  1. Personally, I did not want input from anyone other than my surgeon when I decided to do WLS. My thought was that I had lived most of my life listening to people talk about how bad obesity was on health and how such surgeries were an easy way out.....blah blah.... I did not need any validation from anyone regarding my decision, it was my life my decision!! Only I knew my pain, struggles and hopes. So.... the day before surgery (preregistration), I told my husband to expect a large withdrawal because I was having WLS surgery the next day. He smiled and said, that if that was what I decided to do, to go for it. So to this day, only my husband and surgery team know. (duh! and you guys ) I am perfectly OK with my decision.

    Gummy vitamins

I am suffering in this area too. I have tried couple brands and the chalky taste does not settle well. I tried Celebrate capsules and the after taste when the capsule dissolves is unbearable... I am now waiting on my chews. Crossing my fingers that I can tolerate those.
  3. Hi, it would be best to ask the benefits administrator so that you are truly sure.
  4. By far the funniest post! What you said "Please judge me cruelly" made me lmao.... will come back when I stop laughing
  5. Hey, I find that regular food just means what my stomach can tolerate now and is not in a puree state. Some foods I ate before just can't stay down so while the fast food you had before might still seem acceptable in your head, the stomach might not cooperate when you try it. Like someone said keep snacks that you have already tried and are sure you can eat.

    Sad Day

So sorry for whats going on. For your own sake it might be better to let your self feel the loss than mask it with fear. You have a really good thing going for you and the sooner you get back to it the better. Take care of yourself.

    Giving up

Sorry for your dilemma, stay healthy all around and keep looking. Its alright to be frustrated and to accept criticism and advice. If I were at your stage of the journey, I would checking off a bucket list of all those things I missed out on while overweight - you might find your friend along that journey. All the best!!!

    Heartburn!

My surgeon asked I take an antacid for 60 days after surgery. Talk to your surgeon and let them know what is going on. Hope this gets resolved soon.

    Lucky sleever

Wow! Congratulations on such success. Please do not over do it, keep to your surgeon's orders both on food and exercise. It takes a while to truly be back to normal. Glad you are having so much fun.

    Bummed and angry

Congratulations on getting here. It is cold feet and we all had it at this period in our journey. Do not get discouraged, it is not that you will not be able to enjoy food, you will enjoy it. It will just be a different relationship with food. I did feel like you and I mourned food and was conflicted but I must say going ahead with my surgery was the best decision of my life. I am still early in the post phase but I am slowly learning this new relationship with food.
  16. Congratulations on your journey. I had to lose 5% of my weight. For me it was surgeon required to prevent problems during surgery due to large liver. It is for your own safety and better surgical outcome. My surgeon had a disclaimer that if I did not lose he could refuse operating on me. Not sure of the insurance aspect though. Just follow the diet and you should lose, it is hard especially knowing where you are headed but keep trying. Good luck!
  17. All the best in your journey! You made me smile
  18. Hello, I highly recommend the Nicholson Clinic in Dallas area, they are an awesome group that will work with you and have great self-pay options.

Thank you for expressing the gratitude that I also feel. There are so many topics discussed here that were never covered by my bariatric team. Bariatric Pal community and my husband are my support group!

I also get more information here than from the doctor, especially my primary. This is a wonderful site to get updates and advise, I love it!

  21. If you are around week 4 and have not had constipation issues please please try and prevent the experience!!! Worst thing ever, I will take the surgery pain than that.

I am two months post-op, still on munchies. I'm reluctant to start taking laxatives as one can develop dependency on them. Hoping eating fruits and vegetables after mid-November will help me become regular again. Or does every VSG patient have this issue for life?

@Ashlegal, I was the same a few days ago when my NUT asked me if I had experienced any constipation, I told her no, by yesterday I was in distress. She had told me that the protein shakes and iron in the multi can cause it. @Daisee68 I am not on pain pills, it is the 2 protein shakes am taking to meet my goal. I was so sure I was going to end up in hospital that's how bad it was but (TMI) I was saved by Fleet glycerine suppositories. I almost passed out too! I have to take something to prevent it again! @emma4884 I hope it works with fruits and veg... I am only allowed 1Tbsp and no skins on fruits.
