    NSV! Onederland finally!

I thought it was a medical term for the longest time. Out of fear of looking stupid, I just never asked what it meant! When I saw it being used by people who had bands or bypass I knew it was something other than sleeve related. My wife looked over my shoulder one time and deduced it right away. I like to think I am so smart, but she puts me in my place without even trying!

Guy's Room - Calorie target 9 months out?

Man, I can hit 100 grams of Protein a day sometimes, but not all the time or routinely like many of you guys seem to be able to do. OKCPitate, I think I will take a gander at your MFP just to see what I am doing differently. I had my 9 month follow-up appointment yesterday. It went well I am glad to report, but there was a suprise as well. Nothing major, just unexpected. I am going to start another thread on that in a bit. Doesn't pertain to this discussion and I like to keep my threads relatively clean.

    Wasting food mental issue

It's not a form of OCD in my opinion. I grew up poor. My mom could make leftovers last a week. Nothing was wasted. We also had the "clean plate club". I'm sure that many other people here had something similar. Didn't matter if you liked it or not, that's what there was to eat. We were praised as children to finish our food and "clean our plate" with the slice of bread at the end. Now that I am older and not poor, you would think that I could break that habit. Nope. I didn't get this far by being a wasteful person. Unfortunately, I did get fat by not being the wasteful person. Here is what we are doing in my house now. We are only cooking a very little bit. If they are still hungry afterwards, they can make something for themselves. Turns out, if they have to work for it they aren't that interested in it! Maybe try that for your boyfriend and their kids.

    Vegetables?

A word on salads - in a pinch or every once in a while regular lettuce salads are OK. But if you need a salad more often (like me) learn to like kale. Nutritionally dense, especially compared to iceberg lettuce. Also, salad dressings are very high in calories that don't really bring much to the table for us. If you are at a place with a salad bar, just get the "goodies" instead of the lettuce. Broccoli, peas, eggs, cheese, etc...

Guy's Room - Calorie target 9 months out?

@@BigTink2LilTink - see? That is exactly the type of information I am looking for. Were you told to your calories up at that level by your nutritionist or surgeon? I have an appontment today with my surgeon and this is something I will be asking him.

    So weak and tired

Oh man, how could I have forgot to mention this?! I was a zombie the first two weeks after my surgery because of my BP meds. That was a huge help when I was told to stop taking them. Good job pointing this out!

    NSV! Onederland finally!

Congrats on the milestone! I had to chuckle though, your Non-Scale Victory was the scale reading 1XX! It doesn't matter what kind of victory it is, claim whatever victories you can!

    So weak and tired

Time. That is really the only thing you can do. I would advise against drinking coffee/caffeine just yet. I realize it will be tempting for that moring boost, but it will upset your stomach so soon after surgery.

    Vegetables?

I'm thinking for me it was the one month mark. It wasn't much, just a nibble at a time though. My wife used a lot of cauliflower to make "rice" and she also used it to make a pizza crust mixed with cheese. By 2 months, I think I was able to actually eat all of those veggies normally; albeit slowly.

Guy's Room - Calorie target 9 months out?

@@dlappjr Damn man, 80lbs in 3 months?! Yeah, I'd say you are due for a stall. Your body is going to be doing some major adjusting and redistributing resources. I think you'll find your measures shrinking at this time. At that time frame, my stalls were broken with increased fluids and Fiber. Staying regular was and continues to be a struggle for me. Once I got back to regular, I was back to 2-3 lbs a week loss. If you don't already, learn to love prunes, figs, and dried apricots. I can lose 2 lbs in a day once things are moving again.

The fear of regain is REAL!

