Ok. WTF am I doing wrong?
wascott replied to thecakewasalie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Empty carbs like pretzels not only don't fill you up, they drive additional hunger. Stay away from grains. (Bread, crackers, rice, etc) Add plenty of green veggies. If you need a dressing, make it zero calorie. Even reduced calorie dressings are a killer. Good luck! -
Only 12 days out since my sleeve and so much has changed (pic inside)
wascott replied to EnglishDan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@EnglishDan Thanks for sharing! You have boosted my motivation. I'm on day 11 of my pre-op liquid diet. Between pre-pre-op dieting and the liquid diet I've lost a pleasant amount of weight. I have a hard time seeing it. I have noticed a change in the way my clothes fit though. Keep up the great work! -
I Have A Snacking Problem? Help!
wascott replied to Disabledaccount's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Snack on high protein low fat foods if you must. They'll make you feel fuller longer. I plan to keep a supply of jerky around. -

June 2015 Mexico Sleevers

@@Mp1409 Yes, I'll be at the OCC. I arrive at the Marriott on Sunday and depart Thursday. Perhaps we'll run into each other. How's your pre-op liquid diet going? -
I've had the same problem ever since I went to a low carb high protein diet. I'm still pre-op so I'm taking Metamucil. I'll have to adjust my strategy for post-op. I take probiotics daily but the problem persists.
-
I'm on day 10 of my liquid pre-op diet. I'm officially sick of protein shakes.
-
Thank you! Considering I'd given up on ever losing weight, this has been going well. Too bad I donated a bunch of clothes last year that no longer fit. Hopefully even those would have been too big soon.
-
I've got a recipe coming in the next day or two that you might love and that, strangely enough, will hybridize protein shakes with green leafy veggies in a delicious savory soup.

June 2015 Mexico Sleevers
wascott replied to judi23's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
@@Mp1409 My surgery is the day before yours. -
Unjury sells a sample pack that includes two servings of several flavors including chicken. The kit also includes a shaker bottle and a thermometer. (You don't want to get your liquid too hot or the protein will congeal like an egg)
-
I wouldn't be on mine. I'm on day 10. Unjury has a chicken soup flavored protein mix. I haven't tried it yet but others seem to like it.

How accurate is your calorie counting?
wascott replied to Sara51692's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Yeah there's a lot of wishy washy entries in Myfitnesspal. That being said, food is naturally going to vary quite a bit just like the calories you burn in a day. I think it's a good habit to log food and physical activity. If you stall or start to go up you can take a look at your data and formulate a course correction. I don't obsess over it. I just try to remember to get it all documented. -
Yeah, I don't even bother pushing that button anymore.
-
I'll be there in a week!
-
Only 1 fried egg? Ridiculous!
-
I've used some EAS complete protein. My favorite is Premier Protein shakes. Unjury is very popular plus they sell a sample collection.
-
Congrats! Congrats!
-
Glad they caught it early. Good luck with the surgery and recovery!

Hi, Is anyone on the liquid protein preop diet ?
wascott replied to lisemaria's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Unjury has a chicken soup flavored protein mix. -
I also prefer Premier Protein shakes. Costco has a good price. It's available in my local Costco as well as online. I like all 3 flavors. I like not having to mix powders.
-
That's great. I tried to get upgraded to a fancy machine but they wouldn't do it unless my machine was broken. I need to reduce my pressure just on my pre-op weight loss. I hope I can get off it altogether some day.
-
@@lisemaria I'd be happy to support you. Feel free to ask questions. There are many great folks on this site.

Blue Cross of Florida just crushed my dreams
wascott replied to stuart85's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have BCBS and it specifically says that bariatric surgery is not covered. I'm being sleeved in Mexico in a few more days for just a little bit more money than what my out of pocket maximum would have been even if they covered this surgery. Good luck! -
pre-op liquid diet question
wascott replied to aliciac's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't drink soda myself but my liquid diet allows sugar free sodas. -
I'm being sleeved on the 22nd. I'm a bit nervous but I know I'll be better off once I get my weight down. I'm currently on day 4 of the liquid pre-op diet. Looking forward to being past this stage.
