Everyday I'm worried I did this for nothing. I'm still on full liquids and feel like it's not good enough. I can drink a whole shake at a time and don't feel overly full! I thought I'd be full after a couple of ounces! Arrrgh. I feel you. I'm almost 4 months post op and I've been in a stall and frustrated for a couple reasons. 1) I have no problem drinking a Protein shake in less then 20 minutes and have been this way since 1 week post-op. 2) I follow the nutritionists guidelines and eat my protein and calories, consume between 65-80 oz of Water a day and haven't lost anything in 3 weeks. I am In a Support group through the surgical office and have tried talking to them about it and it just makes me feel worse. I feel worse because people with a lower BMI (mine is currently at 53) have lost more weight in less time and people that had surgery the same week have lost more. When I ask what they are doing compared to what I'm doing I again feel like a failure. Some of the people are 6+months out and still at 300-400 calories a day. At 2 weeks I was told to move to 600-800 calories and at 6week 800-1000 and I tell people that and they are appalled. So I tried going backward in calories - back to 600-800 but I am hungry ALL THE TIME! I try to make good choices but this past week since I haven't lost anything in over 2 weeks I've just given up. Anyway, just came looking to see if anyone else has any of these issues or thoughts since I'm apparently unique my my face-to-face support group and it discourages me so bad. Try thickening up your shakes I do almond milk and zero carb Isopure powder! Full of protein. No carbs and very filling in a blender with ice! Fills me up at like 140 calories and 25 gms protein. I drink 2-3 a day with grilled chicken, tuna, pork tenderloin, or some type of lean meat every few hours. Or 1/2 cup cottage cheese. After 2-3 Ounces of meat I'm full. Ground chicken is also really lean and yummy and filling (I put home made taco seasoning on it)! I eat veggies a couple days a week but shy away from Beans and legumes as the high carb content stalls me I stay as low carb as possible except one day a week I allow myself carbs from nuts beans and nut butter etc (carb cycling). Eating every couple hours keeps me from being to hungry. The lean meats keep my calories low everyday. Measure and record everything! Before I got a good scale I thought I wasn't eating much but turned out I was eating double what I should have been. Hope it gets better for you! Sorry your group isn't very supportive! It'll get better! You can do it!

I get so hungry at night!!!! I'm 3 weeks out! Starving at night I hate that. I stay pretty satisfied during the day but Come 9pm I'm ravenous!! Any tips!? Some of it may be head hunger but sometimes it doesn't go away!

Pretty much all I was having 7 days out was protein shakes water and occasional broth or cream mushroom soup! I was full off my shakes though.

Because you still had your entire stomach sending your brain hunger signals all the time lol

I eat 20gms of protein every 2-3 hours on a schedule. Before I was kinda just eating whenever but since I've balanced it out and stick to schedule I've got out of a week long stall!

How much are you eating at a time!? Just seeing where everyone is at and what they are doing. I'm 3 1/2 weeks out I don't really measure ounces because I eat about 2 tablespoons most of the time and am full. Just curious TIA!

Newbie Question: How do you deal with stress now without food?
alindsey replied to FocusOnMeNow's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Walk and exercise definitely! -
Even with liquids you never go over 4oz? I do with water and protein shakes hope I'm not stretching it. I can drink tons of water at once! How long do you wait after 4oz to eat/drink more?

How long did everyone wait to eat spicy foods/tamatoes or citrus??

Desperate for help re: eating

Try unflavored protein powder in egg drop soup or in cream of chicken or mushroom soup! On week 3 you can do Cottage cheese it is a great source of protein so is tuna salad! All of these are pureed and you can meet your protein requirements. -
I'm lucky to get in 4 pitiful short workouts a week these last two weeks ! I'm 4 weeks post op it's hard for me to workout I just want to be lazy! I make myself though even if it's just a short walk or one round of low impact HIIT.

It's very frustrating I feel like even though I'm following the plan it's just not good enough! The only time I felt like it was good enough was on full liquids! I want to go back to full liquids almost! It's just a mental hang up I know! Didn't gain it overnight and I won't loose it overnight! Just gotta keep keeping on!

Premier shakes are great and low fat low carb low sugar! Also isopure powder from GNC is carb free cookies in cream is great! I mix it with a premier chocolate shake in the blender with ice! It's 80gms protein total and taste like a milkshake!

On the go ideas people have recommended to me are string cheese, handful of nuts, dried fruits, single serving yogurts, cottage cheese, and apple sauces. Also heard people eating beef jerky but that seem like it would hurt my stomach. I haven't gone back to work yet so I'm worried about on the go eating also. -

I love them to! I used to eat them as a cheat or a eat one if I got a little sick after long hike or workout. They always made me so full. I wonder how they will feel with our new tummies? Im curious if we could eat like 1/4th of one? -

I try and stay away from them they have sooooo many carbs! Not a great food choice! There are some home made recipes that are basically protein powder and oatmeal. They are low carb if you use low carb protein powder. -
Mederma works wonders I used it on my breast reduction scars and they are pretty much gone! I'm week 4 and using it now. Just started because you have to heal a little before you start using it. It's about 25-30 dollars a tube but well worth it! Also neosporin and vitamin E

Since I went to Mexico I don't have a NUT to check up with so I'm curious who is weighing food and how much are they eating!? I'm 3 1/2 weeks post op! TIA!

I get the same feeling in my esophagus like terrible pressure and burning when I eat, like the food comes back in my throat and I feel the pressure of it!? I think it's a symptom of reflux and irritation of the esophagus from acid. When I take prevacid I notice it is WAY better. I also eat WAY to fast I gotta work on this! Eggs are the worst for me I feel them in my throat for hours seems like!

I just hope the once a week weigh in shows results I'm getting discouraged!!!
