alindsey replied to alindsey's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
No not the entire trail just 14 day sections usually is what I prefer! Protein powder in oatmeal is a good idea. I didn't think about the protein powders, thx -

Yea I may end up needing to wait longer! Maybe 6 months or more! It's hard to know how my body will be able to handle the hiking stress!? I'll dry day hikes and see how I do! Good luck on your ten miles!! Let me know how it goes @@efierke -
Long PCT section hike advice! It AT
alindsey replied to alindsey's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
At least a week long hike 7 days! I love long section hikes. I'm in California now so I'm going to hit the PCT! I've done many sections of the AT I absolutely love it!!! I think hydration is key. I worry about feeling sick to though if we can't get calories in cause you burn so many through the day! I was thinking the mashed potatoes packets maybe a good source of easier to eat carbs and oatmeal maybe I dunno though!? Good luck to you also glitter! Let me know how your hike goes! -
How bad is the gas pains?
alindsey replied to alindsey's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I hear the shoulder pain is bad. They say try heating pad for the shoulder and massager for the tummy! Hope it goes away soon for you!! -
Say you had a laproscoptic surgery leave it at that, if he wants details say you had your gallbladder out which hey It's not a lie, if you want to lie say you had a exploratory lap for endometriosis or to have your appendix out.

Long PCT section hike advice! It AT
alindsey replied to alindsey's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Yup that's what I'm really worried about is being able to drink enough during a long hike! -
I agree. Mine is 31-32 and I'm getting it done!! It's not about being morbidly obese it's about the constant roller coaster and gaining weight so easily and the unrealistic struggle to keep any weight you can loose off!!!!! I can kill myself loose 20 lbs only to gain it back over and over! The sleeve is a new way of life a way to break this pattern! I also didn't tell anyone bc I don't want to hear about how I can just eat right and loose weight lol. People are clueless

alindsey replied to B_Darkly's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've chosen not to tell anyone! No one knows except my mother who is having it done the same day as me! I don't want to hear anyone's negative BS or how I don't need it etc...it's no ones business I don't think! -

Go to buckle they will measure your waist and height and find jeans for your shape!! They are awesome they go up to like 14-16 I think. I have no bootie but look like j-lo in the jeans they put me in lol they are great! Your gonna spend 150-200 a pair sometimes but it's soooo worth it and they last for years!

Lol Coleen you got this! Good luck girl stay strong!

Just call it kind I see it Family should be supportive and bend over backwards for their moms, granted it wasn't their choice to be sleeved they should be supportive, period. Anyone who isn't supportive of their own mother is a a-hole lol I don't care who doesn't like it I just call a spade a spade. I bet as a mother she would bend over backwards to support them to reach their goals. Just saying!

Some say 4 weeks if you lifting before hand some say 6-8. I just was getting a feel for it. My dr says 4-6 just wanted to see what others say. Being a nurse I know Drs differ in what they say due to preference not necessarily research. I always do my own research.

My mom had the lap band and me my brothers sisters and dad changed our diets got junk out of the house and most certainly would never eat pizza or fast food around her. We ate more healthy and we ate what she could eat. We'd even eat all different types of soup with her the first few weeks at dinner. Anything to make it easier on her. So there is a such thing as a supportive family. It's a shame everyone doesn't have one, it's a shame its such a strange thing to some people but it exists!

Your family sounds like a-holes!!! Hold your head up you can do this! I know it's hard with no support but that will make you that much stronger and more awesome for getting to your goals!!! Do it for the look at me now. Take a week long vacation away from your family concentrate on you that's what I would do with no support! Do you be healthy strong and fabulous! You can do it!

I'm an RN, can I do the fills myself?
alindsey replied to Miss Sue's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a nurse and I fill my moms and a fellow nurse I work with. Just use a non boring needle so you don't ruin your port. Also only put small amounts in at a time I've gotten my moms so tight she couldn't swallow her own spit. Also dont empty it completely as it could slip. Do your research fill it small amounts at a time and make sure you can tolerate it
