Hello, Had my gastric sleeve surgery 4/9/15, so I am 9 days post op. Feeling great and I am sure I will feel better when I start seeing a substantial weight loss. Hoping to connect with others and find support as well as support others.

Heavy to Healthy, I am from Buffalo, New York area. I stayed in hospital over night, that was it. That is the norm for this surgery. Glad your back to work and doing well. I was just given the ok to start exercising. Joined a gym this past Monday. Did you have the sleeve?
  3. Hello I am new to this site. Just wanted to put my story out there, in hopes of encouraging someone who is as big a chicken as I am. I went through the whole preop test, appointments, classes, physchological eval, EVERYTHING... two years ago. Insurance approved, was scheduled for surgery, then backed out. I just couldn't do it! I really worried about post op pain and getting back to feeling well. Well, after I backed out. Things never got any better. I was so disgusted with myself. The weight was really getting to me, my back, my legs, my overall well being, so I decided to try again. I went to a different doctor and had to go through everything all over. Of course it took a lot of convincing to get my husband back on track. Well, I had a wonderful doctor. (Dr. Aaron Hoffman at Buffalo General Hospital) I am 9 days post op. I had my gastric sleeve surgery on 4/9/15. Now I wonder why I waited so long. On my post op appointment 4/14/15 I asked Dr. Hoffman if I could hug him, and I did. So happy to start this journey and shed these unwanted pounds.

    What did I wait for?

@Brigiter Sending prayers and positive thoughts your way. I focused on "getting my stomach cut" also, and it was a big part of my fear. The surgery was not as bad as I had imagined. Just an FYI, I know someone who recently had the revision from lapband to sleeve and she told me the lapband was worse than the sleeve surgery! Good luck! I am sure you will do fine. 2 days to go. I will be thinking of you and sending prayers on 5/5!

    What did I wait for?

@@SimplySharon There are risks with so many things in life. Look at Tylenol! But I bet you have taken it in your life time. This is why we have the pre op work up and medical clearance. Unfortunately you don't know that person's medical history or general health. I wish you the best and hope you will let me know when your post op! Good luck.

    What did I wait for?

@SimplySharon I wish I could give you some courage. 11 days post op and I am soooo happy I had the courage to go through with it. I am already feeling like this was the best thing I could ever do for myself. I have just added years to my life! Please let me know when you have a date. I will keep you in prayer! Best of luck!

    What did I wait for?

@@Bellaloly74 I really hope you don't wait as long as I did. I don't know if your fears were like mine. I am in the health care field. I know the risks and was very familiar with the surgery before I started the process. I really hope you reconsider before you have to repeat the entire process, like I did. Good luck and I hope you keep me posted. Sooooo Happy to be 10 days post op.

I'm doing great! Going back to work Monday! I don't think I'm an exception because I really don't handle pain all that well. Upon starting my journey, my doctor said out of work 4 weeks. When I resisted he said at least 2 weeks out of work. I asked if I could get him down to one. He said he would let me know at my post op visit. Well post op visit was 5 days out and he said I could go back to work when I felt ready. I'm ready. This will help me with my walking, since I do a lot at work. Sipping fluids throughout the day. I really can't complain about anything! Wishing you the best of luck!