You should send her a picture of some pants that you just bought and say, "I bet you wish you could wear these". I think that would be pretty funny.
  12. Man, I can't believe you are already one month post op. The days just keep going by faster and faster. I have to tell you Dub, you have probably the best attitude about everything related to this surgery that I have read on here. You're a better man than I. I have hit my first real stall. Just completed 3 weeks of lose/gain 1 pound. I'm not too angry about it, more curious than anything. I just have to find out what I am needing to beat the thing. Is it time to up my calories? Do I need to lower them? More Fluid? More exercise? Less? Meh... I'll figure it out sometime. I mean, I have the rest of my life, right?
  13. The elliptical has long been my favorite machine. I started out on a stationary bike, but my gym eventually switched them all to recumbent ones and I hate those. So I was already used to doing cardio workouts. I tried the rowing machine for a while, but we never clicked. The first time I tried the elliptical I didn't care for how little up and down motion it had, but the sweat that poured outta me convinced me to continue using it. I started on 20 minutes and stayed there for years. I only had so much time at lunch away from work. But now that I have a more flexible schedule, I routinely do 30-45 minutes on level 8. I just sign into the gym wifi and stream a Netflix show. I get lost watching that and before I know it the show is over and I have a 150 bpm heartrate. Just keep at it.

    A true mans NSV

While my wife & I were getting ready for work this morning, I double checked the weather. Looked like it was going to be a chilly day here in Ohio. I grabbed one of my new-to-me fleece sweaters that I picked up at the local thrift store. My wife grabbed one as well and to her dismay she discovered she could not wear it because it was too small for her. The days of my wife stealing my clothes are finally at an end!

    Sex... Oh My God... Sex!

No. Well, not anymore. But that did happen in the beginning! What I am referring to however is that my wife cannot keep her hands off me. At all. My god man, I'm chafing!

    Sex... Oh My God... Sex!

OK guys, I know up until now you have been reading thread thinking how awesome it is or will be. It's not. I'm tired. Just tired... I'm only a man, not a machine. I literally have lied to my wife and said that I had to get up early the next day, or I have a headache, or my back is spasming... anything to get some sleep at night. I feel like a piece a meat. Sometimes I just want to be held, is that so wrong?!

    ok, dumb social experiment

I have never done the missed connection thing, but I would ask him to wear the clothes that he had on that day (the best that you can remember) and send a picture. Ditto for you. Then, if you decide to meet, meet at the same location. That way the person and the location are the same and you will have the greatest chance of remembering if this is the right person.

New body brings new partners -- many new partners

If you were a guy, I'd say you were a cad. If you were a guy, I'd say you were the type that gives the rest of us a bad name. If you were a guy, I'd say that you are using your newfound sexual appeal the same way that a young boy wields a new toy sword. Recklessly and careless of the possible pain you can inflict upon the people you are playing with. If you were a guy, I'd think you were the type that has low self esteem and is seeking some, hell... any sort of validation of their self worth. Unfortunately you are only getting it in the form of physical intimacy. If you were a guy, I'd tell you to man up. Deceiving a spouse in this way is detestable. Let them go and try to find a partner that is worthy of their time. If you were a guy, I'd tell you that they way you are behaving is contemptible as well as totally reprehensible. But you're not a guy; you're a woman. So I won't say any of those things to you. You say you don't want to hurt anyone, then go on to say that you feel no regret. You aren't coming here for advice, you are coming here for permission. Most likely because if you were to tell any real friends, they would find the situation as repugnant as I do.

ADULTS SAY THE MOST STUPIDEST THINGS!

I've heard all of these before, but the newest one was someone asking me, "Are you single now?" lol, everyone knows the wife fattened me up.

Hey you, out of the dating pool

I can go even further back. I met my wife through AOL chat rooms! It wasn't a dating one though, it was one dealing with Central American history. Never happens when you expect it.

    Probably a dumb question but....

I should also mention that my thirst nowadays is not the same as before surgery. I don't eat any junk food anymore, no serious sweets and my sodium is probably cut in half. So my thirst is more easily slaked than before. If you follow a healthier diet like we are supposed to, I wouldn't be surprised if you find the same true for you as well.
