I dealt with being hangry also. I take Snacks and Protein drinks to work and eat or drink something every couple hours. Definitely helps. My wife said that pic was me the first few months after surgery

I like the Bariatric Support from Twinlab multi vitamin. Not crazy about the iron or calcium though.

2.5 months post surgery and down 45 pounds. I have never had a sweet tooth but I've absolutely craved sugar the last 2-3 weeks. It's weird because candy wasn't never really my thing before but it is now. Trying to get control of that and hitting the gym to help break my recent stall. I've only stalled once before in week 2 so I reckon I can't complain. Also, my attitude has been terrible. Dr. said that will change maybe 12 weeks out or so. The wife says that can't happen soon enough...

4 days post-op photo

Wow. I had virtually no bruising. The only way you could tell I had the surgery was the incisions, with the longest one being about an inch or so. -
How long off work did you have?

Office worker here sleeved in June. I felt pretty good about 4 days after surgery. I took one week off and returned. I found that first week to be difficult because I tired out easily. Sipping water was a major focus that week. -
Curse you, Diet Coke!

I don't like the taste of diet soda anymore. Used to love it but not anymore. -
I would say do what YOUR Surgeon and NUT tell you and you should be fine. But I find it interesting also the differing approaches. But again, trust your team.

I was done on 6/15. I drink 2 protein shakes a day most days to ensure I get enough. I personally can't eat enough protein either.

How long will this feeling last?
bengaldude replied to Woodland4807's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have personally found that walking after I eat too much works the best for me. I've left the family sitting in restaurants a couple times to do a couple quick laps around the building. -
Hi, I was sleeved on 6/15. I did the pre-op for 1 week and lost 5 pounds. Oddly enough, i lost 16 pounds the first week, and hit the "3 week stall" in week 2. After that, it's been pretty smooth sailing. All told I've lost 30 pounds since the pre-op. My main focus is Protein. I drink 1 Isopure shake and 1 premier shake a day as a general rule, which is 80 grams of protein. I struggle getting all the liquid in daily. I'm an extremely picky eater, and the pureed stage didn't work for me at all. I either ate Soup, cottage cheese, or pretty much whatever chewed very well. Frankly I was surprised with my weight loss since I didn't strictly adhere to that plan, but it went well. I AM NOT ENCOURAGING THAT, I'm just sharing my experience; everyone's body is different. Just had my one month and the Dr. is pleased with my progress and moved me to soft foods, which is pretty much where I was already. I have found that 1/3 cup of food is about perfect for a meal I can't begin to tell how much better I feel with the weight loss. My recovery was easy, I feel like I've adapted pretty well, but oddly enough I am depressed, even though I feel so much better than before. I have a hair trigger temper now, which I did not before. My Dr. suggested that the worst of the attitude should be behind me by week 8, but he said it boiled down to 2 things, which I'd agree with: 1. I'm only intaking 500-700 calories a day tops, so even though I don't feel hungry I'm not giving my body much fuel, and 2. mourning the loss of my favorite stress reliever. Even though I'm not hungry I catch myself thinking like I did pre-surgery, and have to remind myself that I can't eat like that anymore, it's just not physically possible. This impact to attitude is a small price to pay though for a future that looks much brighter now than it did 2 months ago. Oh yeah, my new favorite thing is Cherry Antacid Soft Chews from Kroger. Never really had heartburn before, but I sure do now...

Premier shakes from Costco are awesome! Most protein by liquid volume, meaning have to drink fewer ounces for more protein, and they don't taste bad.

Totally agree with the sweetness thing! That's my biggest change in taste so far.

Surgery day was my worst day so far. It gets better

Heck yeah. eggs will be good. Not really hungry but I feel like I should be eating SOMETHING. Until I take a sip of water...

Had mine done Monday, 6/15. Got pretty nervous about the whole thing and was wondering what the heck I was doing. Didn't back out though. The surgeon talked to my wife about 40 minutes after it started, but it was another 2 hours or so before I was moved to my room. No hernia and it went well from his perspective. So far, surgery day has been the worst. I ran a low-grade fever, and my blood pressure stayed high for the 24 hours I was in the hospital. I bring that up because I've only registered high blood pressure 1 time. Normally I run on the low side. I ended up having a bit of trouble with the morphine. I dry-heaved a couple times from it but nothing too horrible. We went ahead and switched to percacet (sp?) which seemed to help the nausea. I got up several times and walked laps around the halls. I suspect that is why I have had almost no gas pains. would strongly suggest walking as much as you can if you can get out of bed. I've pushed the walking pretty hard and I think that has helped with recovery. The first time I brushed my teeth at home after the surgery I brushed my tongue. BIG MISTAKE, the gag reflex got me and I threw up. So, mental note made, be careful when brushing teeth. That is the only time i've actually thrown up except for the dry heaves from the morphine. I don't seem to have any trouble getting Water down, at all. protein is a different topic though. I like the Protein2.0 you can buy at Kroger, but it only has 15 grams of Protein. Isopure has a lot more protein, 40 I think, in only 4 extra Fluid ounces. Dang it's gross though. I'm trying to drink the Isopure the most but it's tough. Haven't really been hungry, which obviously is totally weird. I sat with the family at dinner and it didn't really bother me to eat/slurp broth while they ate the good stuff. I lost 5 lbs during the 1 week pre-op diet, and 10 post-op so far. I'm really trying to push the protein to keep that number growing.

June 15th is my date. pre-op complete, begin diet on 6/8. It's getting real!! I've not told anyone other than immediate family. I'm curious to see how it plays out at work. I'm taking vacation since I have some carryover to use so I've not had to tell anyone at all at work.
