Where to go in mexico
wascott replied to chunkycharlie's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
The OCC mentions the price range on this page: http://www.obesitycontrolcenter.com/surgery-options/gastric-sleeve.php The price can vary depending on your specific circumstancs. If this is your first bariatric surgery then you'd probably be at the lower end of that range. -
Congratulations and good luck! I'll be doing the same thing in 3 weeks.

Real Food, Real Weightloss, Still Delicious

Looks fantastic! I prefer a bit of hot sauce like Cholula...which is nice since it's zero carbs. -

wascott replied to Lorenita Vee's topic in Vegetarian or Vegan Eating
@ Good question. I'm also wondering what a pouch test is. -
Welcome! There's plenty of good information on this board.

Several weeks ago I got my treadmill out of storage and setup in the house. I hadn't used it in over 3 years since I moved. I was in pretty bad shape having gained a lot of weight in those 3 years. The first day I mamaged to walk for 30 minutes. I went really slow with zero incline. I did it again the next day. As I felt myself getting more comfortable with breathing and post walk recovery, I started increasing the time, distance, and incline. My goal is to average at least an hour a day, every day. As I've lost weight I've started adding weights to my walking workouts. I have hand weights, ankle weights, and recently purchased a 20 pound weight vest. Now I vary the workouts to keep things interesting. When the weather is good I'll walk outside. I tend to walk faster and farther outdoors and the time seems to go by twice as fast as when using a treadmill. Some day I hope to start backpacking again.

I am a big fat phony failure

I weigh myself every morning and log the data in a spreadsheet. It is the primary feedback in a complicated system that I'm trying to control. I don't obsess over a reading or two as they are not statistically relevant by themselves. However, I can use a collection of data points to detect long term trends.

Dehydration Question

I'm worried about the same thing. Right now I can consume the entire 64 ounces from my camel back while doing a 7 mile walk. -
20 lbs down on liquid diet pre-op
wascott replied to need change's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Good for you! I'm worried about the 2 week pre-op liquid diet. I'm close to my surgery weight goal already. I keep telling myself that if I tough it out then I'll be that much closer to my final goal. I've been doing a lot of walking. I wonder if I should cut back while on the liquid diet. -

wascott replied to Sara51692's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sounds like you're doing good. I read that you may not feel hungry for a while after surgery. Be sure to keep hydrated. I'll be in your shoes in a little more than 3 weeks. -
Impatiently waiting...June sleevers?

@@work2Bskinny If you weren't doing a high protein low carb diet before the liquid diet your headaches may be caused by your body entering ketosis. Basically going from a glucose (sugar) based metabolism to a ketone (fat) based metabolism. If all goes well they should subside soon. Good luck! -
Specifically GasX strips.

I recently did a google search for photos of people with various body mass numbers so I could get a better idea on what I should target. I ran across this interesting web site that generates a simulated front and side view of a man or woman. Simply enter gender, age, height, and weight then press calculate bmi. You can then drag a slider up or down to simulate a lower or higher BMI. I found it helpful. http://bmijs.is.tuebingen.mpg.de/en/body_masses/get_data

Great work! -
I don't ride anymore but back in the old days I had a 1983 KZ440. I still have my leather jacket. Maybe I'll fit into it again some day.

I always use the "Together we have lost" at the bottom otherwise my tickers get out of sync with my side bar.

@@Tanika81 I don't remember seeing that recipe in this thread. I've made pasta free lasagne in the past. There are many recipes that use zucchini in place of noodles. These typically soak zucchini slices in salt water to draw out excess moisture then patted dry before use. Eggplant works good too. I recently ran across this lasagne casserole recipe that uses spaghetti squash. http://uprootfromoregon.com/2015/02/04/spaghetti-squash-lasagna-casserole/ -
@@Smye it would be an interesting addition if they added body type to the input parameters. @@Jb1176 My goal might be a little aggressive. I'll reevaluate once I get closer.

What made you finally want Weight Loss Surgery?
wascott replied to AussieSam's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@@Djmohr That's a great question. I'd certainly bring that up with your spinal surgeon. My triple fusion surgery was 17 months ago. (Where did that time go!) It took about a year before the bones were finished growing. My sleeve surgery isn't until next month so I didn't have to heal those bones while calorie restricted. Your surgeon might want to adjust your supplemental nutrients while you heal. My sister is having a disc replaced with an artificial disc next month. I hope you both do well and get some relief.
