  1. What am I doing wrong? I just started soft foods and it's not going well. I take a few bites, chewed very well and spaced well and it feels like it's stuck in my chest!

You may not be doing anything wrong - the switch over date is a guideline. You might just need to back down for another day or two then try again. It gets better!

  2. Today is my first day back at work. Doing pretty good, kind of tired and a little sore still on the left but I have a desk job so I'm doing ok. I really haven't had any problems at all! Still on liquids, go to soft diet on Monday!

Congrats, back at work! You go from liquids to soft? I had to go from liquids to pureed diet to soft diet. I'm still partially on pureed diet, taking the leap into soft diet veryyyyy slowly. Good luck with everything!

Surgery was June 1st. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, I tried soft foods and after just a little bit it feels stuck in my esophagus like a swallowed a huge gobstopper and it hurts!

I don't think my smell or taste has changed.

wow, mine sure has. Smell is really heightened and every thing tastes so sweet. I was in the bedroom and knew my husband had cut a watermelon in the kitchen because I could smell it.

Wow! The only thing I have noticed is the air feels dusty or like I'm in a smoke filled room at times.

  4. but even the biggest losers have stalls that they can't explain and you know they are burning more calories than they are eating. If it were as simple as calories in vs. calories out then I think they would have developed a pill that would accomplish that. It's just not that simple.

    Cruise

Will it be hard to resist all that food? Or will it be easy because you can't get that much down anyhow? I wonder? I love cruising! But I wonder if I would love it as much after the surgery since food was a big enjoyment for me on the cruise? I just don't know what to expect or how I'll feel! I'm on an emotional rollercoaster!

    Almost time!

Mine is Monday, that makes me feel better. I don't want to wake up and wonder what the hell did I do to myself! I'm so excited! I just want to get the surgery done and start healing and loosing!

    This is me

I'm going to take a week and one day off. My surgery is Monday and my follow up appointment is on the 8th so I guess I'll go back the 9th if I feel up to it. I really have to be back by the 12th or there will only be one nurse in the building that does my job and it really takes two.
  8. I'm having the opposite problem, my husband won't eat because I am on liquids only pre op. He is diabetic and really needs to be eating something!

    Resume omeprazole anyone?

the Sleeve is known for making GERD worse. I only have it occasionally but I'm doing bypass but even then my doc said to take Prilosec 40mg for a few months after surgery.
  10. @TXMissy You probably could have gotten another visit with NUT covered if you asked your doc. I went to doc for my first free consult April 17 and then did my psych eval, endoscopy, heart stress test, NUT apt, and pulmonary function test. Having Surgery June 1st. It all went much faster than I anticipated. I didn't have to do any supervised diet etc. I have BC/BS of Texas
  11. Hi! I'm a June 1st I'm doing the pre-op liquids only this week and it's really really hard!! Can't wait till Monday!
  12. @carolm1965 oh honey I am so sorry you have had all these problems! You are definitely in my thoughts and prayers!
  13. So what is the progression on exercise? When can I start walking? Aerobics? Zumba? Weights? Real core work?

    @TLW @red37 So how are ya'll doing??

    PB2 + Protein Shake = DELISH!

I like Premier the best so far and it's the cheapest pre-mixed I've found at Walmart and Sams Club. Krogers also has it. I like the chocolate. I haven't been thrilled with any of the Protein drinks so far but haven't been disgusted by any yet either. I ordered some stuff called Whey-licious from Dr. Hale Nutrition for after surgery because I can get a lot of protein in a small volume.
  17. ok that's good info. I am worried about gaining weight and I haven't even had surgery yet! So 10% first month, then another 10% by month three then what?? I have no clue what to expect!

    Don't hate me

Do you have a CJ Banks? they have petites and cute stuff!

    Uncertain futures

    Praying for you both!
  20. If you have reflux I've heard the sleeve makes that worse. To many people manage to gain weight again with the lap band and to many complications with it, sure the surgery itself is easier but you want something that is going to work long term for you.

    This is me

Oh girl I know how you feel! I'm a nurse also and I hate to even tell my patients that they should eat better, I feel like such a hypocrite! We know the health risk, we know how to loose weight, we know the benefits of exercise, etc but it doesn't make it any easier to do just because we know the information! Stop beating yourself up and take care of you! Your not alone, there are a bunch of us on this site who feel the same way! I have so many people telling me that I just need to get serious about weight loss, that I can do it on my own and that I don't need surgery. Well if that were the case don't ya think I would have already done it! I'm a food addict, I need a little help!

    Pre op

Being short does not help matters when it comes to weight! I'm 5"1 if I stand up real tall and stretch! I do believe my highest was 240 which is more than I weighed when I was pregnant with either of my girls! I didn't have to do any diet ahead of time to get the surgery approved or have a supervised weight loss history so I didn't even try after I heard I was eligible for the surgery, in fact I ate everything in site, kind of a funeral for all my favorite foods! My surgery is June 1st so I started my pre-op liquids only diet Monday and I've lost 7 lbs doing that! It's been really hard but at least I know It's not forever.
  23. I haven't even had the surgery yet and I'm already afraid to eat! Afraid I'll mess up my surgery or I'll hurt myself, afraid I'll get sick, or WORSE gain weight!
  24. 8 weeks post op? What where you eating? and where you chewing it up really well? I thought 8 weeks was fine to start eating
  25. sparksrn

What size do you think I might be wearing?

I don't even remember the last time I was wearing a size 10 but I really want to get back to it!
