  1. Looking at your date, it looks like you have just started the process. I know it is hard, but once things begin, they tend to go quickly. Do you know where you are having the sleep study done? If so perhaps you could call them to set up the date. Once you have your sleep study completed it takes about a week for the doctors to go over the results and write it up. A sleep study should not slow your process down, because it is only one piece to a much larger puzzle. Many people do not have sleep apnea and have the surgery. Have you completed all of your insurances requirements?

    Preop Appointments

Wow, I thought I had a long wait, but yours is even longer. my program requires three pre op classes/ meetings. The first was with the nutritionist and PA, they go over everything with me, review my test result and order any other required test. in my case I had to get an endoscopy. My second visit was a group visit. There were six of us, the dietician and PA went over the surgerys, pre op diet, stage 1-3 diets, and then we met with the surgeon. He reviewed the benefits and risk, then we signed our consent for treatment. My third visit is May 8. At this appointment, we do,our final weigh in, have a question answer session, and go over medications. My surgery will be May 28
  3. I have blue cross and to be honest I do not even know when they submitted the paperwork to the insurance company. I completed my required 6 month appointment with my PCP and was called about a week later March 27 for my first pre op visit with the programs PA and dietician, I had my second pre op visit with the dietician and surgeon April 9 th and was given my surgery date the next day. Which is scheduled for May 28. I was told My insurance is approved before I Actually meet the surgeon. I would be going crazy if I were you and would have to call them. If you haven't heard from them at this point you should call them.

    Ready!

I am scheduled for my RNY May 28.
  5. Wow! May 6, you are almost there. Do you have to do the pre-surgery diet? I have been on the computer a lot looking, researching and buying supplement and my protein powder. Right now I just feel like I should be doing something to prepare, but the reality is the only thing to do is NOT gain weight. I wish you the best of luck the 6th and can't wait to hear how everything went. Keep us posted.
  6. This is my biggest fear, hope all works out.

    Liquid Diet

Hi, I'm scheduled for surgery, RNY on May 28. My doctor requires 2 weeks of the stage 2 diet before surgery. He stressed the importance of it to aid in the shrinking the liver before surgery. I'm a little worried about how my energy level may be impacted by it because I teach middle school, but other than that it seems pretty doable. Any suggestions on what or how to make it through the two weeks would be great.
