Hang in there- it will get better. My surgery was a month ago. (May 4) I had a lot of pain at first too. 1) Focus on getting fluids first- stay hydrated- one sip at a time. 2) Once that is under control, then worry about Protein.... I had a good start- one week on full liquids, one week on pureed foods, then I started on soft foods. I pulled a muscle, which caused pain and nausea, and I ended up in the hospital for dehydration. So I had to go back to square one- Clear Liquids for a week, and just starting on Protein shakes and yogurt. It was a set back, but I am starting fresh and feeling really good now. It will get better!

Got told by a coworker today that I'm taking the "easy way"
brandnewending replied to Jerr_Bear's topic in Rants & Raves
I am exactly one month out of my surgery (RNY) and if this is what anyone calls "easy" then I must be crazy! I needed to do this for health reasons (many of them) and NOT to fit in a bikini... Both my daughters were adopted, and I heard comments like this about our choice to adopt. We had it easy....no labor, morning sickness, or stretch marks.... REALLY??? 6 years of infertility, medical testing and procedures, mountains of paperwork and studies to be approved. 13 month wait to be united with our daughter... not to mention over $25,000 and a 2 week trip to China to pick her up. Easy? HELL NO! Worth every bit? HELL YES! I feel the same way about this journey... it is what is right for ME, and that's all that matters! -
BC/BS MI - Time Frame & Requirements Questions and more!

momma_missie yes, I did have my surgery (RNY) on May 4th. Everything went very well. I had a complication at about 2-3 weeks out, and I became severely dehydrated and had to be hospitalized for a couple of days. Everything is fine now and I am back on track. The staff at the Barix Clinic are wonderful! They will take great care of you! Follow the program and do what they say and you will be on your way! Good luck! -
BC/BS MI - Time Frame & Requirements Questions and more!

Hi Butterfly512- I am also in a similar situation. I also have BC/BS MI, They did enforce the 6 mo of doctors visits before I was approved. I also have several weight-related health issues, but they wouldn't waive that requirement. I had my pre-op appt. on 4/7, with a scheduled surgery date of 4/13, but they delayed it, and requested a stress test before I could proceed. So now I am waiting again! Yes it is very frustrating, but my point is, it will happen when the time is perfect. (at least that's what I keep telling myself) Where are you having your surgery? I am going to the Barix Clinic, in Ypsilanti. Best of luck to you! -
I was hoping to get an April date, did my pro-op on 4/7, and they requested a stress test first before I can get cleared for surgery. It is frustrating to be delayed again, but it will all work out when the time is right.
