My dr gave me 7 weeks without question. Actually, he asked me how long I needed. I told him what I did for a living and he said 7 weeks sound good?
-
I started using a straw and was able to double the amount of Water each day.
They originally told me not to use a straw but I asked the dr and he said it was fine if I could tolerate it. It does not hurt the sleeve.
-
They gave me a pregnancy test 5 days before my surgery during pre-op testing, and then again on the day of surgery even though I was on my period. They will not operate if you have a positive test.

@mataz78: I've done pretty well. Highest weight: 278, sleeved weight 262, current weight: 246. But I still can't tell any difference in myself which is a little frustrating.

7/21 that's awesome! How much have you lost?I'm also 2.5 weeks out-Dr Juarez. Did we have surgery the same day? 7/20 for me.
For me pre liquid diet 285 SW 271 CW 263 I feel like I've been a little bit of a,slow loser but overall still happy worth my decision

I'm 2 weeks post op. I mix GENEPRO with about two ounces of coffee and one cup of fairlife chocolate milk. I love it. It tastes like an iced mocha and gives me 43 grams of Protein. And it's not sickly sweet or thick like Protein Shakes.< /p>

Ok so if we can tolerate it, it's ok? Because I too get more Fluid in through a straw and have no issue.
-
I was just going to say that...1 lb a day is a lot. That's 30 lbs a month. I'm 12 days post op and I've lost a pound a day and am very happy with that.

How come we can't use a straw?
-
I'm from AZ and just got sleeved on July 20th.

My dr gave me 6 weeks and since my employer is paying for all six weeks, I will be off for that long.

@naturegirl: I really felt like a million bucks in the hospital. I felt mild discomfort at the most. Imagine my shock when I was taken off the IV pain meds and I was in a ton of pain! But the answers here are so helpful. It looks like the first week is tough and then we will start to feel better. Good luck in your recovery.

I had surgery yesterday. It went perfect and by this morning I was walking a ton and having very little discomfort...until they took me off the morphine pump and sent me home. Now I'm in a ton of pain. Hoping each day it gets better.
-
Thanks everyone. I will just push through. It seems by the end of week 1 most people are feeling much better.
-
So I had surgery yesterday and couldn't believe how easy and almost pain free it was...until they sent me home and took me off of the morphine drip. Holy Cow do I feel a lot of pain now, especially the left side of my abdomen. Can someone give me an idea on the actual pain recovery time? Or at least what I can expect. Thanks.

Question: I had surgery today and have been eating ice chips without any issue. Could I be lucky or are the nausea meds going through my IV giving me false hope!

I have Aetna and didn't lose any weight during the 3 month diet (I couldn't or my bmi would be too low). I also haven't had this BMI for more than two years. I was originally denied but once the doctor submitted better documentation of my 90 day supervised diet, I was approved within a week. Surgery tomorrow.
-
Me tomorrow @ 1:30?
-
I'm sorry you got denied. I don't have BCBS but Cigna denied me the first time because they needed better notes from my doctor. Once they got them I was approved in a few days.

Did anyone have really intensive pre-op testing? My friend did not for her WLS but mine lasted 3 hours today and I'm sore and bruised from the ultrasound (I've never experienced a painful ultrasound before but this one had me in tears.) I had to do a needle test in pulmonary, an upper GI and x-rays, blood work, a heart test, a lung test and a pee test. Mind you Im in my 30's and besides being obese, am 100% healthy.

I'm in AZ. Getting sleeved on 7/20. St. Luke's.
-
I'm on pre-op diet too. 14 days of total liquids. It's so tough but I see such variations in pre-op diets that I'm sure you are fine.

July sleevers?

I was sleeved on July 20th. That's pretty close to your date. I haven't weighed in a couple of weeks but two weeks ago I was at 49 lbs down. I avg about 2 lbs a week. I'm halfway to goal. Does that help?
