    June 24th Peeps chime in!

Nice to see that this thread is still going! I have now lost 51lb total from my per-surgery weight. I am starting to worry though because everything is really feeling normal... I can eat pretty much anything and I can eat a whole lot more than I expected that I would be able to. For example- I can eat a whole can of refried beans. I know that we are not supposed to, but I tested eating slowly until I felt "full" and there is was... I finished the can and still didn't feel full. Though, I now (or try to) just stick to eating until I am not hungry and then stopping. I am also enjoying having to go into old boxes of clothes that I used to wear before I gained so much weight. All in all, I am really happy that I did the sleeve. Hope everyone is doing well (it sounds like it)
  2. I was just about to post a similar question. I was sleeved on June 24th and lost 30 lb total... About 15 before the sleeve, and then 15 in the week and a half after. At 1.5 weeks, I started adding puréed foods to my meal options and all of a sudden I am not losing anymore. Not a pound in about 5 days. Bummer. Hope the body starts shedding the weight again.

Everything good here! I have moved on to mashed/ puréed foods, have lost 30 lb, and feel pretty normal. This whole thing has been easy... Though, I think I am starting to feel hunger. Wasn't expecting that, at least not yet.

    Why the sleeve?

As were mine, but I think we should all follow the advice of our chosen surgeon. That being said, from my understanding, the concern with NSAIDS is an increased likelihood of marginal ulcers. Those occur at the interface of the stomach pouch and roux limb in bypass patients. Those of us with sleeve do not have that particularly vulnerable part of the stomach pouch. I do think it is important for people to know that they can have NSAIDS after sleeve because some people really need them. If my doc told me no NSAIDS after sleeve, I would ask them why. The medical consensus is that they are safe after sleeve, not after bypass. Go from there.

    Why the sleeve?

@livingfree! Sleeve CAN use NSAID whereas gastric bypass cannot. I work in the medical world but not in bariatrics. I was at a conference and they had a session on new developments and info on weight loss procedures so I decided to pop in on it. They made it pretty clear that the NSAID thing is one of the considerations for selecting a procedure. Sleeve can have it, bypass cannot.

Just checking in to see how my fellow June 24thers are doing. I have had a little soreness for the last few days, but today I woke up and feel completely normal. I even woke sleeping on my stomach. Weight loss is happening too! Hope everyone is feeling good going into the weekend!

Not to be happy about anyone else having the lump, bit it does make me feel better!

Nope. I know that being on the IV adds a bunch of water weight...and the body is recovering. Weight is irrelevant right now. So, no scale for me. I will weigh myself at 1 week out. One thing that I am worried about is that a have a huge lump/swelling on my left side. It is not at an incision site. It is between the big incision and the one above it on left side...about at the bottom of my left ribs. All my bruising and swelling is pretty much gone. That particular lump, about the size of a baseball is still there. No redness, no fever...I showed it to nurse at hospital and she said not to worry, it will go away...still waiting for it to do so. No change at all yet.

Nothing here yet either. Perhaps it is normal? How much liquids etc you all getting in. I am worried that I am able to get too much...48 oz of clear, no problem. 2.5 oz stage 1 baby food, no problem. Premier protein shake, no problem. Was intending to sip one while playing my video game yesterday and didn't even realize that I had finished it in about an hour.

Hmm. No burning or anything here. I am just feeling bloated and very much NOT hungry...though, cravings are still there. Walked past a street taco vendor at the Farmer's market today...smelled so good! But I don't feel like I can fit in anything beyond my clear liquids and occasional full liquids/puddings etc.

Yep, I am home. Not feeling too bad! I am getting in liquids ( feels so strange! Like it is sliding down a tube full of air) and full liquids (yea for yogurt!). Pain is manageable. How are you doing?

Yea, I am feeling pretty lucky so far. My wife is scheduled for the sleeve in 3 weeks, and a friend of hers a week after that. So, I am the guinea pig. Hopefully it stays easy to keep them encouraged.

How is everyone doing? I got my sleeve yesterday at 7:30am, was walking around and using the restroom by 2pm. They indicated that I am doing really well, so they took me off the pain pump this morning and started me on oral painkillers. They also let me compress the dietary plan, so I am on clear liquids for breakfast, but will get full liquids for lunch. They are also talking about releasing me a day early (go home today) if I want!
