONG time. Like...months. lol. I really believe it helped shape my belly a little better. Plus it made coughing, sneezing and sitting upright less painful.
