    GOT MY DATE - JUNE!

I'm a June 15th sleever! I started my four week pre op diet six weeks ago. Two more weeks to go Woo-hoo!
  2. I was able to quit six weeks ago for surgery... If it wasn't for my 0 nic vape pen I would have gone crazy. I haven't used my vape pen in about three weeks, but to be honest I really really want a smoke right now.

    June Sleevers!

Two more weeks! June 15th will be here before I know. . I have my pre op appointment tomorrow. Good Luck to all you June Sleevers!
  5. So I have hit a stall in my pre op diet. The doc wanted me to lose 35 lbs before surgery. I have been stuck at 29 lbs for the last week.... I have my pre op appointment on Monday and surgery on the 15th. I guess that should give me enough time to lose the six lbs. But I am kind of nervous of what the surgeon is going to say on Monday when I see him.
  6. Finally got my date! June 15th, and I cant wait. My sons birthday is the day before so I am happy that I will actually be up to having a party for him. Still working on the dreaded pre-op diet, which should have been done with next week but insurance tied things up for a couple of weeks so by my surgery day I will have been on the diet for about 8 weeks.... but ive lost 25 lbs so far so I shouldn't really complain I guess.
  7. My last and final straw.... I lost my father in September to Massive Heart Failure he was 56 years old. Still young. He was a pretty healthy guy or so I thought. He was a rancher/farmer who worked very hard. He was diagnosed with diabetes years ago and was taking medication. He wasn't the healthiest of eaters, but he wasn't really that big, and I would say he was pretty fit and active. Six years ago he became a new father again to my sister and raised her on his own until his death. After his passing I moved my sister in with me. It has been hard adjusting to having another child in addition to my 9yr old 3 yr old and 2yr old, but we manage. After his passing I realized that I could quite possibly be going down the same road if I don't get healthy. The thought of having to leave my children without a mother and being raised by another family member or possibly being split up between family breaks my heart and is the whole reason for me doing this.
  8. 3 weeks until i take my nicotine test... if i pass (fingers crossed)... surgery a week or two later :)

  9. The only cost to me is the hospital stay and the anesthesiologist which comes out to a little less then 2,000.
  10. Checklist complete... looking at late may (which would be an awesome birthday present) or early June.
  11. Can't figure out how to email you.... But would love to be part of the group.... My email- Nevadarezgirl@gmail.com

    Have my date

Congrats... Wish they'd hurry up and give me my day ... For sure in late may or early June. Already started my pre pre op diet. The last couple of weeks went by fast while I finished my check list but now with nothing left to do time is moving a lil slower.

You are over the hump. Now your body is thinking, "Looks like I am not getting any solid food today - guess I will take a nap."

YES! You are over the hump. I'm now on day 12 and looks like I'll make it, too! Ive lost about 10 pounds and now my body seems to not want to let go any more weight. THat's okay, I've come this far... no reason to not keep on the diet. I'm thinking maybe I'll show another pound or two or maybe more by surgery day. I also had to stop taking my birth control pills 2 wks prior to surgery, so the lack of estrogen may be playing a factor. Ick, and I'll have to be off 2 weeks after the surgery too. Oh well, this will pass, right? I'm excited to be so close to the day!!!!!!

Yes it will pass. I weighed myself yesterday and I was down 5 lbs. Someone said "oh that's just water weight". Trying to burst my bubble. 5 lbs is 5 lbs and gets me closer to my goal. :) Still have a ways to go to surgery but I will get there (haven't gotten an actual day yet) but im on this pre-pre op diet for two weeks then I start the full liquid.

How long was your pre-op diet?

My bmi is just above 50 so I have to do the four week diet. Plus they tacked on another two weeks to help ease me into the liquid diet. I'm on day three. Week one I get a protein drink for breakfast lunch and dinner are frozen meals no higher then 300 Cal. And a snack in between each meal. The second week is the same thing but I switch out a dinner or lunch meal for a shake, the last four weeks is the liquid diet.
  16. Did anyone else have to do a pre pre op diet? I haven't gotten my date yet, but I am figuring if they started me on a pre op diet that I must be approved and looking at being sleeved in June. Because my BMI is a little over 50, they have me on a four week pre op diet, but they add an extra two weeks on so that you can better prepare yourself and ease your way into the actual pre op diet. So week 1: Breakfast-Shake, Approved Snack, Lunch-nothing over 300 calories/Healthy Choice meal, Approved Snack, Dinner-nothing over 300 calories/Healthy Choice meal, Approve Snack. week 2:Breakfast-Shake, Approved Snack, Lunch-Shake, Approved Snack, Dinner-nothing over 300 calories/Healthy Choice meal, Approve Snack. week 3,4,5,6 Full liquid Diet. Did anyone else have to do this? I am only on day three and I feel like I am starving. I know it will get easier, its just getting through these first few days that is going to be the hardest. Adding in that I am trying to quit smoking on top of that is killing me. It has always been food or cigarettes... or both to comfort me. I just pray that the next few weeks go by fast.

    Pre-Pre op diet?

Are you adding in exercise too? I don't want check my weight for atleast a week to see if is actually working... Fearful that it won't make a difference.... I have been trying to get a little waking in... And have been playing the wii with kids.

    Approved!

    congrats to you!
  19. I thought the same thing... I thought the process was going to be alot more complicated, one of the reasons I put it off for so long. My advocate said I have awesome insurance and there was not a whole lot of hoops to jump through.
  20. How long did it take? I'll have mine done Friday... Hope it's not too bad.
  21. When I went to my consultation my patient advocate had all that info for me. He told me what my requirements are and an estimate of my out if pocket.
  22. just bought my first bag of meal replacement... woohoo. Will start my pre op diet tomorrow. :)

It was only 5 months ago I was doing the same thing. I remember feeling all excited/nervous because it was finally my time :) Good luck. I'm sure it will be great. I went into it with a similar attitude and it really makes things so much easier to handle.

  25. Hello All! Absolutely love this site! I feel more motivated then ever after coming here and reading everyone's posts. its good to know that a lot of people have had the same worries and questions that I have. I am 31 and a single mother of three, but I actually have four children. My father passed away in September from massive heart failure, he also had diabetes. with my dads passing it left me to care for my six year old baby sister. I knew right then that I had to make some major life changes. I need to get healthy for my babies, all four of them. I don't want them to have to go through what my sister is going through right now. I want to be able to be in their lives for a very long time. I looked into bariatric surgery a little over a year ago and was talked out of it by my mom, who isn't really understanding or supportive right now. I will be taking her to my steps for success class on Monday so that she can have a better understanding of why I have made this decision. I hope it helps, I am really going to need someone to lean on for that support. I know it is going to be a hard road, but I am ready! So far I have gotten my initial consultation out of the way and am working on my check list. I have my steps to success class on Monday and my psych eval scheduled for Friday. After that everything else is done but the hard part. I have to give up smoking for six weeks, which is not a bad thing, it will be hard, expecially, starting out with my pre op diet at the same time. I have to lose 30 lbs before surgery so I will be on a 4 week diet. Wish me luck... cause I will definitely need a lot of it. Thanks for reading, and good luck to all of you while you are on this journey!!
