I'm 59 and had mine 5/5th. I've lost right at 45 lbs, feel great and work 4 ten hr shifts a wk. Best thing I've ever done. No problems not even nausea or vomiting. You'll do great!

Lanieg, best wishes for you tomorrow. Prayers for you for peace and your surgical team for wisdom and guidance. I know you'll be fine.

5'3 sounds amazing. Your slacks and blouses actually reach your wrists and ankles. I'm afraid I don't have a petite bone in my body! I guess we all envy what we don't have. I'll change my settings.

Thanks Queen. I'm now 5 wks out and have lost about 35 lbs. Yep I'm 59 and decided that I didn't want to spend the rest of my life, whatever that may be being morbidly obese. Thanks for being a role model for us newbies!

    Itching all over body

So glad I saw this thread. I've been itching since a couple of days post-op. I have tape allergies, but worst places are not near incisions but are neck, upper back and sides. Especially at night. Thought I was losing my mind! Wakes me in middle of night. There has got to be an answer. ...

    May Sleevers...where are you?

I'm almost 4 wks out. I too was bit surprised about the drain. Mine went across the lower abdomen but came out easy. Just felt weird. Take a deep breath RELAX and it will be over before you know it.

    May Sleevers...where are you?

I'm wondering about the drains. We don't have them in UK as far as I know. So it's a bit better not having to have that done. But from what I've read from others on here it's very straightforward and nothing to worry about. Just one more step on road to recovery

You are not alone. I don't have any great insight, but make sure you don't get xonstipated. I had to use a suppository the first week. And I NEVER do that. Hang in there.

Way to go! Can't believe you had to go through all that.

    May Sleevers...where are you?

Best wishes & prayers to all of this week's sleevers. I'm almost 3 wks out and I feel amazing and so will you. The 1st 4 days post op you will be surprised to see how much better you feel each day. Apparently there is a "stall" around 3-4 wks and we have to work through it. This is a journey....

    May Sleevers...where are you?

2 1/2 wks out now & had lost 21 lbs at my 2 wk visit. Soft food is a blessing! Haven't found anything that bothers me, but I'm trying to be careful. ret'd to work yesterday & did ok - was tired last night. Thanks to all the good thoughts & prayers on my brother's death - especially Nomo band. It really helped to know ya'll were there. We were able to bury him in the National Cemetery in Dallas with Military honors. What an amazing facility

    May Sleevers...where are you?

Shaun na & hb.mambo - thanks for your warm wishes. I especially love the "keep your head up and water down". It pretty much is my mantra now. Good luck and prayers to all this week's sleevers. Your in my thoughts and prayers and will be amazed at how quickly you bounce back.

    May Sleevers...where are you?

May 5th & 1 wk postop. My brother died the morning of my surgery and we have had to fly Dallas yesterday to arrange for his burial. Trying to keep sipping and taking rest breaks .

    May Sleevers...where are you?

I'm 6 days post op & my surgeon just decided to let people take small pills whole. I was a bit dubious but starting day 2 I took them 1 at a time with sips of water. It worked great and no problems. Hang in there, there is a resolution but this is such an emotional procedure it's hard to calm down. You'll be in my thoughts & prayers.

    May Sleevers...where are you?

Sabl3r- I'm glad you've turned the corner and are doing better. I'm an RN and since I'm 59 years old I expected to have issues. I've been very lucky in my recovery, but my surgeon laid a lot of ground work to make sure I would be as good as possible. I'm post op day 6 too. I am able to keep sipping and yesterday got 64 Oz in and 60gm of protein. I made it to church, went to see my mother in law and sister. Although I can get in & out of my suv it's tiring. Every where we went I found a chair and sat. I agree with you that we need to remember that we've had surgery and that it's going to take a bit for everything to get back to our new normal. We've been given a gift and just need to be prepared to adapt as we go.

    May Sleevers...where are you?

My surgery was yesterday afternoon and I didn't get to my room until almost 11pm. I walked a couple of times during the night. Passed my leak test and got my liquid lunch. So far no nausea, but I've had a bit of pain. No more than to be expected. Now we are on our way home. I'm trying to take drinking in tiny sips. Just lots of them. I also had a hiatal hernia and repair of something that would stop the acid reflux. I'd say we are all doing g great.

Best wishes to all those going tomorrow. Please let us know how your doing. Anyone done Monday - how are you getting along? I meant those done Friday. Sorry

Oh ladies! Last meeting was Friday, Monday is clear liquids, then surgery Tuesday morning. Starting to question my decision, but know that this the only way I'll be able to get the weight off. Last minute jitters, I just need to persevere.
