  1. Try drinking decaf coffee or tea. I found that having warm liquids would help alleviate some of that head hunger. You are going to go through some discomfort during the next couple of weeks. Hang in there....the results for me are sooooo worth it.
  2. Very similar experience for me. Started getting back to normal around week 6. Now I go to sleep around 10 and wake up around 430 am. My body only needs about 6 and 1/2 hours as part of the new normal. Hang in there, you should rebound soon. Have you had your blood work done again yet?
  3. You should be fine. Your surgeon should be understanding as you are undergoing a radical change because you have an issue. BTW....this was my first "real" thanksgiving. I had turkey, stuffing, and even a small piece of pumpkin pie. Because I didn't stuff myself full, 20 minutes later I was ready to play with the kids again. VSG is not a death sentence. For me, the surgery forced my mind to adopt to a new normal, and the new normal is frickin wonderful!

1 week post op weight lose

What is your start weight? Percentage is a lot more meaningful than absolute numbers. If you read through the posts, there really is no "normal" as some actually gain. Are you getting your Water and Protein requirements met? Try to focus on the process, the weight WILL release if you follow the program. If you are feeling good, probably all is well. If you are nervous, call your doctor; you are the customer after all.

    Death!

Don't take "no" for an answer. What you are experiencing is not normal.

I Am Thankful For My Stall

I keep coming back to these boards because of posts like this. I have almost stopped a couple of times because of super sensitive people or people who feel its there duty to tell me when they feel I am being "mean" to someone (I am direct when I detect people trying to "bargain" their way to poor behavior or having a pity party!) But this post alone has made it worthwhile for me. I have had 2 long stalls in the 29 weeks since I had my surgery. Both lasted for a month. The first one was the dreaded 3 week and was very frustrating. However, I could read here how this was normal and to quit worrying about it. I put the scale away and stopped weighing myself everyday, and instead just checked every week or so. After the stall ended, the weight fell off very rapidly. My waist went from a 48 to a 36 in a matter of 5 months. Stalled again around Haloween and just weighed again this morning to find I was losing pounds again. Am actually looking to lose about 5 more pounds and then start adding weight gain shakes into my diet to stop losing weight. My doctor doesn't want me to lose anymore. Weird place for me to be to say the least!

    VSG to DS

Sorry no advice to give, but I am curious...to what do you attribute your weight gain too? Poor diet? Lack of exercise? Not asking to be critical of you, but I am curious on what the mode of failure was for you and your sleeve. Thanks!
  10. I stayed 2 nights. I had quite a bit of pain and wanted the extra day of IV pain killers. Was more than ready to go home after the 2 nights though.

    Newbie-- question(s)

at 6 months I am eating over 1600 calories a day and still slowly losing. My doctor wants me at 2000 calories after another 5 pounds. Go to a seminar and then a consult with a doctor. The internet is full of horror stories as the 99% of us that are doing just fine don't have a lot to say other than this surgery was extremely helpful in reaching my healthy body weight. Think of the nightly news, they never say, "everything was just fine today" and sign off. Best of luck to you.

    Still Losing

There are plenty of weight gaining powders out there that will allow you to up your calories without filling up too much or putting a nutritional balance out of whack. Here is a link to livestrong that has some of these powders. You can get them at GNC or amazon. It should be very easy for you to arrest the weight loss. Best of luck. http://www.livestrong.com/article/36839-weight-gaining-powders/

What have I done to myself?

I got very dizzy at the same point. Had to immediately stop taking my BP medicine as my BP was too low. Went away after 2 days.

    Can this really happen?

My surgeon explained to me that it is impossible to permanently stretch my sleeve as the flexible portion of the stomach was removed. There is a general "relaxing" of the stomach as it heals over the course of a year or so, but that is it. "sleeve slip"? There is nothing to slip.

    Feeling better, and motivated!

And then enjoy your trip to Hawaii. I have been on a cruise all week and not really tracking calories, but making sure I get my Protein. If I put on a pound or two, so what? I will take them right back off again. Life is to be enjoyed!
  16. That sounds like the internal stitch. The same thing happened to me and the pain/tightness subsided rapidly after that
  17. Sugar alcohols made me EXTREMELY sick early on. At week 4, I was going on vacation and had 2 atkins bars....thought I was going to die. I try and stay away from them now.

    Rollercoasters?

I was cleared at week 3 by my surgeon. Went to universal and had a blast on all of the Harry Potter stuff with the kids.

    BCBSTX.... Co-Pay

My co pay through BSBS of MI was paid to the hospital the week before my surgery.
  20. 12 months ago I was on my first month of 6 month period to satisfy insurance requirements. I weighed 335 lbs and took medication for high blood pressure. Today I weigh 213 and take no medication. Here are my tips: 1. Try and learn as much as you can about the operation 2. Try to adopt the diet/lifestyle ahead of the operation as much as you can 3. Don't let the process overwhelm you 4. Learn what the steps of the process and then only focus on the next step It can feel overwhelming when looked at as a whole, but if you break it down it becomes less intimidating. Best of luck to you!
