I have a family member who fell apart so quickly after WLS it was mind boggling. Currently doing a 90 day rehab after 3, 28 day rehabs did not work. She was fired 9 months before being fully vested and eligible for retirement. She missed her daughter's prom, graduation, and basically the respect of the entire family. Her health was rapidly declining, vomiting blood, jaundice, etc....from a 38 year old woman. She rarely, if ever, drank before the surgery. I don't post often here and not on the "how soon can I drink alcohol forums" as this rapid addiction isn't going to happen to everyone. I quit drinking completely after watching her rapid descent. Comes back to us in mid-July....praying that she can find peace and embrace sobriety.

I have had to give up drinking all together. It actually is a much better buzz after the surgery as the alcohol gets into the intestine and absorbed much quicker. Unfortunately the hangovers are MUCH worse. I know of at least 2 people that had no issues with alcohol pre sleeve that are now both struggling with alcohol addiction post sleeve. Be careful with whatever you decide on alcohol consumption and remain honest with yourself on the effects.

How much water should I be drinking?
slvarltx replied to jjsasha's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My doctor told me in general your urine should be mostly clear (minus first thing in the morning). If it is yellow or worse during the day, increase your fluid intake -

After how much time .......
slvarltx replied to Angelica Marti's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Pain was gone in a week...bigger issue for me was fatigue in the first 90 days...just got tired easier as my body was healing...back to normal ++++ energy levels after that Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
@favoredlife....my understanding is that it is impossible to stretch the actual sleeve. What happens is that on extreme overeating, the area where pyloric valve meets the intestine, the intestine will actually balloon at this weak point....thus stretching the intestine not the stomach....this is how my surgeon explained it me....small comfort to your cousin of course as the result is the same...revision

I was soooo hungry for the months after surgery, I didn't think they had done the surgery until cleared for solid food and felt the restriction. For me, it was "head hunger"....my brain wanted the stress relief from the act of eating. The head hunger lasted almost 12 months and then was just gone. It seems that the wiring in my brain took that long to give up. As soon as you are able....start walking. Not only does it help heal your body, it will relieve some of the mental game. Your body and your mind at at war. You will win, but there is a bit of discomfort to be endured along the way. Hang in there!

I am with Babbs on this one. There is no stretching of the sleeve....it does relax a bit. The reset works for some folks in my opinion because it gets them focused on the fundamentals that makes the process work in the first place....protein, veggies and elimination of junk carbs.

It actually took me over a year to stop feeling "head hunger". Now I rarely feel that ravenous hunger as my mind has adjusted to the "new normal". I think the hard answer is that you are going to have to endure some discomfort to make it to your goal.
